GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 4 – P. Hamblin +1kg.
 
Trainer M. Dunn was fined $300 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider in races 5 and 6 by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer R. Beaton was reprimanded pursuant to LR 36(6)(a) for failing to withdraw dual acceptor HOLLYWOOD EPIC by the prescribed time. In issuing this penalty, Stewards noted R. Beaton’s good record regarding this rule.
 
Trainer R. Warzecha was reprimanded pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider for ROCKBARTON FASHION by the prescribed time.

RACE 1: VALE ITC MEMBER JERRY BUCKLEY CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1666 M

GUZUMPED – Slow to begin.
 
COUNT THE COIN – Raced keen early.
 
RACE 2: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN HANDICAP 2150 M

GAS BRIGADE – Raced keenly and proved difficult to settle during the early stages.
 
KALAMIA KING – Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
ORMOND ROAD – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
SHIRLEY PEARLY – Bumped after the start. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
CLASSIC SHIRAZ – Bumped after the start. Laid in during the early part of the home straight, obliging rider D. Thornton to correct the mare.
 
JADATAN (NZ) – Raced three wide without cover for the majority. Apprentice C. Vitler reported the mare did not feel comfortable in front following the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
PREACHABULL – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after contacting the rail in the mounting yard.

RACE 3: TAB MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M

The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes after MISS LINNY had to have its near hind plate refitted and LADY LAZARUS was resaddled on arrival to the barriers.
 
CRYPTOLOGY – Hampered after the start. Approaching the 500m, steadied from heels. Near the 250m when avoiding the heels of NORTHERN EAGLE, shifted out and checked from the heels of LIPSTICK LIES.  
 
NORTHERN EAGLE – Rider J. Huxtable could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer C. Munce was notified the gelding must compete to the satisfaction of Stewards in an Official trial prior to racing again.
 
SIGLO DO ORO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a poor recovery.
 
SOUTHOFTHEBORDER – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
VILLANDRY – Shifted in after the start.
 
LIPSTICK LIES – Bumped after the start.

MISS LINNY – Bumped after the start.
 
RACE 4: GORDON'S GIN QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD & FOUR-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1350 M

DESTINYS SUMMIT – Over the concluding stages had difficulty securing clear running and went to the end of the race without being fully tested.
 
HEAVENLY LOVE – Began awkwardly. Near the 200m, steadied from the heels of JOY A PLENTY and shifted out into clear running.
 
CELESTIAL BLAZE – Bumped on the hindquarters after the start. Raced keenly in the middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a minor laceration to its off-hind heel and an abrasion to its near hind bumper, consistent with being galloped on.
 
AQUATIER – Began awkwardly. Rider K. Zechner reported he had to make use of the mare early, which was on a quick back up. He added that AQUATIER was found wanting over the distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
READY TO IGNITE – Improved onto heels approaching the 600m. Approaching the winning post, steadied when close to the heels of DIVINE SOURCE.
 
FLY MISS ARTIE – Slow into stride, shifted out, bumped the hindquarters of CELESTIAL BLAZE.

RACE 5: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1100 M

THIEF BY NIGHT – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover.
 
MACHINE HEAD – Bounded at the start and lost ground. Held up for a run for several strides approaching the 100m before shifting to the outside of DETAIN (NZ) into clear running.
 
HOTFOOT PERFORMER – Slow into stride.
 
KIRRAGIRL – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
ZAINDARA – Raced three wide with cover.
 
ROCKBARTON FASHION – Apprentice O. Kendal reported after beginning well, the mare raced in a more forward position. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its off foreleg. Trainer R. Warzecha was advised the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to trialing or racing again.

RACE 6: THE SHED COMPANY IPSWICH BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1350 M

HOLY FLASH – Bumped after the start.
 
BETTER BE NORDY – Held up from approaching the 250m and finished the race without being fully tested.
 
HOLLYWOOD EPIC – Raced wide throughout.
 
MELTDOWN – Change of tactics – to be ridden further back with cover from wide gate. Settled towards the rear of the field.
 
ALECIA – Raced three wide throughout. Rider C. Graham reported from a wide gate and being first up from a spell, she was asked not to bustle the mare and settled further back in the field.
 
HORSBURGH – Bumped after the start.
 
TOOLATEMATE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
CLUBHOUSE – Raced keenly during the middle stages.

RACE 7:PRECINCT URBAN PLANNING CLASS 2 PLATE 1200 M
 
SHELSTEIN – Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted out.
 
ARAMINTA – Raced three wide without cover.
 
MOONFLEET – Slow into stride. Passing the 400m, hung out, became badly unbalanced and lost its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M. Hoysted was notified MOONFLEET must perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an Official trial prior to racing again.
 
BREEZIN' – Slow into stride.
 
INSPIRED DREAM – Raced four wide without cover.
 
DESTINYS PINNACLE – Reared as the start was affected and lost ground. Raced keenly during the early and middle stages.
