SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Eagle Farm – Saturday 25 April 2026
Race 4: Trainer R. Lipp advised that SIR WINNIE would now be spelled.

Race 5: Trainer R. Lipp reported he was satisfied with the way ESPERANZA had pulled up and intends to continue with the filly’s preparation.

Race 7: Trainer J. Mason subsequently reported that DESANTO had pulled up shin sore and would now be sent for a spell.

GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweight:
Race 7: 9 LYNEHAM – M. Harley +1kg (56kg)

The track was downgraded to a Soft 7 at 12:05pm.

STRANGLEHOLD (Race 7) was declared a late scratching at 1:54pm at the request of the B. Laming stable due to the track downgrade. Trainer B. Laming was advised that STRANGLEHOLD would now incur a track rating bar and would not be permitted to race on surfaces rated a Soft 7 or worse.

RACE 1: THE GREAT NORTHERN QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200M

The start of this race was delayed by approximately three (3) minutes due to LANGAN becoming cast in the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching by Stewards on veterinary advice at 1:00pm.

On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on LANGAN to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st - STAR OF THE BAR – 4c win, 10c place.
2nd - HELL OR HEAVEN – 4c place.
3rd - GIRMAY – 4c place.

Co-Trainer Corey Munce reported it is the stables intention to send LANGAN for a spell. Co-Trainer Corey Munce was advised LANGAN would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to resuming racing.

GIRMAY – Removed from the barriers to undergo a pre-race veterinary examination when another runner became cast in the gates. Began awkwardly. Near the 850m, shifted in and made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.

HELL OR HEAVEN – Bumped with SPIRIT FALLS at the start. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, Jockey B. Thompson stated the only instruction issued by Trainer K. Schweida was to allow the gelding to settle where comfortable. He further added, approaching the 600m when trailing RAISING SUSPICION, that runner shifted out slightly before being corrected back inwards. Jockey B. Thompson elected not to shift wider on the gelding which was only traveling fairly and elected to look for runs nearer the inside approaching the home turn rather than come wide. Stewards noted Jockey B. Thompson comments.

RAISING SUSPICION - Approaching the 600m, momentarily shifted wider before being corrected by its rider.

SPIRIT FALLS – Began awkwardly and bumped with HELL OR HEAVEN.

REGAL ASCOT – Removed from the barriers to undergo a pre-race veterinary examination when another runner became cast in the gates. Over raced in the early stages.

STAR OF THE BAR – Laid out rounding the home turn and again when placed under pressure over the final 100m.

RACE 2: ABSOLUT & SPRITE RTDS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M

ZOUSLAYER – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 1000m when over racing, improved to the inside of AKKU and was steadied.

DISPARATE – Hampered on jumping. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice J McMurray stated DISPARATE travelled well throughout the event, however when placed under pressure approaching the home turn, the gelding proved disappointing and in his opinion, it may not have appreciated today’s track conditions.

TESSTIFY TRIO – Co-Trainer Corey Munce was reprimanded pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.

FORTYSECONDSTREET – After the running of this race it was noted the mare had lost its near fore plate.

RACE 3: JAMES ULTRA DRY & LIME QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200M

FLASHMASTER – Near the 800m, obliged to steady from heels when the speed of the race slackened.

SPEEDY CROWN (NZ) – Near the 800m, obliged to steady from heels when the speed of the race slackened. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.

ENTERPRISE GISELLE – Slow to begin. When racing wide, was inclined to over race in the early stages.

SHEZA'S DESTINY – Near the 1000m, steadied from the heels of URBAN LAD (M. Harley) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey M. Harley was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Over raced and was inclined to lay out.

ZARLA – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey C. Graham stated the filly may not have appreciated today’s track conditions and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

URBAN LAD – Shifted in near the 1000m.

RACE 4: BUNDABERG DROP BEAR CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1200M

EXPRESS PAYMENT – Raced wide for the majority. In the early part of the home straight, obliged to alter course after improving onto the heels of the weakening JUNGLE LAW.

LOST HIS BEANS – Slow to begin.

SHOT OF WHISKEY (NZ) – Bumped at the start with JUNGLE LAW. Raced wide in the early stages. After the running of the race, it was noted the gelding had lost its left fore plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor lacerations to both hind legs.

CONCESSION – Near the 750m, attempted to shift wider to improve around the heels of SHOT OF WHISKEY (NZ) and in doing so, bumped with JUNGLE LAW on a number of occasions prior to the 600m.

FRAGILE LOVE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

JUNGLE LAW – Bumped at the start with SHOT OF WHISKEY (NZ). Near the 600m, bumped and inconvenienced for a short distance when CONCESSION shifted out. Rounding the home turn whilst weakening, was tightened for room between CLICK CLICK BOOM and CONCESSION which shifted out to obtain clear running.

RACE 5: VOODOO RANGER BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1710M

GREAT ASPIRATIONS (NZ) – Raced wide until the 900m.

BOOM SHOT – Jockey R. Maloney reported his mount raced dour and did not let down as expected.

KAIROS LOUIE (NZ) – Apprentice C. Baker rider of GREAT ASPIRATIONS (NZ) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 900m, she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in, resulting in KAIROS LOUIE (NZ) (B. Wheeler) having to check to avoid its heels and lose its rightful running. A. Jones rider of WORTHY ENUFF who was trailing behind KAIROS LOUIE (NZ), was obliged to steady her mount after becoming awkward on the heels of KAIROS LOUIE (NZ) (B. Wheeler). Apprentice C. Baker’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of six (6) days, commencing midnight Wednesday 6 May 2026, concluding midnight Tuesday 12 May 2026. In assessing penalty, account was taken of her guilty plea, record, status as an Apprentice and the QRIC Careless Riding Guidelines.

WORTHY ENUFF – Shifted in on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages.

HE'SGOTTHESAY – Tightened for room at the start. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.

CORDINA – Raced wide for the majority.

RACE 6: THE SUNTORY FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1350M

POCKETMONEY – Heavily bumped with EASY LOVE at the start.

EASY LOVE – Began awkwardly, heavily bumped with POCKETMONEY and lost ground.

CAPITAL DIVA – Commenced to weaken over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have an upper respiratory noise. Trainer G. Doughty was advised CAPITAL DIVA would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of an endoscopic scope. Trainer G. Doughty advised the mare may have got its tongue over the bit and it is now his intention to send the mare for a spell.

DIVINE SOURCE – Near the 800m, obliged to steady when being crossed by CAPITAL DIVA (B. Lerena). Jockey B. Lerena was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Harley stated when placed under pressure it failed to respond and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the thumps.

RACE 7: VODKA CRUISER COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1350M

HEMAN – Slow to begin.

BLAZING HARRY – Trainer B. Healey was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.

RHUVAAL – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.

SAN GABRIEL (NZ) – Shifted out at the start. Rounding the home turn, was hampered when RHUVAAL shifted out to improve. Jockey B. Thompson was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

CARNEGIE HILL – Near the 200m, was bumped and became unbalanced when LYNEHAM (M. Harley) shifted out under riding. Jockey M. Harley was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.

As Apprentice J. McMurray was stood down by Stewards, he was replaced by Apprentice C. Baker as the rider of CARNEGIE HILL in Race 7.

Stewards adjourned an inquiry with Jockeys B. Lerena and Apprentice J. McMurray regarding the authenticity of a race vest to a date and time to be fixed.

Apprentice J. McMurray pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct pursuant to AR 115(1)(a) in that prior to the running of Race 7 in the scales area, Apprentice J. McMurray when directed to reweigh by Clerk of Scales Mr. Fletcher he threw his saddle in his direction of Mr. Fletcher and used profanities when speaking to Mr Fletcher.

Apprentice J. McMurray license to ride in races was suspended for a period of fourteen (14) days however, acting under the provisions of AR283(5), Stewards wholly suspended seven (7) days for a period of two years should Apprentice J. McMurray does not reoffend under this rule. Commencing midnight Saturday 2 May 2026 concluding midnight Saturday 9 May 2026.

Apprentice J. McMurray pled guilty pursuant to AR 232(b) in that in the scales area prior to the running of Race 7, failed to comply with a direction of Clerk of Scales S. Fletcher and Steward J. Williamson when directed to weigh with race colours. Apprentice J. McMurray was fined $800 of which Stewards acting under the provisions of AR283(5) wholly suspended $400 for a period of 2 (two) years should Apprentice J. McMurray does not reoffend under this rule.
