GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweight:
 
Race 6. Jockey D. McGillivray +1kg (55kg)
 
Trainer K. Goldman was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of B. Wheeler as the rider of INDUBITABLY in Race 5.
 
Trainer I. Turner was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of C. Sutherland as the rider of BOOM COURT in Race 8.
 
Following the running of Race 6, after a short period of rain, Stewards downgraded the track to a Heavy 9.

Race 1: BARRIER REEF POOLS MAIDEN PLATE         2200 M

ARTSPACE (NZ) – Bumped with STATE OF AFFAIRS on several occasions in the home straight. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage. Apprentice B. Wheeler was reminded of his obligations regarding the use of his whip forward of the shoulder.
 
STATE OF AFFAIRS – Over-raced in the early and middle stages and proved very difficult to settle. Bumped with ARTSPACE (NZ) on several occasions in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have abrasions around its mouth. Trainers’ representative B. Killion was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to racing again.
 
STYNSY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Left a rearward trailing position near the 1000m and allowed her mount to stride forward to reach a position outside the leader near the 800m.
 
COSMIC INSANITY - Raced three wide without cover until approaching the 1400m.

Race 2: ACS GROUP QLD BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP         1700 M

ZOU BIG BOY – Began awkwardly and bumped BETTER YET. Taken wider rounding the home turn when FAMILY OF LEAGUE laid out.
 
BETTER YET – Bumped at the start.
 
WHISTLING SPIRIT – Inclined to lay out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
FAMILY OF LEAGUE – Inclined to lay out throughout before shifting very wide rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
LASQUETI BOOM – Jockey S. Collett momentarily lost her nearside rein in the early part of the home straight before regathering.
 
 
 
Race 3: JETS LEAGUES CLUB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M

ROTHWEILER – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in in the early part of the home straight.
 
EASY LOVE – Inclined to lay out over the final 200m, obliging its rider to stop and straighten on a number of occasions.
 
EVADE THE GAME – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
SIMPLY AMAZING – Over-raced when attempting to restrain for cover near the 1000m before being permitted to stride forward and reach the lead near the 800m. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
Race 4: WOUNDED HEROES AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP       800 M
 
After becoming fractious in the barriers, EYE PEA OH (NZ) underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 1:45pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on EYE PEA OH (NZ) be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st MAGURO 25c win, 24c place
2nd UNO MOON 5c place
 
Trainers’ representative N. Boyle was advised that EYE PEA OH (NZ) would be required to complete an official barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
I AM VOODOO - Apprentice F. Sandkuhl reported at scale that in her opinion I AM VOODOO did not appreciate todays track conditions.
 
UNO MOON – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 5: ALLISON BADEN CLAY FOUNDATION QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP         1350 M

CHARMING NIC – Jockey A. Allen reported at scale that CHARMING NIC was inclined to over race early and, in his opinion, may not have appreciated todays track conditions. Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the home turn.
 
INDUBITABLY – When asked to comment on the disappointing performance of INDUBITABLY, Apprentice B. Wheeler stated that in his opinion the filly did not appreciate todays track conditions and after being under pressure approaching the home turn, desisted from pressuring his mount. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer K. Goldman was advised that INDUBITABLY would now be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards.
 
HURRICANE ROSIE – Began awkwardly and shifted in
 
BENGAL DIAMOND – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that BENGAL DIAMOND would attempt to settle more forward. After being slow to begin, settled in a rearward position.
 
PROPOSE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 6: TAB WINTER PROVINCIAL STAYERS - HEAT - BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP   2200 M

OUTBURST – Jockey R. Thornburn reported that in his opinion OUTBURST did not appreciate todays track conditions. Jockey R. Thornburn was reminded of his obligations to desist from using the whip when his mounts are out of contention.
 
MALECON – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
THEBARBEROFSEVILLE – Taken wider momentarily when the THE RIGHT WAY (NZ) shifted out to improve near the 900m
 
FARWEST – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 1600m was obliged to check to avoid the heels of SACRED BULL, which was steadied from heels.
 
SACRED BULL (NZ) – Steadied from heels near the 1600m and shifted wider.
 
TWISTED LOVE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and was hampered by PAPAL MISS which shifted in. Held up on the heels of the tiring OUTBURST and lost ground near the 700m. Entering the home straight, blundered for a stride. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of TWISTED LOVE (NZ) Apprentice B. Wheeler reported that in his opinion the filly did not appreciate today’s heavy track conditions and proved very disappointing. A post-race veterinary revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
PAPAL MISS – Shifted in on jumping away.
 
Race 7: GREAT NORTHERN LONG RUN IPSWICH INCENTIVE - HEAT - CLASS 2 HANDICAP   1100 M

FREELAND – Apprentice T. Fenlon reported at scale that in her opinion the mare did not appreciate todays’ track conditions and was disappointing.
 
LIGHTS OF PARADISE – When over-racing, improved onto heels near the 700m and had to be steadied.
 
INTRECCIATO - Near the 600m, momentarily raced in restricted room.
 
YOU KAY SQUEEZE – Raced wide for the majority. Jockey S. Collett was reminded of her obligations to not use the whip in consecutive strides prior to the final 100m.
 
ENFLAMED – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 8: CARLTON DRY 3.5% IPSWICH INCENTIVE - HEAT - CLASS 1 HANDICAP     1350 M

APRIL (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages. Momentarily held up approaching the home turn. When asked to comment on the performance of APRIL (NZ), Jockey B. Lerena commented that the gelding did not appreciate todays track conditions. He further added that in his opinion, APRIL (NZ) may be better suited to a step up in distance.
 
BOOM COURT – Raced wide. Tired over the concluding stages. Apprentice C. Sutherland commented that despite BOOM COURT’s hard run, in his opinion the gelding did not appreciate todays track conditions.
 
KAMARIYA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have been galloped on on its near hind leg.
