RACE 1: MACKAYS MARKETING / TODDS TRANSPORT QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 900 Metres

WHAT A SHOW – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly.

ARTURETTA – Slow into stride.

LICHFIELD ANGEL – Bumped on jumping.

POINT TWO – Jumped out at the start bumping LICHFIELD LADY. Steadied near the 500 metres and again near the 400m when crowded for room.

I'LLTELLYOUI'MIN – Shifted in when racing greenly near the 500 metres crowding POINT TWO and again near the 400 metres. Stewards advised jockey C. Meehan to show greater care.

MISS PIERATA – Fractious during its preliminary. Trainer F. Wieland was advised a warning would be placed on its parading manners.

RACE 2: BLENNERS TPT / LINDSAY AUST / OPAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP – 1500 Metres

BOMBINATE – Shifted wider to improve forward leaving the 1200 metres until racing outside the leader near the 700 metres.

RACE 3: AUSTRALIAN PRODUCE PARTNERS OPEN HANDICAP – 1200 Metres

MISSILE THUNDER – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.

DEVIL KICK – Slow to begin.

LOVE ON SUNDAY – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

BOLD HUNTER – Slow into stride. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

ZI WIN – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.

RACE 4: HORTICULTURE INNOVATION / RUSHWAY TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres

NAPA VALLEY – Slow to begin.

MAJESTIC BLAZE – Slow to begin.

GAZZA'S DIAMOND – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

ELLIE'S DREAM – Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.

SUPER ART – Compounded in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in front legs. Trainer A. Bailey advised stewards SUPER ART would be retired from racing immediately. Mr Bailey was further advised that if circumstances should change a full veterinary certificate of soundness would be required prior to the mare racing or trialing again.

FIVE BULLS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

BRIGHT DAISY – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.

RACE 5: PREMIER FRESH BANANA CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1800 Metres

When asked to explain the scratching of MERRY OLD SOLE from today’s race Co Trainer Mr T. Rowe advised stewards the mare had become cast its stable on Thursday afternoon 28 August 2025 removing its near hind plate causing some tenderness in its hoof and he was not comfortable in starting MERRYN OLD SOLE for those reasons. His explanation was noted.

FORTIFIED (NZ) – Slow to begin.

MAJOR ARTIE – Slow to begin. When asked to explain the improved performance today Co Trainer Mr T. Rowe advised stewards that in his opinion MAJOR ARTIE races much better when ridden quietly and has not been suited when racing handy, however after being slow to begin this allowed the gelding to be ridden more patiently which allowed the gelding to finish the race off strongly. Mr Rowe further advised MAJOR ARTIE was not supported by the stable in todays race. His explanation was noted.

PEROVIC – Stewards noted jockey C. Meehan exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ 2) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.

FIFTH POSITION – When asked to explain the disappointing performance today jockey W. D’Avila advised stewards the gelding felt comfortable in its action however was very disappointing and did respond to his riding. Trainer S. Massingham advised in view of the performance today FIFTH POSITION would be immediately retired from racing.
