RACE 7: VINCE INSURANCE CLASS 1 PLATE 1200 M

The start of this race was delayed by approximately three minutes when ADRANOS became fractious and reared in the barriers, subsequently undergoing a pre-race veterinary examination.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by B. Lerena, rider of 2nd place-getter VENOM RUSH, against the 1st place-getter BRAVEHEART, ridden by A. Jones, alleging interference over the final 100m. On the evidence, Stewards found that whilst BRAVEHEART shifted out towards VENOM RUSH near the 100m, that horse shifted out and away from BRAVEHEART and then approaching the end of the race, BRAVEHEART again shifted out slightly, obliging VENOM RUSH to also shift out slightly. They were of the view despite any interference caused to VENOM RUSH, that gelding would not have finished ahead of BRAVEHEART at the end of the race. Therefore, the objection was dismissed and correct weight was given on the official numbers.

ADRANOS – Reared in the barriers. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination. Rider R. Maloney was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out fully to the end of the race, where possible.
