GENERAL
As jockey R. Shred was not riding at today’s meeting due to injury she was replaced as per steward’s summary.
 
The following runners which had not raced for an extended period all underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start.
R6 – Cogent, R9 – Stormy Legend, Makanui  
 
Race 1: COASTAL MARINE AND OUTDOORS MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1200 Metres
 
SMART BEE – Bounded in the air on jumping.
 
GREAT SURVEY – Slow to begin.
 
STEEL GRIT – Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the early stages.

SUPER TWENTY THREE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
MADONNACAN'TSING – Had a tendency to lay out for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
IMPERIUM – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 2: BROTHERS LEAGUE CLUB INNISFAIL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP – 900 Metres
 
FALSE STORY – Slow to begin.
 
SHERE KHAN – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages. Shifted wider rounding the home turn when racing ungenerously forcing BETTA AL wider.
 
BETTA AL – Forced wider rounding the home turn. When questioned in relation to its performance today jockey L. Morrison advised that in her opinion the gelding would be better suited over a longer distance than that of today’s race. Steward’s noted her explanation.
 
AVERAGE JANE – Raced ungenerously in the early stages and lost ground leaving the 700 metres.
 
NAZORIAN – Had a tendency to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Race 3: RAINE & HORNE INNISFAIL BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP – 900 Metres
 
NEUTRALIZE – Stood flat-footed and put in awkward strides after the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer R. Miller was advised the mare must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
 
TOTO – Began awkwardly.
 
BOHO BEAUTY – Shifted out at the start bumping STRATEGIST.
 
STRATEGIST – Bumped on jumping and shifted out bumping TANGO AND CASH.
 
TANGO AND CASH – Bumped on jumping and shifted out bumping NEBRAZ.
 
NEBARAZ – Bumped on jumping.
 
MACEDON FLYER – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 4: INNISFAIL SEAFOODS CLASS 6 PLATE – 1500 Metres
 
VIVENZO – Slow into stride.
 
NIGHT GUY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 5: APEX DRILL & BLAST BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres
 
MODERN LEGEND – Steward’s accepted the explanation tendered for the late declaration of rider for the gelding.
 
IMPEACHER – Shifted in at the start bumping BOOMED.
 
BOOMED – Bumped on jumping.
 
HANEDA – Shifted in at the start bumping BAKERSFIELD.
 
BAKERSFIELD – Bumped on jumping.
 
Race 6: MICALE CABINETS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres
 
PREMIUM STAR – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. Difficulties obtaining clear running over the concluding stages.
 
MISSA STITCH – Slow into stride.
 
BELLS APPROACHING – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
WONG WAY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 7: SPAGNOLO RARE FRUITS OPEN HANDICAP – 1200 Metres
 
BIG FLASH – Steward’s accepted the explanation from jockey S. Wilson in that he was unable to ride BIG FLASH at its allotted weight of 55kg and as such permitted jockey J. Taylor to be the replacement rider.
 
BOLD TYPE – Put in a very awkward stride soon after the start and was unbalanced.

BRILLIANT MIND – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority of the race. 
 
SILENT EXPLORER – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
PRIME RULER – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 8: GOONDI HILL HOTEL RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP – 1500 Metres
 
KOONUNGA HILL – Stewards acceded to a request from trainer T. Rowe that the gelding be scratched from today’s event due to Mr Rowes concerns with today’s racing surface. As such it was declared a late scratching at 3.47pm. As betting had not commenced no deductions were applicable. Whilst stewards noted the circumstances Mr Rowe was nonetheless advised to be mindful of KOONUNGA HILL racing on surfaces rated a Good (3) or firmer in future.
 
CONQUERING JUDAS – Slow to begin.
 
SEEFELD – Slow to begin. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.  
 
BARMERA – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
ROTH'N'BELL – Jockey M. Butler advised stewards on returning to scale that another horse’s tail entangled around his boot and spur shortly after the start resulting in his off side foot being dragged out of the stirrup for a short distance causing ROTH’N’BELL to lose ground.
 
HOW AWESOME – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
MEXICAN STAR – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Restrained over the concluding stages. Jockey S. Wilson was of the opinion the mare was not comfortable on today’s track surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed soreness in the off-front leg. Trainer M. Lee was advised a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required prior to it being permitted to race or trial again.   
 
FROM THIS MOMENT – Jockey A. Sewell was of the opinion the mare was not comfortable on today’s track surface.

Race 9: INNISFAIL SEAFOODS CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 900 Metres
 
The start of this race was delayed when an exit gate located in the lower tie up stalls was accidently locked not allowing horses to enter the course proper by the required time.
 
WRONGFULLY WRONG – Began awkwardly – Restrained when crowded between runners near the 850 metres and again restrained off heels near the 350 metres.
 
TIME TO STAR – Began awkwardly.
 
SONIC LIGHT – Began awkwardly.
 
MAKANUI – Slow into stride. Restrained off heels near the 750 metres.
 
ZI WIN – Made the home turn awkwardly. Jockey N. Thomas was of the opinion the gelding was not comfortable on today’s track surface.
 
MARANZANO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MAZZARATTI – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
STORMY LEGEND – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
RISKED IT – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SHOW AND GO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
