SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
 
GENERAL
 
 
Race 1: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB Maiden Plate 800 metres
 
MAX'S SOURCE – Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 700m. Lost the off hind plate.
 
THE BURGER – Hung out and raced wide throughout.
 
HUSS'N'HARRY – Slow to begin.
 
THE MAGIC ONE – Slow to begin. T Brooker reported that her mount hung out throughout. Post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
FEE – Shifted in and away from GRACIEDE near the 700m and bumped MAX’S SOURCE. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LAST CALL ROSIE – Slow to begin. Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels
 
RED NEBULA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Momentarily held up for clear running when rounding the home turn.
 
Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE Maiden Handicap 1350 metres
 
SPOOKE – Raced greenly throughout and over-raced during the early stages.
 
KERCHAK (NZ) – Hung out when rounding the home turn.
FLYING ROTHE – Fractious in the barriers and was slow to begin. Trainer R Heathcote advised stewards that the gelding will now be sent for a spell. Stewards advised Mr Heathcote that a further barrier certificate would be required for FLYING ROTHE prior to next start.
 
CLAUDIUS – Whilst weakening was tightened for room near the 400m, became unbalanced and had to be checked. L Dittman, the rider of YUKANUMA, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) in that he directed him mount outwards causing CLAUDIUS to race in restricted room to the inside of KIM ALICIA and as a result became unbalanced and had to be checked. Jockey Dittman’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days from midnight 1/1/22 and up to and including midnight 9/1/22.
 
CRAIGLEA BANDIT – Slow to begin. Raced greenly during the middle stages.
 
Race 3: RIVER 94.9FM Class 1 Plate 1200 metres
 
AURON – Made heavy contact with the running rail near the 900m when placed in restricted room. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
CRIME WAVE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced in restricted room near the 400m and had to be steadied.
 
GO FACTOR – Bumped heavily and forced wider near the 900m before racing wide throughout. R Fradd reported to stewards that in his opinion the gelding did not race comfortably on the firm racing surface.
 
KISEKI MAN – Raced greenly throughout and over-raced during the early and middle stages, having to be checked from heels near the 900m and shifted out bumping heavily with GO FACTOR. Trainer D Hansen was advised that a warning would the placed on the geldings racing manners.
 
TRUE MOONLIGHT – S Tomlinson was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Race 4: FUNCTIONS @ IPSWICH EVENTS & ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE
Class 1 Plate 1200 metres
 
BOMBARDEO (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
HEAVENLY JOURNEY – Obliged to race in restricted room from the 900m and made contact with the running rail on a number of occasions.
 
REAL HUSSEY – Hung out throughout. Shifted out and bumped MISTRESS OF DOOM near the 200m. Post-race vet examination revealed no significantly abnormalities.
 
SEEKING GUIDANCE – Laid in during middle stages.
 
SKILORD (NZ) – Rider M Du Plessis reported that his mount did not handle the firm racing surface.
 
MISTRESS OF DOOM – Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 200m.
 
Race 5: SIRROMET BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 2210 metres
 
SCILAGO - Shifted wider to improve passing the 900m.
 
BURY ROAD – Over-raced when the pace slackened during the early stages, became awkward at heels passing the 1600m, before shifting wider near the 1500m to improve to the position outside the leader passing the 1300m. Rider S Collett was asked to explain the horses’ performance from the 1000m, she explained that when the pace quickened from the 800m her mount was left flatfooted and did not quicken until entering the home straight. Miss Collett further added that the gelding would have been more suited to a race with a more genuine tempo during the early stages.
 
LADY SOLERNO – Held up when unable to improve from the 700m until passing the 500m.
 
PAINTED BLACK – Slow to begin.
 
GRAND SHANGHAI – K Wilson Taylor reported to stewards that he horse was left flatfooted when the pace quickened from the 900m, he added that he had given consideration to improving forward from the 1000m and in hindsight was of the opinion that this would have been beneficial to the horses chances. Post-race vet examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
GULLFOSS – Slow to begin. Shifted wider to improve passing the 900m.
 
MORNING FARE – Hung out from the 500m onwards placing the rider at a disadvantage.
 
Race 6: THE BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT Class 2 Handicap 1710 metres
 
DIVULGE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Whilst weakening was tightened for room and had to be steadied near the 200m. Post-race vet examination revealed a minor laceration to the near fore cannon.
 
MILITARY KINGS – Tightened on jumping and lost ground. Shifted wider to improve from the 700m. Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
 
REAL DIVINE – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
LOCAL GOSSIP – Tightened on jumping and lost ground.
 
SINO DEFEAT – Became awkward when bumped near the 500m.
 
GET ON BOARD – Became awkward when bumped near the 500m.
 
TRY TO BE GOOD – Shifted in and bumped DIVULGE near the 200m.
 
BEATING DRUM – Over-raced during the middle stages after being ridden forward to the lead.
 
Race 7: GREAT NORTHERN BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1350 metres
 
MISS BULITZ – Rider reported that the mare was making an abnormal respiratory noise during the event. Post-race veterinary examination revealed the presence of blood in the offside nostril. Trainer D Reynolds was advised that the mare must gallop 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to racing again. Trainer D Reynolds was reprimanded under AR166 after leaving both MISS BULITZ and RED NEBULA unattended in the tie-up stalls for a period following this event.
 
BLACKBOOTS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance apprentice Z Lloyd advised stewards that the mare, after beginning awkwardly and settling at the tail of the field, travelled comfortably, however proved to be one paced when asked for a finishing effort and in his opinion would be better suited to races over longer distances than that of today’s event.
 
TILLY'S STAR – Over-raced during the middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
EDGE OF DARKNESS – Blundered on jumping.
 
SIENNA'S AWARD – Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 900m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
IN GREAT NIC – Raced wide throughout without cover.
 
EXPERT EYE – Slow to begin.
 
SIP IT SLOW – Laid in for a short distance passing the 900m.
 
 
Race 8: MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM ITC BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1100 metres
 
STAR MAGNUM – Blundered shortly after the start and shifted out.
 
I'LL TELL YOU NOW – Raced wide during the early stages.
 
JUBAI PRIDE – Inconvenienced shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SAKURA STAR – Inconvenienced shortly after the start. Steadied from heels approaching the 400m.
