Race 3: RACING HEARTS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1100m
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor the rider of 3rd placed MEET GEORGE reviewed vision of the home turn and straight and elected not to lodge an objection.
Subsequently, Stewards then considered an objection lodged by Jockey A. Mallyon the rider of the 4th placed IMPENDOR against 3rd placed MEET GEORGE (K. Wilson-Taylor), alleging interference near the 200m. Stewards after hearing evidence from the relevant parties and viewing the stewards patrol footage, were of the opinion that in the vicinity of the 200m, MEET GEORGE commenced to lay in, momentarily bumping with THE HAMO (A. Thompson) to his inside, resulting in MEET GEORGE becoming unbalanced and shifting out abruptly, as IMPENDOR simultaneously laid in momentarily. Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the interference suffered was solely the result of the shift from MEET GEORGE. Stewards also considered the head margin, the proximity to the finish line and how both runners finished the race off over the concluding stages and could not be satisfied that had this incident not occurred that IMPENDOR would have finished ahead of MEET GEORGE at the conclusion of the event and therefore the objection was dismissed, and correct weight given on the judges semaphored numbers.
