Race 1: THIS IS A CONVERSATION STARTER QTIS Three-Years-Old Colts and Geldings 1200 metres
 
BIG DEMEANOR – Following a pre-race veterinary examination, the gelding was cleared to start.
 
COLTMAN – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages of the event. Tired over the concluding stages. Jockey G. Cartwright reported that in her opinion the gelding may have choked off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Schwenke was advised that the gelding will be required to trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to resuming. Trainer G. Schwenke advised it was his likely intention for the gelding to undergo a veterinary examination on its return to stable and would likely be sent for a spell.
 
EPIC FLASH – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
MISTER MODERATION – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide throughout.
 
OPTIMUS MAXIMUS – Trainer P. Duff was advised that as a pre-race blood sample was unable to obtained from the gelding, Mr Duff was advised that it would be stood down from competition pursuant to AR20(d) until such time a blood sample can be taken. Stewards when considering the matter permitted the gelding to start today.
 
REIGN OF POWER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
RIDE FOR LUCK – Hampered on jumping and lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn and until nearing the 200m.
 
SALAMANCAS (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: BMF Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
 
ASTERN MAGIC – Began moderately. Near the 900m obliged to steady when awkwardly placed at the heels of MEDIA SCANDAL which was taken in by IT'SMEMARIO.
 
MEDIA SCANDAL – Obliged to steady from the heels near the 900m when IT’SMEMARIO shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Jockey G. Geran was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
DIANA'S AFFAIR – Began moderately. Momentarily raced in restricted room shortly after the start.
 
IT'SMEMARIO – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, jockey G. Geran reported that at the gelding’s most recent start at Eagle Farm on the 25th of October 2023 it began awkwardly and settled further back than anticipated. With the addition of blinkers for the first time today, the gelding began better and after being caught wide he allowed it to stride forward and settle outside the leader. Laid out rounding the home turn then raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
OUT BACK BOOM – Reported that her mount was inclined to lay in during the event.
 
 
Race 3: ICARE SUPPORT SERVICES BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1200 metres
 
AIR MARSHAL – Slow to begin.
 
BRAVE WARRIOR – Laid in in the straight.
 
KUDU – Laid in and bumped with HEARSAY and became unbalanced.
 
MAYA BAY – Restrained from the wide barrier to a position closer to the rail. Held up rounding the home turn and the early part of the home straight.
 
STICK TO YOUR GUNS – Restrained from the wide barrier to a position closer to the rail.
 
HEARSAY – Near the 1100m bumped when KUDU laid in. Near the 900m momentarily raced in restricted room when BRAVE WARRIOR shifted in. apprentice J. Franklin was advised to exercise greater care when crossing. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
JUBAI PRIDE – Stewards permitted apprentice J. Williams to only claim 1kg of his allowance for acceptable reasons.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 4: FERTPRO MANUFACTURING QTIS Three-Years-Old Fillies Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
BEEN A SECRET – Began awkwardly.
 
HELLUVA SOIREE – Began awkwardly.
 
MISS MOZAMBIQUE – Bumped on jumping. Near the 1000m raced in restricted room to the inside of BEEN A SECRET which shifted in. Jockey J. Lloyd was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
O'POLLY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SHOT OUT – Bumped on jumping.
 
SHOUTS ALL DAY – Slow to begin then hampered and lost ground.
 
VIDEO VIXEN – Raced wide.
 
ROTH SAYALLOFUS – Began awkwardly.
 
CRIMSON BEAUTY – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide.
 
 
Race 5: GREAT NORTHERN Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
NITROGEN – Began awkwardly. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
TAKING FLIGHT – Bumped on jumping. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight obliging its rider to stop and straighten on several occasions.
 
DUNZOOMING – As Jockey J. Adams was to be overweight, he was replaced by Jockey J. Lloyd. Jockey J. Adams was charged and pleaded guilty pursuant to AR190(3) in that he accepted a ride for which he was to be overweight. Stewards in considering jockey J. Adams evidence and the circumstances fined jockey J. Adams $100.
 
OH WHAT A GEM – Approaching the 1100m raced ungenerously and shifted out. Obliged to steady from WHATTA WHITT when that runner shifted out. Raced ungenerously approaching the 900m and was obliged to steady from heels. Improved onto heels over the final 100m, held up and was unable to be fully tested by its rider.
 
ELLEYANNA – Began very awkwardly and shifted in. Obliged to steady from heels. Raced keenly early. Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that the mare felt awkward in its action. Near the 900m raced in restricted room. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
ALLEZIZZY – Began awkwardly. Jockey M. Hellyer reported that his mount was inclined to lay in throughout the event.
 
RISE ANGELOU – Began very awkwardly.
 
WHATTA WHITT – Approaching the 1100m raced ungenerously and shifted out.
 
AYNAT (20 - T. Marshall) – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 6: SMIRNOFF RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1350 metres
 
DREAM KNIGHT was declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 3:59pm after becoming fractious in the enclosure before dislodging its rider and refusing to proceed to the barriers. Trainer G. Heinrich was advised that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards. Apprentice C. Waddell was examined by the QAS officials and was cleared of any injury.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered all wages invested on DREAM KNIGHT to be refunded with the following deductions to apply to successful wages:
 
1st - DRAGON PINS – 3 cents the win, 4 cents the place
2nd - THE GOLDEN SOUL – 5 cents the place 
3rd - SINGER SARGENT – 3 cents the place
 
THE GOLDEN SOUL – Held up rounding the home turn and until approaching the 200m.
 
BOOMI'S BUDDY – Raced wide.
 
SINGER SARGENT – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and until leaving the 100m.
 
TRUE PATRIOT – When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance jockey K. Wilson-Taylor stated that the gelding travelled well until placed under pressure however was disappointing in its finishing effort. He further added that the gelding may have not appreciated the rain effected track.
 
PENDING – Restrained from the wide barrier to a position closer to the rail. Held up rounding the home turn and until leaving the 100m.
 
WITNESS ATTACK – Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.
 
MEMORIAL DAY – Raced wide.
 
Race 7: #MENTALHEALTHAWARENESS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1666 metres
 
Prior to the running of Race 7, the track was downgraded to a Soft 5.
 
MAPLE DOOR – Slow to begin. Approaching the 700m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Was then held up from leaving the 500m point. Carried wider rounding the home turn when BRIEF SOJOURN hung out.
 
HELEN'S DREAM – Over raced in the early stages of the event. Shifted in in its own accord at the 900m and brushed the running rail.
 
BRIEF SOJOURN – Commenced to hang out leaving the 600m point proving difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have general muscle soreness.
 
TROUBLESHOOT (NZ) – Shifted wider in an attempt to improve leaving the 1200m and raced three wide without cover for the remainder of the event. Tired over the final 400m.
 
 
Race 8: IMPERIAL RACING BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1666 metres
 
Prior to the running of Race 8, the track was downgraded to a Soft 6.
 
CHASING JACKLEY – Caught wide early before being allowed to stride forward by its rider and reach the lead near the 1000m.
 
SEA PALLING – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after contacting a gate in the enclosure and was cleared to start. Very reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer J. Edwards was advised that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards. 
 
POWER PACK – Hampered between the 600m and 400m by the tiring SEA PALLING and was unable to improve. Shifted an off-hind plate.
