Due to current COVID restrictions, Stewards permitted the following weight variations;
 
Race 5 - INSIDE INFORMATION – M Cahill - +0.5kg
Race 6 - ALL TOO QUICK – J Guthmann-Chester - +0.5kg
              COLLEAGUES – M Cahill - +0.5kg
Race 7 - WHY WE DRINK – M Cahill - +0.5kg
 
ISHOULDBESOLUCKY was declared a late scratching at 11:40am after becoming fractious in the float en-route to the course. Trainer P Duff was advised that a vet certificate would be required for the filly prior to racing or trialling.
 
Race 1: CRIME STOPPERS IPSWICH QTIS 3YO MDN HCP – 1200M
 
 
BUIN ROAD – Slow to begin. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. Trainer R Milne reported that the gelding exhibited signs of heat stress post-race.
 
RIP WHEELER – Raced wide without cover throughout and hung out during the middle stages.
 
CHIEF ARTIE – Steadied over the concluding stages when placed in restricted room.
 
DEMBE – Approaching the 250m shifted out to obtain clear running. Rider J Orman reported that in his opinion, DEMBE failed to handle the rain effected track conditions. Post-race vet examination revealed a poor recovery and exhibiting signs of the Thumps.
 
CHATTY LADY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DA PARTY GAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced when passing the 800m, hung out during the middle stages and became unbalance when awkwardly placed at heels near the 500m.
 
 
Race 2: SURREAL SIGNS MDN PLT – 1200M
 
ANARCHY – Improved onto heels near the 900m and had to be steadied. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.
 
DOCTOR JACK – Over-raced during the early and middle stages. Rider R Jamieson reported that the gelding failed to handle the rain effected track conditions. Post-race vet examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
KABALEGA – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WAYNE’S GAMBLE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. M Cahill reported that his mount hung out throughout the event.
 
BEAN A WHILE – Near the 150m was steadied when placed in restricted room.
 
DOTNED – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground.
 
MY ODDETTE (NZ) – Bucked shortly after the start dislodging apprentice A Thompson near the 1100m. Apprentice A Thompson was examined by the ambulance officials and cleared of any injuries. Trainer W Hulbert was advised that the horse would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official trial prior to racing again.
 
Race 3: RIVER 949FM C3 HCP – 1100M
 
FREDERICK THE DANE – Over-raced during the early and middle stages, hung out rounding the home turn and near the 200m shifted out abruptly and raced ungenerously under pressure resulted in jockey Fradd being unable to fully test the gelding.
 
JOY TOO ALL – Raced wide from the 600m.
 
BETTER THAN BEST – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
COPPER SUNSET – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
GLOCK – Steadied near the 200m when awkwardly placed at the heels of FREDERICK THE DANE, which shifted out abruptly.
 
UNO AMOR – Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn.
 
DRATINI – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground.
 
Race 4: BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT C5 PLT – 1200M
 
MCCOVEY COVE – Correct weight was delayed enabling stewards to view the footage of the start to ascertain if MCCOVEY COVE had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the footage, it was established that the gelding lowered its head as the start was affected and as a result lost significant ground. In the circumstances Stewards were satisfied that, if not for the horses own actions, MCCOVEY COVE had been afforded a fair start and correct weight was given on the semaphored numbers.
 
THERE YOU ARE – Began awkwardly and bumped heavily with DALTORO. When entering the home straight was obliged to steady when awkwardly placed at the heels of ASTRO BOY TOY, which laid out.
 
DALTORO – Bumped heavily on jumping.
 
ZOULOU DANCER – Slow to begin.
 
ASTRO BOY TOY – Near the 900m commenced to over-race whilst being restrained. Laid out when rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 5: SUNDAY BRUNCH AT THE BARN C2 HCP – 1680M
 
ACCARDO – Held up for clear running from approaching the home turn until a point near the 250m.
 
JAKKALBERRY FINN (NZ) – Slow to begin. Improved onto the heels of DREAM SONG near the 1300m and was checked. Steadied from heels when the pace slackened leaving the 1200m and again near the 900m. Checked from heels when unable to improve near the 700m. Raced wide from the 800m. Shifted out under pressure near the 200m.
 
LOCA – Obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance after passing the 500m. Post-race vet examination revealed a poor recovery.
 
NORTHERN WOODS – Steadied from heels near the 1300m when the pace slackened. Obliged to alter course near the 200m to obtain clear running when disappointed for a run.
 
INSIDE INFORMATION – Steadied from heels near the 1300m when the pace slackened. Shifted wider to improve when over-racing after passing the 900m.
 
BIRCHIP TURF – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 6: XMAS PARTIES AT IEEC C1 PLT – 1350M
 
BURGUNDY RULES – Near the 400m shifted out in an attempt to improve before being disappointed and had to be steadied from heels.
 
PRIVATE CHEETAH – Over-raced during the early and middle stages. Rider R Fradd reported that his mount would benefit from a step down in distance.
 
BEATING DRUM – Raced wide during the early stages before being ridden forward to a position outside the lead passing the 800m. Apprentice M Potgieter was questioned regarding the tactics adopted in particular his reasons for pressing forward to the lead after passing the 1100m when it appeared, he may have had opportunity to obtain cover. He advised Stewards that he had been instructed to attempt to lead and that he had considered steading near the 1100m however was of the view that ALL TOO QUICK would shift closer to the fence however when this did not occur, he elected to continue forward as he felt this was his only option to obtain a position closer to the fence. Stewards accepted the explanation.
 
RATIONS (NZ) – At the request of Trainer B Baldwin was inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon and was passed suitable to race. Fractious in the barriers before beginning awkwardly, making heavy contact with ALL TOO QUICK and losing ground. Obliged to alter course near the 200m in order to secure clear running.
 
SIENNA’S AWARD – Began awkwardly.
 
SUNDUS – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
ALL TOO QUICK – Bumped heavily on jumping. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
COLLEAGUES (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground.
 
Race 7: WWW.IEEC.COM.AU BM72 HCP – 1350M
 
GETYOURGREYON – Tightened for room on jumping. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
RAGING POLE – Tightened for room and checked on jumping.
 
OCTAVIAN – Tightened for room on jumping.
 
MADDIARA – Raced ungenerously for a short distance passing the 1000m.
 
TOUJOURS L’AMOUR – Began awkwardly and bumped heavily with GETYOURGREYON.
 
BLAZING MAC – Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping away.
