Mr Heathcote undertook to obtain a veterinary clearance prior to the horse's next start.

WHO'S THAT CAT – Lost its near fore plate in running.

RACE 3: SKY RACING MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

GIULIANI – Began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with another runner.

MADIBA – Connections advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a mid to back position. The horse was ridden accordingly.

AMERICAN HERO – Held up for clear running and unable to improve from leaving the 500m until approaching the 150m.

STRIVE TO SUCCEED – Bumped and tightened for room at the start. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight and went to the line without being fully tested.

POLSKIE LADY – Severely tightened at the start, clipped heels, blundered and dislodged its rider. T. Harrison was examined by ambulance officers following the event, cleared of any injury and was able to fulfil her remaining engagements.

TIS MINE – Shifted in abruptly on jumping, severely tightening POLSKIE LADY on to MADIBA. Raced 4 wide without cover.

MACHONIC – Raced wide throughout.

STORM ANCHOR – Bumped at the start.

RACE 4: SCHWEPPES CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1000M

GRENACHE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance after the start when another runner shifted in. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

WONDERFUL JESTER – Had to be restrained off the heels of the tiring ALL OUR WIVES rounding the home turn. Had to be checked leaving the 100m when disappointed for a run between CELESTIAL DRAGON and PANDORA CHARM, which shifted in slightly under pressure. At a subsequent inquiry it was established that WONDERFUL JESTER had not obtained clear running and further that THOMAS THE TANK had shifted in forward of PANDORA CHARM, which resulted in PANDORA CHARM shifted in around that runner's heels. Both P. Romeo (THOMAS THE TANK) and S. Fawke (PANDORA CHARM) were severely reprimanded and advised to be fully clear of runners when shifting ground.

AWESOME SIGHT – Shifted in a short distance after the start, placing other runners in restricted room. Rider E. Ljung was advised to show greater care.

2 cents in the dollar for place of winner #9
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #2
3 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #7

WATCHED – Slow to begin. Hampered near the 600m when another runner checked from heels.

RITZY'S COMMAND – Hung in under pressure in the home straight, proving difficult to ride out.

PEQUENINOS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be short striding in front. Trainer L. Wheeler indicated that the horse would now be sent for a spell.

PUT YOUR HANDS UP – Connections advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. After being slow to begin the horse improved forward to the lead.

RACE 6: RAY WHITE IPSWICH C,G&E CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M

The start was delayed when TRIPLE JEOPARDY was examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and cleared to start.

TRY 'N CATCH ME – Shifted out at the start and bumped another runner on two occasions.

DELIGHTFUL FEELING – Stewards questioned rider R. Fradd regarding the tactics he adopted. He stated that his instructions were to ride the horse in a forward position, however after receiving interference and being buffeted between runners at the start, it raced further back in the field than anticipated. He added that when the pace slackened near the 1100m, rather than restraining DELIGHTFUL FEELING and losing momentum, he elected to allow the horse to improve forward and as a result it raced three wide without cover. He added that the horse travelled comfortably, however failed to let down when placed under pressure and notwithstanding that it had travelled wide, he was still disappointed with the its performance. Trainer M. Dunn confirmed the instructions and whilst disappointed, bearing in mind how the race was run, he was not entirely dissatisfied with jockey Fradd's decision to ride forward at that point in the race. It was further noted that DELIGHTFUL FEELING was stepping up from maiden class into a class 3 plate. After considering all relevant matters, stewards were of the opinion that jockey Fradd had erred in the first 100m by not electing to restrain his mount behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail, however they did not believe that jockey Fradd's actions were culpable under the Rules of Racing and took no further action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

RACE 7: OPTUS BUSINESS CENTRE F&M CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M

Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of J. Orman as the rider of OCEANTES.

IN THE MOMENT – Commenced to hang out rounding the home turn and continued to do so until the finishing line.

DREAM FINNISH – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

OCEANTES – Slow to begin.

RACE 8: SIRROMET WINERY CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1350M

Trainer C. Munce was fined $100 for the late declaration of C. Schmidt as the rider of JUSTTHEWAYYOUARE.

SILENT DUKE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

LITTLE WHITE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Inclined to hang out in the middle stages and shifted wider on the track, and raced wide from the 800m. Trainer D. Duryea was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse's racing manners.
