Stewards approved the following overweight:

As Jockey A. Goindasamy was ill, rider replacements were made as per the Meeting Summary Report. 


RACE 1: TAB MAIDEN PLATE           1200m
 
VIDEO VIXEN was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 12.34pm after becoming fractious in the barriers.  Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on VIDEO VIXEN be refunded with the following deductions to apply to all successful wagers placed prior to 12:34pm:
 
1st MELDUBIOUS 0c win 1c place
2nd CHAMPAGNE TOWER 4c place
3rd TSZUYA 2c place
 
Co-trainer B. Rodgers was advised that VIDEO VIXEN would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Following the running of this race, Jockey R. Maloney and Apprentice O. Webb were assessed by QAS, with Jockey R. Maloney deemed unfit to take his remaining engagements. Jockey Maloney was advised that he will require a medical clearance prior to riding again. Apprentice Webb was cleared to fulfill her remaining engagement.  

BLACK ASSASSIN – Began awkwardly and bumped.
 
IMPERIAL RED (NZ) – Commenced to over race near the 800m.
 
LECAN – Stewards acceded a request from Trainer A. Freeman to wear pre-race earmuffs only, not earmuffs to race as advertised. Trainer A. Freeman was reprimanded pursuant to AR206(2) for presenting the gelding to race with incorrect gear. This information was disseminated via social media, on course broadcast and Sky Broadcasters. Blundered on jumping.
 
MELDUBIOUS – Began awkwardly. Over raced during the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer’s representative for the Archibald stable, T. Pollard was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the gelding.  
 
RISKY MISSION – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHAMPAGNE TOWER – Bumped on jumping.
 
TSZYUYA – Over raced in the early stages.  
 
SILVER SPOON – Shifted ground under pressure down the running.
 
GOLD STARS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
VIDEO VIXEN – Change of tactics – to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Late scratching at barriers.
 

RACE 2: RIVER 94.9 INAUGURAL NETWORKING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP        1350m

MAYOR OF KINGSTON – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
WORTHY WAY – Crowded and awkwardly placed on heels on jumping.  
 
MISHANI MOET – Raced fiercely in the early stages when being restrained to obtain a position with cover. Settled wide with cover and raced keenly for the majority.  
 
QUEEN JEDDAH – Began awkwardly. Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 300m.
 
VOODOO LASS – Bumped on jumping. Laid out under pressure down the running.
 
VOSTOKOVA – Bumped on jumping.
 
MINNIE VEGAS – Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced wide throughout.
 
ALL TOO FOXY – Raced keenly on heels passing the 600m.
 
SHIP HAPPENS – Jockey P. Hamblin was replaced by Jockey K. Zechner after being unable to make the allotted weight on the gelding. Jockey Hamblin was also severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 227(a) in that his actious could have led to a breach of AR209 specifically that he unintentionally weighed out without his safety vest. Mr Hamblin was also fined $200 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight and requiring to be replaced.   
 
PIERTAGA – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when rounding the home turn and when under pressure down the running.


RACE 3: ALL STATES WIDE LOAD ESCORTS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP               1350m

BEST COFFEE – Began awkwardly and bumped. Approaching the 400m, when attempting to shift out to improve bumped with ROCKRATA on several occasions before then being held up for a short distance leaving the 300m. Jockey K. Zechner was fined $100 pursuant to AR209 for negligence in that he weighed out without a surcingle and required re-weighing consequently delaying the race by approximately 3 minutes. In determining penalty, Stewards noted Jockey Zechner’s unblemished record in relation to this rule.
 
JACKS AND SODA – On arrival at the barriers, had the tongue tie adjusted. Steadied from heels and shifted wider near the 1200m. Laid in passing the 200m despite the efforts of its rider. Jockey B. Thompson reported that the gelding raced flat. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
SWITCHBLADE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
BOLSHEVIC ROAD – Began awkwardly. Steadied from heels approaching the 1100m. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
FORT WILLIAM – Raced wide throughout.
 
BONJOUR RUPERT – Awkwardly placed on heels on jumping and lost ground. Raced keenly for a short distance near the 1000m. Apprentice B. Wheeler reported that his mount was inclined to lay in from the 500m. Laid in near the 150m having to be corrected.
 
EYELEFTIT – After beginning only fairly, was ridden conservatively in the early stages to obtain a position with cover nearer to the running rail.
 
INTRECCIATO – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Over raced in the middle stages. Trainer K. Martin was advised that INTRECCIATO would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
SNITCH'N'SNATCHING – Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 1200m, shifted out and inconvenienced JACKS AND SODA. Apprentice Graham was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident for failing to stop riding and straighten her mount.
 
 

RACE 4: GREAT NORTHERN RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP                1350m
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 10 minutes when HAKATERE became fractious and broke through the barriers, dislodging Apprentice J. Williams, eluding capture for some time and was declared a late scratching at 2.20pm. The barrier of VON BEE opened prematurely as a result of HAKATERE being fractious and was able to be quickly restrained before undergoing a veterinary examination and being cleared to start. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on HAKATERE be refunded with the following deductions to apply to all successful wagers placed prior to 2:20pm:
 
1st HARLEY CHARLIE 14c win, 20c place
2nd BOKUDEN 19c place
3rd VON BEE 16c place
 
Trainer M. Freedman was advised that HAKATERE will require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Apprentice J. Williams was assessed by QAS and stood down from his remaining engagement after striking his right foot on the barrier partition. Apprentice Williams was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to riding again.

BOKUDEN – Was resaddled on arrival at the barriers.
 
CLUBHOUSE – Crowded for room near the 1000m. Held up for clear running and entering the home straight until a point approaching the 100m.
 
HARD TO DISMISS – Stewards acceded to a request from Trainer B Healey to permit the mare to race in a nasal strip. Trainer B. Healey was fined $200 under AR206(2) for failing to declare a gear change by the prescribed time. Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up for clear running entering the home straight and for the duration of the home straight, going to the line without being tested.
 
PRETTY LITTLE LASS – Shifted in approaching the 1000m inconveniencing HARLEY CHARLIE. Apprentice C. Sutherland, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Raced keenly for some distance passing the 1000m. Improved onto heels at the 150m and shifted wider to obtain clear running.
 
CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS – Crowded and bumped on jumping.
 
FIELD AGENT – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority. 
 
HARLEY CHARLIE – Bumped on jumping. Restrained from heel approaching the 1000m. Raced keenly for some distance thereafter.  
 


RACE 5: AUSTBROKERS COMSURE OPEN HANDICAP         1100m

SHALAILED – Connections advised a change of tactics – to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Knuckled on jumping.  
 
HEARTONI – Jockey J. Bayliss dropped his whip passing the 200m. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.
 
MY SNOW QUEEN – Raced wide until the 800m.
 
RALPHIE – Turned its head into the adjoining barrier stall as the start was effected and was consequently slow to begin. Trainer K. Doughty was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Raced keenly in the middle stages, then raced fiercely onto heels near the 800m, shifting wider and racing wide from that point on.
 
FLYING BANJO – Slow to begin.
 

RACE 6: DAVID GRANT & ASSOCIATES - SOLICITORS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP      800m
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 5 minutes when, after being loaded into the barriers, MILESTONE became fractious, leapt through the front of the barriers dislodging Jockey T. Brooker galloping riderless before being recaptured and declared a late scratching at 3.30pm. The barriers were then re-tested prior to re-loading the field and commencing the event. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on MILESTONE be refunded with the following deductions to apply to all successful wagers placed prior to 3:30pm:
 
1st CAMPAI 13c win, 14c place
2nd STATE IN TEXAS 9c place
3rd HERBIE TOWN 15c place
 
MILESTONE underwent a veterinary examination which revealed a wound to its right hind leg which was treated by the oncourse veterinarian.  Trainer J. Healy was advised that MILESTONE will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Further Mr Healy was advised that MILESTONE will require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Jockey T. Brooker was stood down from her remaining engagement to allow time to be assessed by QAS and was stood down under the QRIC Concussion Policy and advised a medical clearance and Cognitive test would be required prior to her riding again.
 
CAMPAI – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, Trainer S. Morrissey advised that CAMPAI was more suited by the distance of todays event and a more forward showing had been expected.
 
STATE IN TEXAS – Improved onto heels having to be momentarily steadied and laying out near the 500m.
 
GYPSY TRICKS (NZ) – Tightened and buffeted on jumping.
 
DON'T BE DRAMATIC –Crowded on jumping, shifted in and bumped on the hindquarters, before being bumped again by SONIC ARROW. Raced keenly on heels near the 450m.
 
HERBIE TOWN – Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 450m before shifting in. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
BAD FOREST – Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced keenly on heels near the 500m.
 
SONIC ARROW – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped on the hindquarters becoming unbalanced and shifting in further. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
LI'L REX – Laid in rounding the home turn. Bumped near the 150m.  
 
ON THE TARGET – Bumped near the 150m.
 

RACE 7: AUSSIE HOME LOANS - FOREST LAKE & IPSWICH CLASS 1 HANDICAP    1690m

HE'S A SAINT (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped. Held up in the early stages of the home straight until shifting in and bumping JADATAN which was commencing to weaken. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester’s whip became entangled for a short distance with Jockey L. Dempsey leg (WHISKEY TOWER) near the 50m. 
 
LOCH AWE – Near the 1400m, commenced to race keenly when crossed and shifted out marginally. 
 
BIT OF GRUNT – Bumped several times on jumping. Held up rounding the home turn and the early stages of the home straight until a point leaving the 200m.
 
REVELAIDE – Laid in and bumped HE’S A SAINT near the 50m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
KALKANLI – Restrained from heels near the 1400m when shifting in.
 
HAZEY HILL – When queried regarding the seemingly improved performance, trainer T. Hurley stated that in his opinion, the gelding was under represented in the market and the gear change of removing winkers, and adding blinkers again, the stable expected an improved performance today.
 
TORTILLA – Began awkwardly.
 
THE MANIPULATOR – Slow to begin. Raced keenly on heels near the 1300m.
 
 

RACE 8: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP         1350m

ANTONITO – Shifted in approaching the 1000m when not fully clear of ZOUSAIN. Apprentice J. Franklin was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and clinical signs of the thumps.
 
MAYNE – Bumped on jumping. A post-race veterinary clearance revealed a cardiac arrythmia. Trainer M. Wilson was advised that MAYNE will require a veterinary clearance inclusive of an ECG, followed by a 1000m gallop and cardiac auscultation by a veterinarian prior to racing again.
 
LION CLASS – Crowded soon after jumping and had to be momentarily steadied. Approaching the 1100m was momentarily hampered when TOOLATEMATE shifted in when insufficiently clear. Bumped heavily by DIAMOND EPIC over the concluding stages.
 
TOOLATEMATE- Shifted in when not fully clear of LION CLASS near the 1100m. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding as a result of this incident.
 
MILTON ROAD (NZ) – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
WRITTEN FAME – Raced wide for the majority. Following her engagement in this event Apprentice O Webb advised that she had a worsening headache following an earlier incident in the barrier. Apprentice Webb was subsequently stood down under the QRIC Concussion Policy and advised a medical clearance and Cognitive test would be required prior to her riding again.
 
AITUTAKI – Raced wide for the majority.
 
DIAMOND EPIC – Trainer R. Beaton was advised that a warning will be placed on the pre-race manners of the mare after proving reluctant to travel to the start. Began awkwardly. Shifted out under riding over the concluding stages and heavily bumped LION CLASS.  Apprentice B. Wheeler was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
ZOUSAIN BOLT – Momentarily hampered approaching the 1000m.
 
BORN FEARLESS – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up for clear running rounding home turn and early stages of the home straight.
 
ECHO HUNTER – Slow to begin.
