SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT


GENERAL

Stewards inspected the track and upgraded it to a Good 4 at 11:36am.
 
As Jockey H. Richardson was injured at Gatton on 09/01/26 she was replaced as per the race day summary.

RACE 1: TAB MAIDEN PLATE      800 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 mins, owing to DOOM CITY becoming fractious in the mounting yard and failing to proceed to the barriers. Subsequently, DOOM CITY was declared a late scratching at 12:33pm.Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on DOOM CITY be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st BETTER SWEET 1c win, 2c place
2nd KVAS 7c place
3rd IBEGOOD 3c place
 
Trainer C. Allardyce was advised that DOOM CITY would now be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
AIR CONTROL – Approaching the 100m, was momentarily hampered when BRAVE EMMA shifted out. Jockey M. Saava the rider of BRAVE EMMA was advised to exercise greater care and stop and straighten her mounts when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
 
BOLD LOUIE – Bucked approaching the 600m. Trainer G. Taylor was advised that the gelding would now be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
CLAW MACHINE – Shifted out slightly near the 200m.
 
BELLAH'S HOPE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted out.
 
BLOODS A RUSHIN' – Became fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected, was subsequently backed out and underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.
 
BRAVE EMMA – Began awkwardly. Near the 500m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of KVAS, which shifted in. Jockey F. Larson the rider of KVAS, was severely reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a).
 
IBEGOOD – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after resuming from an extended spell and was cleared to start. Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted out. Laid in momentarily near the 200m.
 
BETTER SWEET - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after resuming from an extended spell and was cleared to start. Blundered shortly after the start. Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted out.
 
KVAS – Began awkwardly and bounded on jumping away. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor lacerations to its off hindleg.
 
STAFFO – Slow to begin. Near the 600m, was inconvenienced and lost ground after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of BOLD LOUIE, which bucked. Approaching the 100m, was obliged to steady when I'LLTELLYOUI'MIN was carried out by BRAVE EMMA. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.


RACE 2: SCHWEPPES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP        1100 M

I'M NELSON – Laid in momentarily approaching the 400m. Near the 250m, shifted out abruptly.
 
THE WHEELBARROW – Slow to begin.
 
PROPAGANDA – Approaching the 400m, momentarily raced in restricted room to the inside of I'M NELSON.
 
RACE 3: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN HANDICAP         1350 M

PASS THE PEAK – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight behind the tiring FERGUS EN MARCHE. Jockey A. Thompson was reminded of his obligation to desist from using the whip when out of contention.
 
TULONG – Approaching the 600m, shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
 
MELATEN – Slow to begin and was bumped shortly after the start. Leaving the 1000m, steadied from heels when the pace of the race slackened and shifted out. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
BAD BOY BOONE – Raced wide with cover throughout. Leaving the 1000m, steadied from heels when the pace of the race slackened and shifted out.
 
DASHING MARS – Began awkwardly.
 
JAMCART (NZ) – Shortly after the start bumped with MELATEN.
 
MADAME CODY – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the finishing line, shifted in.
 
PEAK MISS – Approaching the finishing line, raced in restricted room between TULONG and MADAME CODY, which shifted in. Jockey S. Cormack the rider of MADAME CODY was strongly advised to stop and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.
 
SHE'S A FIZZ – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
UP OVER'N GONE – Raced wide with cover throughout. Jockey G. Cartwright was reminded of her obligation to desist from using the whip when out of contention.
 
VOLCANIC PARK – Declared a late scratching at 10:16am on veterinary advice. Trainer C. Johnstone was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to racing again.
 
ICEY – Near the 1000m, steadied from the heels of PEAK MISS, which shifted in. Raced keenly in the middle stages. When tiring rounding the home turn, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of MELATEN which shifted out. Jockey J. Lloyd the rider of MELATEN was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding. Jockey L. Tilley was reminded of his obligation to desist from using the whip when out of contention.
 
FERGUS EN MARCHE – After being caught wide allowed his mount to stride forward and take up a position in the lead nearing the 800m. Jockey J. Taylor was reminded of his obligation to desist from using the whip when out of contention. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 

RACE 4: IAN LEAVERS MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP         2150 M

LOYALTY COUNTS – Commenced to weaken from the 400m. Jockey K. Zechner reported at scale that his mount became awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame on its near foreleg. Trainer P. Duncan was advised that LOYALTY COUNTS would require a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.
 
TEWKESBURY – Raced wide until the 1200m.
 
ABOVEFORTY – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
GOOD PHILLY – When asked to comment on the performance of GOOD PHILLY, Apprentice C. Sutherland reported that in his opinion the mare may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer P. Heading further stated that it was his intention to add a tongue tie to the mare’s approved gear prior to further assessing if he would continue on with its current preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
TECHNA – Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the home turn. Raced in restricted room approaching the finishing line.
 
WILL IT SNOW (NZ) – Inclined to lay in over the final 100m and brushed with LOVEY DOVEY on a number of occasions.
 
LOVEY DOVEY – Raced in restricted room over the final 100m and brushed with WILL IT SNOW (NZ)which was inclined to lay in,on a number of occasions.
 
JIMMY NAILS – Slow to begin and then was hampered shortly after the start. Over-raced in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward approaching the 1000m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame on its near foreleg. Trainer P. Shailer was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to JIMMY NAILS racing again.
 

RACE 5: GORDON'S GIN CLASS 4 HANDICAP         1666 M

MERCHANT FLYER – Shortly after the start became awkwardly placed between runners and had to be restrained. Blundered at the crossing. Jockey D. Smith reported at scale that despite being first up, MERCHANT FLYER did not let down as expected and he could offer no explanation for the geldings disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MAURICE’S MEDAD – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
SIR GOLDALOT – Apprentice L. Martyn reported at scale that her mount over-raced for the majority of the event. Trainer M. Currie advised that he may consider the addition of a tongue tie at the gelding’s next start.
 
FLYING ROTHE – Jockey O. Kendal was reminded of her obligation to desist from using the whip when out of contention.


RACE 6: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP         1200 M

FIGHTING IDOL – Approaching the 200m, put in several awkward strides. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
CARDIOLOGIST – Raced wide.
 
ALL I WANT IS YOU – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
NIGHTCAPPED – Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the home turn.
 
ALFA LILY – Inclined to lay out over the concluding stages when placed under pressure.
RACE 7: SEVEN BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP         1350 M

SPANISH FOX – Raced wide.
 
INFLUENTIAL – Over-raced in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward from the 700m and raced wide from that point.
 
DIANA'S AFFAIR – Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
FAKE MAGIC – Rounding the home turn, became awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening BEEN A SECRET and was inconvenienced and lost ground.
 
ASPEN COLORADO (GER) – Slow to begin. Commenced to weaken approaching the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BEEN A SECRET – Commenced to weaken from the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Lost its off fore plate.
 

RACE 8: TEMPUS TWO CLASS 2 PLATE      1100 M

RUNAWAY TYCOON – Slow to begin. Lost its near fore plate.
 
SNITZOND – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
SAVAGERY VIBE – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
CINDERSEA - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after resuming from an extended spell and was cleared to start. Bumped on jumping away.
