SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT


GENERAL
 
As rider J.Bayliss was unavailable due to personal reasons, he was replaced as per the Stewards race day summary.
 
Stewards approved the following overweight request:
Race 2 – J. Huxtable +.5kg (56.5)
Race 4 – M.Hellyer +1kg (55)
 
Prior to Race 1, the track was upgraded to a Good 4 at 12:26pm.

RACE 1: NATIONAL THOROUGHBRED WEEK QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 800 M

The start of this event was delayed approximately three (3) minutes when HELLO PUNTERS became fractious and reared in the barriers, resulting in the gelding needing its saddle readjusted. Subsequently underwent a veterinary examination.
 
HELLO PUNTERS  - Hampered and taken in passing the 600m. Laid out and approaching the home turn.
 
CLASS ANGEL – Fractious in the enclosure resulting in rider B. Lerena becoming dislodged. Fractious again behind the gates resulting in B. Lerena dismounting. Trainer O.Cairns was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for its behavior. Passing the 600m was inconvenienced when HELLO PUNTERS shifted in after being hampered by TENGUN JESSIE (M.Hellyer), which shifted in before being straightened. Rider M. Hellyer was notified to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
HIT THE KEY – Slow into stride.
 
MISHANI VISION – Held up for clear running from the 450m to the 350m.
 
TENGUN JESSIE    - Slow into stride. Shifted in passing the 600m. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
TOP ROSE   - Trainer G. Cornish was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting with incorrect gear.
 
WALLY'S BOY – Late withdrawal at 12:26pm due to transport difficulties.


RACE 2: RACING HEARTS MAIDEN PLATE   800 M

The start of the event was delayed approximately six (6) minutes when REVANTAS broke free from the Clerk of the course and galloped a considerable distance before being caught. It was established that when being mounted by App C. Sutherland, the gelding contacted the gate upright, took fright and broke free. REVANTAS was declared a late withdrawal at 1:49pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on REVANTAS be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st BETTA BEING SINGLE 12c win 4c place
2nd BOLD CHANGE 12c place
3rd PRUCIA  30c place

BOLD CHANGE – Slow to begin.
 
BETTA BEING SINGLE – Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
MISTRESS CHARLOTTE  - Inconvenienced rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its near hind. Trainer B. Gorman was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate before racing again.  
 
MAGNETIC ISLAND – Slow into stride. Made the home turn awkwardly, shifted out and inconvenienced MISTRESS CHARLOTTE. In the straight laid out, proving difficult for rider H. Van Der Hoven.

RACE 3: THE INDUSTRY SCHOOL RATINGS BAND 0-58 HANDICAP   1680 M
 
When correct weight was being given on the numbers 7-6-10-8 as semaphored by the Judge, it was noted the TAB was displaying the placings 7-6-8-10. After being advised of the error the TAB corrected the placings to read 7-6-10-8.

WEST CORK – Raced keenly in the lead. When giving ground over the concluding stages, steadied when racing tight to the inside of BATTLESPACE and consequently went to the end of the race without being fully tested.
 
DESERT LEGEND  - Raced three wide without cover through the early and middle stages. Rider K. Wilson-Taylor could offer no explanation for the performance other than being caught wide for most of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
PERRI LASS - Shortly after the start contacted on the hindquarters. Inconvenienced passing the 100m.
 
TECHNA – When under pressure passing the 100m, shifted in causing some inconvenience to PERRI LASS.
 
BATTLESPACE – Held up for a run passing the 500m until near the 300m.
 
BRINGME –  Began awkwardly and shortly after the start contacted the hindquarters of PERRI LASS.
 
FUNKY ME – Held up for a run passing the 500m until near the 300m
 
EARLSTON – In the early stages raced keenly, when wide without cover.
 
TERMITE – Slow to begin. When leaving the enclosure got its head up, contacting rider N. Tomizawa’s chest. Following the race, rider N. Tomizawa complained of pain to his ribs, was examined by QAS and subsequently transported to hospital. N. Tomizawa will be notified he requires a medical clearance before riding again.


RACE 4: TAB BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP     800 M
 
The start of the event was delayed approximately three (3) minutes when SPARTUS got both front legs over the barrier partition for some time and was released, along with CAMPAI and SHELLY’S ACE. SPARTUS was declared a late withdrawal at 2:57pm after undergoing a veterinary examination. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on SPARTUS be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st CAMPAI 18c Win 16c place
2nd RUSSIAN MINT 25c place
3rd MY NAME IS 20c place
 
Trainer T. Gollan was advised SPARTUS would require a further barrier certificate before racing again.

RUSSIAN MINT – Rider J. Huxtable reported he contacted his right foot on leaving the gates.
 
MR ENCORE – Trainer G. Richardson was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting with incorrect gear.

SHELLY'S ACE – Slow to begin


RACE 5: GORDON'S GIN CLASS 2 PLATE     1680 M

PRIDE OF SAVABELLA – Underwent a saddle adjustment behind the barriers.
 
LIVALITTLE (NZ) – Rider R. Maloney reported on pulling up, the gelding felt short in front and might be suited to tracks with more give. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
RUGBY – Change of tactics-intention to lead. Settled just off lead. Resaddled at the gates.

PELE PRINCESS - Near the 200m was inconvenienced and taken out by CHAMPAGNE ROUGE, which was shifted out by RINGERS REWARD (K. Wilson Tyalor), which was improving to the outside of HAZEY HILL. Rider K. Wilson-Taylor was advised to exercise more care.  


RACE 6: GREAT NORTHERN BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP          1100 M

DUNE AND DUSTED – Raced keen early.       
 
FAST FUSION - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination. Laid out from the 500m until on straightening.
 
SAGA'S GIRL – Contacted the rail behind the barriers and underwent a veterinary examination. Slow into stride. Following the running of the race, rider J. Huxtable was examined by QAS and stood down for his remaining ride. J. Huxtable was notified he would require a medical certificate before riding next.

EXCELOQUENT – Began awkwardly, and lost ground when tightened by A TOUCH FROM FAYT. Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Rider A. Jones explained after losing ground at the start, she considered coming back and looking for cover on the filly to avoid being caught wide, however; the pace of race steadied about this point, so she elected to go forward and put speed into the race. She added A TOUCH FROM FAYT commenced to race keen and obliged EXELOLOQUENT to sit three wide without cover for the majority of the event.

RACE 7: BARRIER REEF POOLS CLASS 5 PLATE   1350 M         

GIVING DELIGHT – Shortly after the start, steadied when tightened between I AM A MARVEL and HOTFOOT PERFORMER, which shifted out, and as a result settled further back.
 
I AM A MARVEL – On leaving the gates, touched the heel of SUPER QUICK and knuckled. In the early stages, raced wide without cover and near the 900m was carried very wide. Rider A. Jones reported despite settling much further back than usual, the gelding failed to respond when placed under pressure and would be better suited to tracks with more give in them. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance before racing again.
 
HOTFOOT PERFORMER  - Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 900m steadied and shifted out from the heels of SUPER QUICK, obliging I AM A MARVEL to race wider.
 
SUPER QUICK – Began awkwardly, shifted in and dipped. Raced three-wide without cover in the early and middle stages before being carried wider near the 900m by WOWIT’S WILLYWONKA, which shifted out.
 
BELLACIAOCIAO (FR) – Slow into stride.


RACE 8: SEVEN NEWS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP          1350 M

ZOUSAIN BOLT – Late withdrawal at 12:42pm on veterinary advice. Stable representative T. Pollard was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
AMBASSADORS – On leaving the gates shifted in and bumped RUBYDOO.
 
AMENOPHIS – Got its leg up momentarily in the barriers. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination. Slow to begin. Raced wide around the home turn.
 
BADDA BOOM BABY - Near the 300m steadied when tightened by AMENOPHIS (B.  Lerena), which shifted in before being corrected. Rider B. Lerena was severely reprimanded and advised he must make a greater effort sooner to straighten his mounts.
 
RUBYDOO – Bumped at the start.

BOKUDEN –Passing the 300m was momentarily tightened between TARADALE and BADDA BOOM BABY, which was taken in by AMENOPHIS.
 
TARADALE – Raced keenly in the early stages and three wide without cover from the 700m.
