A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Leaving the 300m, was momentarily inconvenienced when LENAPE VIBE was carried out by MAN OF THE TOWN which shifted out to improve. Apprentice J. Newman the rider of MAN OF THE TOWN was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

Race 5: BARRIER REEF POOLS CLASS 2 PLATE 2150 M

VON BEE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the middle stages.

REVELAIDE – Slow to begin.

GOOD PHILLY – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today, in particular her riding near the 1300m, when trailing TAJAWAL (IRE), REVELAIDE then secured a position in front of GOOD PHILLY and also her riding from the 700m until approaching the 400m. Apprentice O. Kendal explained that with no firm instructions and with the step up in distance, she elected to allow the mare to settle back, which is consistent with its last start. She further added that as GOOD PHILLY had a tendency to over-race, she was mindful with the significant step up in distance and elected to allow the mare to travel comfortably, rather than pressure her mount to maintain a position behind TAJAWAL (IRE). Apprentice O. Kendal went on to explain that leaving the 700m, she applied some pressure with her spurs to the mare and bearing in mind the step up in distance from her last start, she felt she was better served looking for runs to the inside in order to save ground rather than improve wider around other runners. Apprentice O. Kendal, after reviewing footage with Stewards, agreed that in hindsight she would have been better served to continue following TAJAWAL (IRE) and not allow REVELAIDE to improve into a position in front of her near the 1300m. Stewards when assessing this matter and the level of experience of Apprentice O. Kendal took the matter no further other than to advise apprentice Kendal that her ride would be referred to the Racing Queensland training department for further guidance.

MAD ANA – Began awkwardly.

SHEDRIVESABENTLEY – Slow to begin.

Race 6: GORDON'S GIN FILLIES AND MARES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP         1350 M

I'LLTELLYOUSO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide.

RESOLUTE LADY – Began awkwardly and shifted out. When asked to comment on the performance of RESOLUTE LADY, Jockey C. Graham reported that after beginning awkwardly, she was obliged to make use of her mount in the early stages to settle in a forward position and in her opinion this may have had a detrimental effect on the mares finishing efforts.

Wilson- Taylor reported that he became concerned with the gelding’s action over the concluding stages.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer D. Bowen reported that the gelding had not raced for a month and in his opinion this contributed to the gelding tiring in the home straight. He further added that he would report back to stewards the condition of ICEWATER in the subsequent days.
