Due to the current covid restrictions the following overweights were approved-
Race 2- GULLFOSS- James Orman +1/2kg
Race 2- DAWN COLOURS +1/2kg
Race 4- FIERY EXCHANGE +1/2kg
 
As App. J  Molloy was ill and not riding at the meeting, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary.
 
Race 1: OCTOBER #ITCMENTALHEALTHMONTH Maiden Handicap 1700 metres
 
FLETCHER'S MUTINY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Approaching the 600m steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of KEATON which shifted out to improve.
 
CUTABRI – Over-raced in the early stages. Near the 600m was bumped heavily by KEATON which shifted out. Apprentice Z Lloyd was pleaded guilty to a charge to careless riding under AR131(a) in that approaching the 600m he directed his mount out to improve and made heavy contact with CUTABRI which was taken out onto RUNARD REDNUT which was forced wider on the track. Apprentice Z Lloyd had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of 15 days to commence midnight 17 October 2021 and expire midnight 1 November 2021.A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any abnormal findings.
 
RUNARD REDNUT – Near the 600m was forced wider when awkwardly placed at the heels of CUTABRI which was bumped heavily forced wider by KEATON.
 
SPIRITUAL – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
SWEAR ON A PROMISE – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 2: #THISISACONVERSATIONSTARTER RACES 27 OCTOBER Fillies & Mares Class 1 H 1200 metres
 
 
DAY PERFORMER (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced three wide throughout.
 
ZOUMANJI – Bumped on jumping. Rider R Fradd when questioned could not offer any tangible explanation to the disappointing performance.
 
GULLFOSS – Slow to begin.
 
DAWN COLOURS – Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
BROOKWYN – Trainer D Lane advised Stewards of a change of tactics, the mare will be ridden further forward than its previous starts, circumstances permitting. Began awkwardly and shortly after was checked when awkwardly placed at the heels of DAWN COLOURS and lost ground.
 
Race 3: WESTERN POWER BPL Class 4 Plate 1100 metres
 
STATIC LIFT - Trainer D Lane advised Stewards of a change of tactics, the gelding will be ridden further forward than its previous starts, circumstances permitting.
 
PAY WITH CASH – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
 
SIR ROCKET – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 4: IPSWICH NEWS TODAY QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 800 metres
 
The start was delayed when MERRON DIVA refused to load and was subsequently declared a late scratching at time 2:35pm. All monies invested on MERRON DIVA were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2:35pm:
7 cents in the dollar for the win JAY PEAK KITTEN
10 cents in the dollar for the place of winner JAY PEAK KITTEN
6 cents in the dollar for 2nd place BRAZETTI

Trainer J Bellamy was notified that MERRON DIVA will be required to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards on 2 occasions prior to the horse racing again.
 
 
The start was further delayed when DEDORS LAD reared and became cast and as a result underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:36pm. All monies invested on DEDORS LAD were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2:36pm:

HILL BILLY FLYER – Rounding the home was steadied when placed in restricted room.
 
JAY PEAK KITTEN - Trainer D Chujo was fined $200 for the late declaration of M Du Plessis as the rider of the gelding. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
FIERY EXCHANGE – Near the 450m was restrained when tightened for room to the inside of GRACIEDE which was taken bumped and taken in by BRAZETTI.
 
BRAZETTI – Near the 450m bumped with GRACIEDE.
 
FIELD OF STARS – Rounding the home turn was forced wider.
 
SUFFRAGETTE CITI – Began awkwardly.
 
GRACIEDE – Approaching the 450m bumped with BRAZETTI and shifted in as a result.
 
Race 5: IPSWICH SPRING RACEDAY Class 5 Handicap 1700 metres
 
SENRIMA TIDE (NZ) – Blundered on jumping.
 
SPACE IS DEEP (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
BRACKEN – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
STAR CENTRE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages. Raced three wide throughout.
 
SPIRIT OF EDYN – Restrained from the wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field. Rider C Eaton reported concerns with the mare’s action. A post-race veterinary examination of identified the mare to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer G Petersen was notified that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the horse racing or trialing again.Trainer G Petersen reported that he will be sending the mare for a spell.
 
Race 6: OH! JOJO BOUTIQUE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 800 metres
 
DARK SON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
REAL CUTE – Was fractious in the enclosure, kicked out and made contact with the rail. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
REMEMBER MARY – Approaching the 600m was steadied with placed in restricted room.
 
TINDER – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 600m was steadied with placed in restricted room.
 
SGURR MOR - Approaching the 600m was steadied with placed in restricted room.
 
Race 7: IPSWICH HOSPITAL FOUNDATION GO PINK Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 1200 metres
 
FLYBRIDGE – Tightened between runners shortly after the start.
 
LUCKY ENUFF - Trainer M Brosnan was fined $200 for the late rider declaration of App. J Lloyd as the rider of the gelding. Buffeted between runner shorty after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HIDDEN GLADE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
HABIB – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LITTLE NATURAL – Shortly after the start was tightened between runners and lost ground.
 
WEATHER MAN – Approaching the 1000m was steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of SINO DEFEAT which shifted in momentarily. Jockey M Wishart was reprimanded under AR131(a) for shifting in when insufficiently clear. Raced three wide for the majority.
 
STORMTROOPER – Began awkwardly and a shortly after was checked when tightened between runners and lost ground.
 
ELECTRIC SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
Race 8: MELBOURNE CUP LUNCH ON SALE RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1350 metres
 
CELTIC TIGER (NZ) - On arrival to course underwent a veterinary examination at the request of the Stewards which revealed to be lame in both the near fore and off hind legs and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3:10pm. Trainer D Lane he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the horse racing or trialing again. Trainer report that he will now consider retiring the horse from racing.
 
GINJA – Over-raced in the early stages. Jockey B Nothdurft was reminded of his obligations in riding his mounts out to the conclusion of the event.
 
GREY NOISE – Began awkwardly.
 
COME IN SPINNER (NZ) – Held up for clear running from the 700m until a point entering the home straight.
 
THE CARPENTER – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide for the majority.
 
DEAL OF POWER – Rider R Maloney reported that the mare proved slightly disappointing today however will appreciate the step up in distance in its future starts.
 
SCOTTISH PRINCE – Bumped shortly after the start. Near the 150m steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of SHADYVALE SERENADE which shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
SHADYVALE SERENADE – Began awkwardly. Near the 150m improved onto heels and shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
MISS HUSTLE – Tightened between runners on jumping. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
LITTLE JERRY – Tightened between runners shortly after the start.
