Race 1: KTM SOLUTIONS QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres



UNDER THE COVERS – Bumped on jumping with SLINKY’S STAR. Jockey B. Pengelly advised that the gelding travelled well until entering the home straight however, was disappointing in its finishing effort. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.



ASHIKO BAY – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Raced greenly over the concluding stages.



MISHANI EMBRACE – Approaching the 800m was forced wider and raced three wide for the remainder.



TWYFORD – Raced three wide throughout.



TYRESA – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 250m, put in an awkward stride and became unbalanced.



SLINKY’S STAR – Bumped on jumping with UNDER THE COVERS. Overraced approaching the 800m and shifted out.





Race 2: HAPPY 40TH NIFTY DICKO QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres



BERDINI’S GIRL –Raced wide throughout. Laid in marginally approaching the 100m resulting in its rider having to correct the filly away from the heels of DAZZLING FLASH.



IMMORAL – Slow to begin.



BAD EDUCATION – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.



HATS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.





Race 3: RIVER 94.9FM BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1680 metres



ELIZANO – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that from the wide barrier they would attempt to obtain cover with the gelding. After being slow to begin the horse settled in a rearward trailing position.



POLEMIC – On returning to scale, jockey J. Huxtable reported that the gelding didn’t appreciate today’s track conditions.



DREAM SONG – Began awkwardly. Hampered shortly after the start.



VALLEY OF DREAMS – Began awkwardly and shifted out.





Race 4: SEVEN Maiden Plate 800 metres



DEE JAY CEE – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination due to not having started for an extended period of time, and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.



COURTINGROCK – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination due to not having started for an extended period of time, and was cleared to start. Bumped on jumping and shortly after shifted in and bumped with PERFECT LEGACY resulting in the mare losing ground.



MY MISS MOONPIE – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination due to not having started for an extended period of time, and was cleared to start. Checked and taken wider at the 500m when PERFECT LEGACY shifted out abruptly.



THE SICILIAN BOY – Raced wide throughout.



UNCLE RUSS – Returned to the enclosure with blood present in its mouth. Examined by the veterinary surgeon who reported that the gelding had dislodged a tooth.



GOOMBAY SMASH – Raced wide throughout.



GRACIEDE - Shifted in on jumping and bumped with COURTINGROCK.



PERFECT LEGACY – Began awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages, and then leaving the 600m commenced to overrace again and improved onto the heels of GRACIEDE resulting in the filly shifting out abruptly causing interference to THE SICILIAN BOY, GOOMBAY SMASH and MY MISS MOONPIE which were all carried wider on the track.

Connections were advised that the filly would be required to officially barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.



Race 5: SCHWEPPES Maiden Handicap 1100 metres



The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes due to attempts to load MISS HAPPY HOUR. MISS HAPPY HOUR was declared a late scratching at 2.51pm after the filly refused to load. Trainer L. Elliott was advised that the filly will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Prior to declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on MISS HAPPY HOUR to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:



1st - 4c win, 9c place.

2nd - 4c place

3rd - 6c place



MOONSHINE EXPRESS – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination due to not having started for extended period of time, and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly.



KUROSAWA – Began awkwardly.



GULF OF ODESSA – Slow into stride.



ROSE OF MAHER – Leaving the 800m was obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of MOONSHINE EXPRESS, which shifted in slightly.



MY ADELINE – Raced wide without cover throughout.



THE POWER OF ONE – Slow to begin. Cast a near fore plate during the course of this event.



WATCHKEEPING (NZ) – Bumped shortly after the start and became unbalanced. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg and also to be exhibiting a respiratory issue. Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was advised that a veterinary certificate including the results of an endoscopic examination will be required prior to the mare racing again.



Race 6: KINGSLEY LAWSON LAWYERS Class 3 Plate 2170 metres



The start of this race was delayed as a result of ALIRAAJ (NZ) becoming fractious in the gates, rearing and getting its front legs over the barrier partition. The gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. A warning was placed on the geldings’ barrier manners. Began awkwardly.



PUCKISH – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1500m commenced to over race and shifted wider on the track. Approaching the 1300m point was taken wider when AQUILEON (IRE) shifted out after becoming awkwardly placed at heels.



AQUILEON (IRE) – Approaching the 1300m AQUILEON (IRE) commenced to overrace when the pace of the race steadied and shifted wider resulting in PUCKISH being taken wider on the track.



LUVYOUANYTIME – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 1500m was forced wider and raced without cover from that point onwards. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.







Race 7: THE BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 800 metres



HAMILTON HILL – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination due to not having started for an extended period of time and was cleared to run.



ICED – Slow to begin.



DARE TO SHARE – Raced wide throughout.



HIDDEN EYES – Cast right fore plate in running.



Race 8: MCCOOMBES FAMILY Class 4 Plate 1200 metres



ARTHUR IN CHARGE – During the middle stages had a tendency to lay in resulting in HILO being crowded for room. Raced wide throughout.



HILO – Was obliged to race in restricted room from a point nearing the 800m until leaving the 700m to the inside of ARTHUR IN CHARGE. When asked to comment on the performance of HILO, apprentice Z. Lloyd advised that in his opinion HILO did not appreciate the firm track conditions and further added that the gelding did not race comfortably when obliged to race in restricted room in the middle stages of the race.



KING’S RULE – Began awkwardly.



PIVOTAL MOTION – Obliged to steady approaching the 800m when momentarily placed in restricted room to the inside of APPLECROSS which shifted in and away from KING’S RULE. Momentarily held up on rounding the home turn.



APPLECROSS – Jockey A. Allen dropped his whip approaching the 300m.



MAHUSSEY – Stewards permitted M. Hellyer to replace B. Pengelly as the rider of the mare, when B. Pengelly advised he was unable to make the allocated weight. Stewards noted the circumstances as to why Mr Pengelly was unable to take the ride. Slow to begin.



HOPEFUL STAR – Raced wide throughout.
