Jockey R. McMahon did not provide a medical clearance after failing to fulfil his engagements at the Sunshine Coast on 22 March and as a result was not permitted to fulfil his riding engagements and replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Ipswch Cup Tickets On Sale April 7 F&M Maiden Plate – 1200m

WIN'S GREY ROSE - Jumped away very awkwardly.

WISHICOULD – Jumped away very awkwardly.

MARASKA – Severely hampered at the start. Hung out for a major part of the race.

ISTIMEWA – Overraced in the early stages.

BERNINDI – Improved onto the heels approaching the home turn and had to be restrained. Lost its off fore plate in running.

CORONATION JOURNEY – Inconvenienced soon after straightening when ISTIMEWA shifted out.


Race 2: Ipswich Cup Marquees Selling Now CG&E Maiden Plate – 1200m

FUSCUS – Began awkwardly.

CASHINKO – Began awkwardly.

AKACHETA LEE – Overraced in the early stages and as a result raced wide for the majority of the race.

TAHITIAN PRINCE – Steadied near the 400m when tightened for room. A post race veterinary examination of the horse revealed the gelding to have been galloped on and had also cast its off hind plate.

MOSS HARRY – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.

GYPSY COD – A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which compounded over the final 400m, revealed a slow recovery rate.

MUNSTER – When questioned regarding the improved performance, stable representative Mrs C. Dunn reported that the gelding failed to handle the heavy conditions at its last start when resuming from a spell. Mrs Dunn added that the colt had been gelded prior to resuming this preparation.


Race 3: Channel QTIS 2yo H'cap – 1200m

SPRING ZERO – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which trailed the field throughout, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer S. Jones undertook to trial the horse prior to its next race start..

LADY ATHENA – Slow to begin.

TYPING – Inconvenienced after travelling a short distance when tightened for room between BIG DEAL and PONTY.

PONTY – Rider B. Stewart dropped his whip leaving the 200m.

SWEET REPEAT – Became unbalanced approaching the 100m when bumped by LADY ATHENA.

CURTAILMENT – A post race veterinary examination of the filly, which compounded badly in the home straight, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer K. Schweida undertook to have blood tests conducted, the results of which he would advise stewards. He added that following the blood tests he would review the filly's current racing preparation.


Race 4: XXXX Gold Class 3 H'cap – 1200m

LONYX – Hampered at the start and then was checked soon after when tightened for room. Rider T. Harrison reported at scale that it was her intention to settle in a forward position, however after being checked at the start, this resulted in her settling in a rearward position.

WATER KISS – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Inconvenienced after travelling a short distance by RILE , which shifted in. L. Tarrant, rider of RILE, was advised to show greater care when shifting ground in future. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near hind leg.

SHOW HARMONY – Unable to secure clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. Shifted in and bumped another runner passing the 200m. Rider T. Treichel explained it was his intention to settle in a forward position however the gelding did not muster speed in the early stages. Overraced in the early stages and leaving the 900m had to be restrained from the heels of SMASHER.

RED BOWERS – Overraced in the early stages.

SMASHER – Bumped by another runner passing the 200m.

SPIHRO – Raced 3 wide without cover.

COLONY – Raced 3 wide.

MINKUS – When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, rider A. Fancourt explained that the filly travelled comfortably behind the leaders, however when placed under pressure in the home straight, raced greenly and, in her view, did not sprint as expected which she attributed to not being suited to racing inside of horses.

Race 5: Sky Racing Class 3 H'cap – 1200m

SEQUENTIAL CAT – Slow to begin.

SILIQUA – Began awkwardly, almost dislodging apprentice T. Wolfgram and as a result lost substantial ground.

PULSAR – Initially slow to begin and then was severely hampered by SILLIQUA and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, rider J. Byrne stated that despite suffering interference at the start he had anticipated settling in a midfield position. He was of the view he was forced to cover too much ground rounding the home turn and that his mount finished the race off fairly over the concluding stages. He was of the view that the gelding would appreciate a step up in distance at its next start.

HAMMERSMITH – Overraced in the early stages.

LEWAULO – Overraced in the early stages.

AKBAR – Raced 3 wide without cover.


Race 6: City Of Ipswich Class 5 H'cap – 1020m

CHAMPAGNE BLAZE – Jumped away awkwardly.

ONE TO GO – Jumped away awkwardly. Became unbalanced when briefly tightened for room leaving the 800m.

TUNED IN – Hampered at the start. Inconvenienced soon after the start when steadied from the heels of SHAPIN LADY.

SHAPIN LADY – Put in a number of awkward strides soon after the start and lost some ground. Trainer J. Wallace was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare's racing manners.


Race 7: Optus Business Centre F&M Class 3 Plate – 1350m

LOCHLEE – Jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier gate. Had to be eased when tightened for room approaching the 400m.

HURRICANE CASSIE – Jumped away awkwardly and lost some ground. Overraced in the early stages.

CHILLI BEACH – Had to be steadied in the early part of the home straight when tightened for room between the tiring GREAT TOUCH and DANDY FINE.

TEARS – Raced 3 wide without cover.

ABSOLUTELYANYTHNG – Raced wide throughout.

EVERYBODY HAPPY – When questioned regarding the performance of the mare, apprentice Appo stated that his mount began well but could not muster its customary early speed and as a result settled in a handy position with cover. He added that when pressured by TEARS after passing the 700m, and did not respond to his riding from that point and was, in his view, disappointing. Trainer M. Lakey advised that EVERYBODY HAPPY had worked well leading into today's race but was unable to explain the poor performance today. Mr Lakey undertook to report to stewards any abnormality that comes to light which may have had a bearing on the performance today. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery rate.

Race 8: Ray White Ipswich CG&E Class 3 Plate – 1350m

SELFIE – Was restrained from a wide barrier in the early stages to gain a position closer to the rail. Raced extremely wide approaching the 600m and covered additional ground on the home turn.

NEUSCHWANSTEIN – Blundered in the going rounding the home turn.

MORTGAGE LIFTER – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

AQUATOR – When questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted in the early stages on the gelding, rider R. Wiggins explained that after beginning well he elected to ride forward from the wide barrier in an attempt to gain a handy position with cover. However after passing the 1100m, the gelding commenced to overrace and despite his efforts he was unable to get the gelding to settle and as a result raced outside the leader, CHARGE ACCOUNT. Stewards accepted the explanation of R. Wiggins.

CHARGE ACCOUNT – Lost its off fore plate in running.


Race 9: Sirromet 5 Star Winery Class 4 H'cap – 1700m

EAGLE SHAMAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

CALEDONIA'S CALL – Inclined to hang out in the early part of the race. Checked from heels approaching the 400m and a short distance later when being restrained shifted out on to the heels of VIV'S VEGAS and had to be checked.

ROYALTOWN ROAD – Allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1200m. Lost its off fore plate in running.

STUBOY – Had to be checked approaching the 500m when attempting to improve to the inside of CUMANI.

ALWAYS A GIBBERER – Steadied on the home turn.

ABLE BOY – Steadied when tightened for room approaching the 400m. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

CUMANI – Hung out when placed under pressure over the final 200m.
