RACE 1: THE WELLETH PILATES STUDIO BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 900 METRES
YANKEE MISS – Shifted out on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
AIRBORNE HOTDOG – Began awkwardly.
TEQUILA DANCER – Slow to begin.
OUR ADDICTION – Commenced to race ungenerously approaching the 500 metres then shifted out abruptly near the 450 metres and was restrained. Co trainers T & P. Rowe were advised a warning will be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
RACE 2: INNISFAIL STOCKFEEDS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 900 METRES
A LITTLE XTRA – Slow to begin.
SO FORMIDABLE – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for the majority.
YES MA – Slow into stride. Stewards noted rider D. Sparks exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100 metres (+ two) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.
SHADYVALE AL – Shifted out on its own accord shortly after the start.
RACE 3: TODDS TRANSPORT OPEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES
CITY PLAYBOY – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load.
CRYSTAL CHIEF – Laid in under pressure in the home straight and was reluctant to come to the outside of runners approaching the 200 metres.
EXCITECHOO – Slow into stride.
PENNYPACKER – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
RACE 4: INNISFAIL SEAFOODS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1200 METRES
BRING ME TO LIFE (NZ) – Was declared a late scratching at 11:30am when trainer A. Bailey was of the opinion no rider was available and had not transported the horse to the meeting. Stewards noted his explanation.
DESERT GRIT – As the gelding last raced at Cairns on the 4.12.25 it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
ROSE OF ATHENS – As the mare hadn’t raced for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly.
LOOK ‘N’ WIN – Slow to begin. Jockey Ms. S. Pointon was harmlessly dislodged on returning to scale and cleared herself free of any injuries. LOOK ‘N’ WIN was quickly recaptured after making contact with the outside running rail and underwent a veterinarian examination with no abnormalities detected.
FIVE BULLS – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages.
THREEBROTHERS – Shifted out on jumping bumping GROVERS PREDICITON. Over raced in the middle stages.
GROVERS PREDICTION – Bumped on jumping and shifted out bumping BEAN WARRIOR. Over raced in the early stages.
BEAN WARRIOR – Bumped on jumping.
RUSSIAN SUMMER – Raced wide with cover. Had a tendency to lay in approaching the 100 metres.
TUCK – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
RACE 5: ROSCOES PIAZZA BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1500 METRES
THE PROPHECY – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race and threw its head in the air near the 1100 metres when being restrained.
LEGAL CHALLENGE – Slow to begin and was steadied on occasions when crowded for room leaving the 1200 metres.
BRAND NEW (NZ) – Slow into stride.
PAR FIVE – Leaving the 1200 metres had a tendency to lay in crowding LEGAL CHALLENGE. Jockey Ms. L. Morrison was advised to show more care and make a greater effort to allow more room for runners on her inside in similar circumstances.
