SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Ipswich Races on Wednesday 6th April 2022
 
Trainer Bradley Smith was charged and found guilty pursuant to LR 43 in that he allowed an unlicensed person to work at the Ipswich Races on Wednesday 6th April 2022 and was fined $200.
 
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 9: L. Cassidy 54kg + 1/2kg
 
As jockeys N. Callow and M. Gray were indisposed Stewards permitted rider changes as per the race day summary.
 
Race 1: GET SOCIAL @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS Two-Year-Old Class
1 Plate 1200 metres
 
SAILOR'S SECRET – Jumped awkwardly.
 
SOOTHSAYER – Jumped awkwardly. Bumped approaching the 100m when UNCOMMON VALOUR shifted out to secure clear running. Tightened for room and checked approaching the 50m when SHALOOK shifted in under riding. Jockey T. Harrison pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for permitting her mount to shift in under riding approaching the 50m when insufficiently clear of SOOTHSAYER resulting in that runner having to be checked by its rider. The licence to ride in races of jockey T. Harrison was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 29/04/2022 until midnight 09/05/2022. Jockey T. Harrison was advised of her right to internal review.
 
UNCOMMON VALOUR – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide from the 700m. Shifted out to secure clear running approaching the 100m and bumped SOOTHSAYER. Apprentice K. Wilson Taylor was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
 
TEQUILA DANCER – Bumped heavily at the start by SHALOOK. Over-raced in the early stages. Shifted out approaching the 250m after being brushed by BULSARA.  Inconvenienced approaching the 100m when SOOTHSAYER shifted out after being bumped by UNCOMMON VALOUR.
 
BULSARA – Jumped awkwardly. Shifted out to secure clear running approaching the 250m and brushed TEQUILA DANCER. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
KING OF WANCHAI – Raced wide from the 600m.
 
LUNA ROSA – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced approaching the 100m when SOOTHSAYER shifted out after being bumped by UNCOMMON VALOUR.
 
SHALOOK – Blundered on jumping, shifted out and bumped heavily with TEQUILA DANCER. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
Race 2: IPSWICH CUP TIX ON SALE Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate
1200 metres
 
The start of this race was slightly delayed due to IZARA’S DREAM and MOONSINE EXPRESS both requiring a resaddling on arrival at the barriers.
 
IZARA'S DREAM – Over-raced in the early stages and proved difficult to settle. Raced wide throughout.
 
MOONSHINE EXPRESS – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
POIGNANT – Shifted in on jumping and bumped PRITI PIPER. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be exhibiting signs of mild heat stress.
 
PRITI PIPER – Hampered on jumping.
 
TIP TOES – Jumped awkwardly.
 
UZERLI – When asked to comment of the performance of the mare, rider S. Thornton advised Stewards that UZERLI was disappointing in its finishing effort and may not have backed up from its recent performance.
 
CHAMPAGNE POP – Jumped awkwardly. Hung out leaving the 600m. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
MENORCA – Jumped awkwardly.
 
SAVAROSA – Bumped on jumping.
 
 
Race 3: IPSWICHTURFCLUB.COM.AU Colts, Geldings and Entires
Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
 
LANDSBOROUGH LAD – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not starting for an extended period and was cleared to start. Raced wide early.
 
OSO GOOD – Steadied from the heels of UNION SPIRIT shortly after entering the home straight. Apprentice J. Lloyd the rider of UNION SPIRIT was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident.
 
RAGING WATER (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
SPRIGGER – Jumped awkwardly. Raced in restricted room approaching the 700m and had to be steadied from the heels of ART HEIST which was laying in.
 
AGRO AGAIN – Jumped awkwardly.
 
ART HEIST – Laid in approaching the 700m.
 
KING SHALAA – Jumped awkwardly.
 
MIDORIO – Checked on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
SEEFELD – Fractious before the start and then began awkwardly and lost ground. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on barrier manners of the gelding.
 
UNION SPIRIT – Shifted out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

WESTLANDER – Bumped at the start.
 
Race 4: SIRROMET BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1100 metres
 
THE BIG GOODBYE – Tightened for room in the early stages and had to be steadied from the heels of PLUTOCRAT which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice K. Wilson Taylor, the rider of PLUTOCRAT, was found guilty of charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) for permitting his mount to shift in approaching the 1000m when insufficiently clear of THE BIG GOODBYE resulting that runner being tightened for room and having to be checked by its rider. After hearing submissions on penalty, the licence to ride in races of Apprentice K. Wilson Taylor was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 29/04/2022 to midnight 11/05/2022. Apprentice K. Wilson Taylor was advised of his right to internal review.  Commenced to over-race approaching the 600m and shifted out and bumped with THE BILLIONARE.
 
DARE TO SHARE – Hampered on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide.
 
THE BILLIONAIRE – Raced wide. Bumped and forced wider by THE BIG GOODBYE at the 600m.
 
BRABHAM – Held up for clear running from the 200m until approaching the 100m. Jockey L. Tarrant advised Stewards that the gelding is better suited racing in a move forward position than that of today’s event.

DOCTOR TEEKAY – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out resulting in DARE TO SHARE being tightened for room. Over-raced in the early stages.

VAPORIZING – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
 
Race 5: RAY WHITE IPSWICH BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1100 metres
 
ONE SHY RUBY was declared a late scratching @12:55pm on veterinary advice after sustaining lacerations to its legs whilst in transit.
 
SEE IT THRU – Held up for clear running from the 200m and was not fully tested.
 
VALIANT – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
Race 6: GREAT NORTHERN Class 2 Handicap 1100 metres
 
BRAVE WARRIOR – Held up for clear running in the home straight and was then disappointed for a run to the inside of PAREDO and was not fully tested in the run to finish.
 
SHOOTING ROSES (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly.
 
ROWDASH – Raced wide.
 
NO CHOICES – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 7: SCHWEPPES BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1680 metres
 
VITESSE FRANCAIS – Bumped shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAKEDON – Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to the position outside of the leader approaching the 1100m.
 
ROLLER COASTER (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly and was then bumped by VITESSE FRANCAIS and lost ground.
 
STORM HARBOUR – Over-raced approaching the 1200m and had to be steadied from heels.
 
CALM SEEKER (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
SHE'S AN EAGLE – Rider B. Thompson advised that he was of the opinion the mare had come to end of its preparation.
 
WINSTON BLUE – Slow to begin.
 
KINKUNA – Slow to begin. Rider A. Thompson advised that gelding didn’t appreciate today’s track conditions.
 
 
Race 8: SEVEN Class 1 Handicap 1350 metres
 
QUIZ SHOW – Raced wide in the early stages. Over-raced in the middle stages. Rider R. Maloney reported the gelding raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A post-race swab sample was collected for analysis.
 
BERDINI'S GIRL – Rider R. Wiggins dropped his whip at the 50m.
 
BEARHUG – Raced wide throughout. Bumped at the 200m by SCOTTISH PRINCE which laid in under pressure.
 
SCOTTISH PRINCE – Commenced to over-race leaving the 700m and shifted wider. Laid in under pressure approaching the 200m and bumped BEARHUG.
 
 
Race 9: ITC RACING NEXT WEDNESDAY Class 5 Handicap 1350 metres
 
HIDDEN EYES – Shifted out to secure clear running at the 200m.
 
TOP ORDER – Slow to begin.
 
FAMOUS – Had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on heels at the 50m between HIDDEN EYES and RIVER ROCKET which laid in under pressure.
 
ASWAAT – Slow to begin.
 
BIGGIE – Hampered on jumping.
 
RIVER ROCKET – Laid in under pressure at the 50m.
