SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT


GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 2. A. Mallyon +0.5kg


RACE 1: LIVING TURF MAIDEN PLATE           800 Metres

FORTUNATE DRAGON – Slow to begin. When under pressure in the straight, laid out.
 
MISHANI FLASH – Underwent a veterinary examination after having not started for an extended period of time.
 
DIAMANTINA ROSE – Brushed the rail near the 500m and for several strides approaching the 400m, raced tight to the inside of CHARLOTTE’S HERE (K. Wilson-Taylor). Rider K. Wilson-Taylor was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. When racing to the inside of CHARLOTTE’S HERE approaching the 200m, steadied and shifted to the outside of that mare into clear running.
 
DOWNTOWN EVIE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.  
 
SHE'S SO SWANK – Slow to begin.
 
JOYFUL CONQUEST – Brushed with MISHANI FLASH near the 300m. App S. Champkin reported her mount raced greenly throughout.


RACE 2: TAB CLASS 4 HANDICAP          1100 Metres

PANTELONE – Raced wide without cover throughout. Both horse and App J. McMurray became unbalanced round the home turn after being bumped by MAYNE (J. Huxtable), which was attempting to shift out. Rider J. Huxtable was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Shortly afterwards, again was bumped. 
 
TREPORTI – Had difficulty obtaining clear running for the majority of the home straight when racing tight with MAYNE.
 
MR MIDNIGHT – Resaddled on arrival at the barriers. Slow to begin.


RACE 3: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN PLATE          1200 Metres

BLACK ASSASSIN – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
COLINTON – App J. McMurray reported the mare did not feel right in its action during the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
HE IS THE KISS – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up for clear running from the 400m and went to the end of the race without being tested.
 
SIR WINNIE – When under pressure in the home straight, laid in.
 
MISS DRAMATIC – Raced four wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
SORRENTI – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
CONFISERIE (NZ) – Over-raced in the early and middle stages and wide without cover from the 800m. Rider D. Thornton could offer no explanation for the performance of the filly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Representative for Trainer C. Waller was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for its poor performance.
 

RACE 4: TEMPUS TWO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP             800 Metres
 
SPEEDY ONE – Bumped near the 300m. Apprentice E. Lang reported the gelding, which was resuming from a spell with a large weight impost, was caught wide and will take benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
STATE IN TEXAS – Slow to begin. Over raced in the middle stages
 
REVALENE – Began awkwardly. Contacted the rail near the 500m and became unbalanced.
 
DON'T BE DRAMATIC – Began awkwardly.
 
HOKUSAI – Raced wide round the home turn.
 
LEICA PHERRARI – Rider J Bayliss replaced App J Hampson, who injured her hand at the Gold Coast jump outs on 13th August. As rider J Bayliss was indisposed, he was replaced by D. Thornton. Hung out round the home turn. App Hampson will require a medical clearance prior to riding again.
 
LOVING ANGEL – Approaching the 400m, shifted out, bumped SPEEDY ONE and became unbalanced.
 
LI'L REX – Began awkwardly. Brushed the rail near the 500m.
 
 

RACE 5: GORDON'S GIN RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 HANDICAP               1675 Metres

KALKANLI – Raced wide until the 1000m.
 
JACKS AND SODA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after blood was found to be present in its mouth. Made the crossing near the 1500m awkwardly. 
 
PELE PRINCESS – Raced wide for the majority.
 
MINGARDOS (NZ) – Raced wide without cover throughout. Rider T. Brooker reported her mount raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
CANISTER – Raced keenly in the middle stages.


RACE 6: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP            1200 Metres

BOLD JULIUS – Slow into stride.
 
DEFERENTIAL – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported from the wide gate, he was obliged to settle further back, and despite racing keenly with a large weight import, was satisfied with the gelding’s performance.
 
JAKKALBERRY FINN (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
PRIVATE TENDER – Shifted out on jumping. Raced three wide without cover from the 800m. Apprentice J. Franklin reported the gelding was obliged to race wide without cover and when asked for an effort in the straight was somewhat disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
LAVONI – Hampered between runners on jumping.
 
READY GREY – Raced four wide without cover from the 800m.
 
HEADLINE LEGEND – Passing the 1100m, changed stride on several occasions and became momentarily unbalanced in its action.
 
 

RACE 7: ITC MEMBERSHIP NOW OPEN BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP               1350 Metres

ESTRAPAZ – For several strides passing the 500m, laid out. Eased down passing the 100m. App. J. Franklin was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race, where possible.
 
DISSELATION – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages when wide without cover throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn and in the straight laid out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer G. Thornton was advised a warning would be placed on DISSELATION for hanging out.
 
ACAPULCO GIRL (NZ) – Near the 1000m, steadied when momentarily awkward on the heels of ESTRAPAZ (App. J. Franklin), which shifted in before being straightened. App J. Franklin was advised to exercise more care. Rider R. Maloney could offer no excuse for the performance of the mare other than the three weeks between starts. 
 
FIREFORCE – Began awkwardly.
 
MASTER ARTIST – Slow to muster speed. When questioned as to whether he rode the gelding to the end of the race, app J. Williams stated he eased on his mount two strides prior to the winning post as he was concerned that he was making ground on the heels of ACAPULCO GIRL, which was steadying in front of him. After considering the evidence, his explanation was accepted, however; App Williams was reminded of his obligations where possible, to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.
 
DIAMOND EPIC – Began awkwardly.
