LICENSED AND READY- Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Hung out periodically throughout and made the home turn awkwardly. On returning to scale Jockey M Du Plessis advised he believed his mount was galloped on behind in the early stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Stewards inquired into the tactics adopted on the filly particularly as to why Jockey Du Plessis persisted with electing to restrain his mount rather than allowing it to stride forward in the middle stages. Jockey Du Plessis advised that his instructions had been to ride the filly forward, preferably with cover in an attempt to get it to settle and he had not considered to shift wider as it was his mounts first start over 1200m and it had been inclined to race ungenerously at its most recent start at Doomben. On reviewing footage Stewards were of the opinion that the mount was contacted behind approaching the 1000m which Jockey Du Plessis believed contributed to its racing manners. Trainer P Butterworth corroborated the instructions and advised the filly would now be sent for an immediate spell.
