RACE 1: Channel 7 QTIS 3YO Maiden SW Plate – 800m

The start of this race was delayed when FALCHION became fractious in the barriers and broke through the front. After cantering for a short distance was restrained, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

MISS RALPHIE – Tightened for room shortly after the start, had to be steadied and lost ground.

MOLLY MIYAKO – Tightened for room by another runner shortly after the start and had to be steadied.

FALCHION – Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide without cover throughout.

RACE 2: City Of Ipswich Fillies & Mares Maiden SW Plate – 1350m

SPANISH EYES – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

EXCITED DREAM – After passing the 400m had to be checked when tightened for room between VINCHERO, which had commenced to weaken and TREASURE ISLAND, which shifted in slightly. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

CAVIAR GIRL – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight when awkwardly placed at the heels of the tiring VINCHERO.

SWEET BUCKS – Inconvenienced rounding the home turn.

RACE 3: Sky Racing Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden SW Plate – 1350m

DASH THING – As J.P. Stanley was indisposed due to injury stewards permitted A. Spinks to be replaced as rider.

MOUNTAIN MAN – Trainer T. Gollan advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden back in the field today if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

ERROL – Slow to begin.

DECIBEL DAN – Hampered at the start.

COLLATERAL – Slow to begin. Momentarily tightened for room near the 1200m.

FASTQUEST – Near the 900m shifted in and brushed the running rail.

MCDINGA – Hampered rounding the home turn. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

REALLY REILLY – Stewards questioned App A. Denby regarding her handling of the gelding, particularly over the final 600m. After taking evidence from App Denby and her master and trainer of REALLY REILLY Mr S. O'Dea, stewards adjourned the matter to view previous rides of App Denby and the previous performances of the gelding.

RACE 4: Schweppes Fillies & Mares Class 3 SW Plate – 1350m

DANSOLEI – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground. Trainer K. Wood will be advised that a warning would be placed on the mare.

SHE'S WORTHY – Slow to begin.

FAICONI – Overraced in the early stages.

RACE 5: Queensland Times Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 3 SW Plate – 1350m

ENVIRONMENTAL – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

FLYING CHARGER – When the pace steadied passing the 1000m the gelding commenced to overrace and shifted out to avoid heels.

NEWS EDITOR – Hampered when taken wider on the track near the 800m and raced wide for the remainder of the event.

TERIO TOOL - Hampered when taken wider on the track near the 800m and raced wide for the remainder of the event. When asked to explain the disappointing performance jockey L. Dittman stated that the horse never travelled comfortably throughout the race and when forced wider at the 800m was immediately under pressure and failed to respond to his riding. Stable representative Craig Cavanagh stated that the normal racing pattern for the horse is to settle in a forward position however, after it met with interference at the start it settled in a rearward position which he felt did not suit the horse and attributed to its finishing position. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

WHATAWALTZ – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

RACE 6: Ray White Ipswich Class 4 H’Cap – 1000m

TRUE PASSION – Hung in under pressure over the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from the thumps.

DEEPEST – After passing the 100m shifted in away from JOINT INITIATIVE and became unbalanced losing some ground.

LADY JETSETTER – Stewards questioned App J. Orman regarding the reason for him remaining 3 wide in the early stages when it appeared he had the opportunity to restrain and take cover behind STELLARCRAFT. App Orman stated that when bracing outside STELLARCRAFT in the early stages he was of the view that runner may have gone to the rail, which would have allowed him to race to its outside. App Orman conceded that in hindsight it would have been a better option to restrain his mount rather than race 3 wide without cover throughout. App Orman further added that LADY JETSETTER had not felt entirely comfortable in its action during the race particularly rounding the home turn and in his view had not appreciated today's firm surface. Stewards advised App Orman that it would have been a better option to take cover in the early stages. App Orman was told that the ride lacked initiative and an apprentice of his experience should endeavour to take more decisive action in similar circumstances. A post race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

RACE 7: Optus Business Centre Benchmark 75 H’Cap – 1666m

CARMENERE – Disappointed for clear running between the tiring NELAMOS and ONCE AGAIN passing the 200m.

FANTISHA – For some distance approaching and passing the 200m was obliged to alter course around the heels of LANDALE.

ONCE AGAIN – Had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight until approaching the 100m.

CAILLEBOTTE – Inconvenienced approaching the 100m.

FIFTEEN LOVE – Stewards questioned App J. Orman regarding the reason for him looking to his inside near the 150m and shifting out soon afterwards which enabled ONCE AGAIN, the eventual winner, to improve to his inside. App Orman stated that his mount was under heavy pressure from the 200m and weakening and when he heard calling from J. Byrne (ONCE AGAIN), he felt he had shifted in slightly and for this reason he shifted out to relieve any pressure. After viewing the official footage it was established that ONCE AGAIN had raced in restricted room at that point mainly due to a shift from REVITALISE racing to his inside. Stewards accepted his explanation.

RACE 8: Sirromet Winery Ratings Band 0-65 H’Cap – 1200m

YAHUSHA cast a near fore plate during the preliminary and had to be replated behind the barriers. This resulted in the start being delayed.

KNIGHTWICK MANOR – Jumped away awkwardly.

REVALDOR – Inconvenienced near the 200m.

DEITCH – Near the 150m had to be steadied when tightened for room between SHARPE HUSSLER and ROCKLORD, which shifted out under pressure.

ROCKLORD – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

YAHUSHA – Jockey A. Spinks was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.
