SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
GENERAL
As Jockey Andrew Spinks was injured at the Gold Coast Turf Club meeting on 19 February 2022 and Jockey T Brooker was unwell, Stewards permitted riding changes as per the Race Day summary
Stewards permitted the following overweight
Race 5 – A Mallyon - +0.5kg
Race 1: BRUNCH @ THE BARN RACEDAY QTIS Three-Year-Old Colts
and Geldings Maiden 1100 metres
Agro Again – Near the 700m was obliged to be steadied off the heels of JACK BE LUCKY. Dipped on a couple of occasions between the 700m and 500m.
Darkened Destiny – Was restless on the float enroute to the racecourse. As such was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and cleared to race. Jumped away awkwardly and bumped shortly after.
Jack Be Lucky - Bumped on jumping.
Mishani Bandit – Jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped JACK BE LUCKY. Laid in under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore. Trainer L Ross advised that the gelding would now be spelled. Trainer L Ross was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness before being permitted to race again.
Red Before Bed – Rider reported that the colt was inclined to hang out for a majority of the race and felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Three More Wishes – Slow to begin.
Twilight Boom – Raced three wide throughout.
Race 2: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS Three-Year-Old Fillies
Maiden Plate 1100 metres
Burning Bell - Jumped awkwardly inwards hampering MAHBABY. Overaced for a short distance near the 800m. Hung out making the turn into the straight and then carried wider shortly after.
Celtic Empress – Restless in the barriers and lost considerable ground after jumping away awkwardly. Got its head up on a couple of occasions when being steadied near the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a mild abrasion on the off hind.
Cirencester – Laid out making the turn into the straight.
I Am Pearl – Laid out making the turn into the straight carrying BURNING BELL wider.
Impressive – Slow to begin. Near the 800m checked when crowded to the inside of KIZMET MAGIK which had in turn had been carried in by STREET CAUSE. On Inquiry Apprentice J Cornish was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR 137 (a). After considering submissions Apprentice J Cornish was suspended from riding in races from midnight 26 February 2022 to midnight 5 March 2022. Apprentice J Cornish was advised of her rights in regard to an Internal Review.
Kizmet Magik – Raced keenly and crowded near the 800m.
Mahbaby – Hampered on jumping. Approaching the 800m got its head up on several occasions when racing fiercely and had to be steadied off the heels of SPIRIT PRINCESS and continued to be difficult to settle thereafter.
Spiccato – Raced wide throughout.
Spirit Princess – Laid out under pressure in the straight.
Watachoice – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.
Flamin' Ready – Raced wide throughout.
Race 3: FRANCIS BESGROVE BIRTHDAY Class 4 Handicap 1350 metres
Grand Zou – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Rider reported travelled well in running, however disappointed when placed under pressure and failed to run on.
Fast Train – Jumped away awkwardly and hung out in the straight.
Dream Song – Rider reported the mare had an awkward head carriage in running and disappointed when placed under pressure. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 4: MARCHAND ADDINALL 21ST BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1200 metres
Muiron – Bumped shortly after the start.
Maya Bay – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped shortly after the start. Raced four wide without cover throughout.
Battle Through – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
Bobby Axelrod – Trainer advised would be ridden off pace if circumstances permitted. Ridden accordingly.
Square Dance – Rider reported never travelled well in running and disappointed when failing to respond when place under pressure.
Bohemian Boom – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
Race 5: TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1680 metres
Tony's Decree – Jumped away awkwardly.
Gratsie – Near the 1500m was restrained off the heels of STRUT which laid in. Post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalties.
Strut – In the early stages had a tendency to lay inwards.
Local Gossip – Slow to begin.
Silverbrook Lad – Approaching the 500m raced in restricted room for several strides to the inside of IRISH THUNDER.
Race 6: KINGSLEY LAWSON LAWYERS Fillies and Mares Class 2
Handicap 1100 metres
Top Bird – Bumped at the start.
Vienna Empress – Jumped away awkwardly.
Reachforthestars - Jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped TOP BIRD.
Disco Beatz - Slow to Begin. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
Unlikelyoccurrence – Slow into Stride.
Parlour – Jumped away extremely awkwardly resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced. Raced wide throughout.
