From GCTC, 26.12.12 – Race 6
When questioned as to the racing manners of Whiskey Allround, trainer Mr T. Gollan stated that the horse had previously shown a tendency to hang out, and from the wide alley over 900m did do again when attempting to obtain a forward position. Mr Gollan added that in future he would endeavour to place Whiskey Allroung in races over more suitable distances when drawing an inside barrier in an effort to prevent it from hanging out in future.

Race 1: All The Best At F&M Class 4 H'cap – 1020m
STICK WITH ME – Began awkwardly and got its head up.
EXCEPTS – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out.
MY LITTLE FLICKA – Blundered at start.
QUEEN CAESAR – Hung out make the home turn.
Race 2: Schweppes Class 3 H'cap – 1700m
JOLIE MADELEINE – Had some difficulty in the early part of the straight to secure clear running.
STEPS TO STARDOM – Jockey J. Byrne reported that after obtaining the lead and being able to steady the tempo in the middle stages the mare was inclined to change stride on numerous occasions and never felt comfortable on the firm track, and when placed under pressure failed to respond, and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery and to be suffering mild heat stress.
Race 3: Optus Business Centre F&M Maiden H'cap – 1350m
SWEET BUCKS – Stewards acceded to a request from trainer L. Birchley to scratch the horse at 1.20 pm as the mare had performed poorly on a firm track. He undertook not to start the horse on tracks rated Good in the near future.
AGORA – Became fractious in the gates and was slow to begin. Hampered near 400m.
SHEZ EKTRAORDINARY – Bumped at the start.
SPIRIT MINDED – Began awkwardly.
TAKE A CHANCE – Slow into stride and then failed to muster speed. Became detached in the early stages and despite the efforts of it rider took no competitive part in the event. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that the horse must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to starting again.
PARIS MOTION – Raced 3 wide.
SPANISH EYES – Shifted out abruptly across heels and was checked near the 400m. Held up shortly after straightening.
BIAGOTTI – Inconvenienced near the 200m.
Race 4: The Queensland Times QTIS 3yo Class 3 Plate – 1200m
LOFN – Began awkwardly and was slow to muster speed.
ROXY RHYTHM – Was awkwardly placed close to heels on straightening.
GRECIAN SUMMER – Jockey J. Byrne reported he was caught racing 3 wide in the early stages, however the filly travelled well in the early stages. He said from the 600m when placed under pressure it failed to respond to his riding and was most disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer B. Guy expressed his disappointment in the performance and undertook to trial the horse before its next race start.
BAM'S PRINCESS – Raced 3 wide.
Race 5: Ray White Ipswich Class 3 H'cap – 1200m
DREAM SPEED – Slow into stride.
FLIGHT ACADEMY – Inconvenienced and carried wider near the 900m by DREAM SPEED, which shifted out after being restrained from heels.
TAN TAT DIAMOND – Brushed the running rail passing the 900m when racing tight. Held up on straightening and had to be shifted back in. Apprentice M. McGillivray explained that rounding the turn he commenced to gather momentum in anticipation of obtaining a run outside VENECIA. He said when VENECIA hung out rounding the turn he was then held up at the heels of runners and when he became aware a run would not present itself in front of him he elected to steady and shift back to the inside of VENECIA to avail himself to that run.
MACKINAC ISLAND – Had to be restrained near the 900m when crowded for room by SAINT HUGO, which shifted in whilst hanging. L. Dittman, rider of SAINT HUGO, was advised that he would be expected to show more care than he did on this occasion.
Race 6: XXXX Summer Bright CG&E Maiden H'cap – 1350m
TAMBOR BLANCO – After arriving at the barriers was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the request of its rider. The veterinarian surgeon declared the gelding suitable to race. TAMBOR BLANCO then tailed off throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer B. Guy was advised to report if anything becomes apparent in the ensuing days that may have had a bearing on the performance and in the absence of anything significant the horse would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards before starting again.
ARTANIS – Overraced badly in the early stages.
HE'S A WAG – Raced 3 wide without cover.
MOCCADILES – Became unbalanced after being bumped on the shoulder approaching the 200m. Raced 3 wide.
AMADEUS LAD – Became awkwardly placed close to heels inside the 200m.
SANDON RIVER – Bled both nostrils. Connections were advised that the horse would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.
ERROL – Jockey J. Lloyd lost the use of his right stirrup near the 50m. Jockey J. Lloyd was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
Race 7: Enjoy Sirromet NYE Class 6 Plate – 1350m
VOLTAIRE LUMIERE – Overraced in the middle stages. Near the 400m became unbalanced when racing close to heels.
