SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Ipswich 29/04/26
Jockey B. Lerena was found to be in possession of an unapproved safety vest. Jockey B. Lerena pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 123(2) and was fined $500. In assessing penalty, Stewards considered Jockey B. Lerena’s clear record under the rule and relevant penalty precedents.
GENERAL
As Apprentice J. Busuttin was unable to make the allocated weight in Race 1, she was replaced on PROMISES MADE by Apprentice M. Apel. Apprentice J. Busuttin pleaded guilty and was fined $200 pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
As Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester was unable to make the allocated weight in Race 6, he was replaced on I’M NELSON by Jockey D. Boche. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester pleaded guilty and was fined $100 pursuant to AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
Jockey D. Boche was reprimanded pursuant to AR 128(2) for leaving the course without permission.
Prior to the running of Race 1, Stewards inspected the track and upgraded it to a Soft 5 at 10:42am.
RACE 1:TAB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1950 M
SECRET FENKEL – Raced keenly in the early stages.
TORMANZOR (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey M. Hellyer reported at scale that TORMANZOR (NZ) was inclined to lay in from the 600m.
OUR BRAVE LINI – Rounding the home turn, improved onto heels and was inconvenienced before shifting out to obtain clear running.
PROMISES MADE (NZ) – Raced three wide early.
VERRY STELLA (NZ) – Reared as the start was effected and as a result VERRY STELLA (NZ) made heavy contact with the overhead barrier partition and contacted Jockey J. Lloyd in the head before dislodging him. A post-race veterinary examination revealed blood in both nostrils, which was attributed to the filly making heavy contact with its head to the partition. Trainer’s representative B. Killion was advised that a veterinary certificate and an official trial or jump out would be required prior to racing again. Jockey J. Lloyd was examined by QAS officers and cleared of concussion, however stood down from his remaining riding engagements. Jockey J. Lloyd was advised that a medical certificate along with a further concussion test would be required prior to riding again no earlier than the Monday 11th May 2026.
LUMINIZED (NZ) – Jockey D. Peisley dropped his whip near the 200m.
RACE 2:GREAT NORTHERN QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M
ALTO LUNA – Near the 1250m, steadied from heels. Approaching the 400m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening MISHANI ENTICE and shifted out. Leaving the 300m, bumped with ZOU ZOU KAPADOKIA.
CINCINNATI COBRA – Slow to begin. Shortly after the start bumped with ZOU ZOU KAPADOKIAwhen racing in restricted room. Approaching the home turn, bumped and became awkwardly placed between ALTO LUNA and ZOU ZOU KAPADOKIA, which shifted in slightly.Jockey A. Butler the rider of ALTO LUNA was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding
RAISING SUSPICION – Blundered on jumping away. Raced wide.
STEVENTOWN – Laid out in the early part of the home straight.
ZOU ZOU KAPADOKIA – Shortly after the start, bumped with CINCINNATI COBRA. Leaving the 700m, improved onto heels and shifted wider. Rounding the home turn, hung in despite the efforts of its rider. Leaving the 300m, bumped with ALTO LUNA.
HANG UP – Slow to begin.
SAXON SPIRIT - Raced wide.
RACE 3:POCO VINO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350 M
CAUSE TO BE XCITED – Slow to begin. Raced wide.
COCCINELLA – Held up in the home straight and was unable to be fully tested to the finishing line.
CAPTIVATE LEGEND – Shortly after the winning post, raced in restricted room to the inside of I SAY I SAY, which was carried in by POWER AND WAR and as a result, CAPTIVATE LEGEND contacted the running rail and had to be checked to avoid heels. Jockey B. Ainsworth the rider of POWER AND WAR pleaded guilty when charged pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding, the particulars being that approaching the finishing line, she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in, resulting in I SAY I SAY being carried into the rightful running of CAPTIVATE LEGEND, resulting in that runner being placed in restricted room on the rail and having to check. Jockey B. Ainsworth’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days, commencing midnight 9th May and concluding midnight 20th May 2026 to be served concurrently with the suspension incurred near the 200m. Jockey B. Ainsworth was advised of her right of appeal.
I SAY I SAY –Shortly after the winning post, was carried in by POWER AND WAR which shifted in and as a result, I SAY I SAY became awkwardly placed at heels and had to be steadied. Jockey J. Bayliss reported at scale that I SAY I SAY raced greenly throughout.
SHERIFF'S STAR – Raced keenly in the early stages whilst being restrained to obtain a position with cover. Held up in the home straight and was unable to be fully tested to the finishing line.
ENTERPRISE GISELLE – Approaching the 200m, had to be checked and lost its rightful running when POWER AND WAR shifted in. Jockey B. Ainsworth the rider of POWER AND WAR pleaded guilty when charged pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding, the particulars being that near the 200m, she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting into the running line of ENTERPRISE GISELLE, obliging Jockey B. Lerena to check his mount. Jockey B. Ainsworth’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days, commencing midnight 9th May and concluding midnight 20th May 2026 to be served concurrently with the suspension incurred approaching the winning post. Jockey B. Ainsworth was advised of her right of appeal.
FRENCH RIVIERA – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running over the final 150m.
KING CHANCE – Near the 900m, over-raced for a short distance whilst racing in restricted room.
BASSETT'S CHOICE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide. Leaving the 200m, bumped with ENTERPRISE GISELLE and became unbalanced
AKKU – Near the 150m, raced in restricted room for a short distance.
DARE TO LOVE – Held up until approaching the 100m.
RACE 4:AVS SECURITY RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP 1200 M
WAYBURN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages.
YES I'M UGLY – Bumped near the 100m.
LUCKY ARTIE – Near the 1100m, raced in restricted room to the inside of YOUCOMPLETEMEwhich shifted in, and as a result LUCKY ARTIE shifted in and away from YOUCOMPLETEME, bumping with ELUSIVE DOMINA and becoming unbalanced. Over-raced approaching the 900m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
YOUCOMPLETEME – Shifted in near the 1100m.
BOOMSHANKA – Near the 900m, raced in restricted room.
IN GREAT SPIRIT – Near the 800m, raced in restricted room to the inside of YOUCOMPLETEME which shifted in. Near the 200m, was disappointed for a run to the inside of YOUCOMPLETEME and was obliged to shift out. Bumped near the 100m.
ELUSIVE DOMINA – Near the 1100m, raced in restricted room and was buffeted between runners when LUCKY ARTIE shifted in and away from YOUCOMPLETEME. Near the 900m, raced in restricted room. Near the 200m, was obliged to steady from the heels of IN GREAT SPIRIT which shifted out and was then held up for the remainder of the event.
FINAL VOYAGE – Near the 1100m, raced in restricted room and was bumped. Near the 900m, raced in restricted room.
RACE 5:SCHWEPPES RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP 1200 M
HARD AS BROK – Reared as the start was effected. Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted out.
MARATHIA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
HELIKEDEMPRETTY – Weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery.
MISS FLEETWOOD – Began awkwardly, shifted in, bumped with PRIVATE SHOWTIME and lost ground. Carried wider rounding the home turn.
PRIVATE SHOWTIME – Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide. Carried wider rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Following the running of this race, Stewards upgraded the track to a Good 4 at 2:06pm.
RACE 6:TRIDAN ELECTRICAL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1350 M
TRIPLE MALT – Raced wide.
I'M NELSON – Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
PLAYMAN – Slow to begin.
LORD OF FLAMES – Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide.
MISTER MIGHTY – Slow to begin. Near the 1000m resented racing in restricted room to the inside of CANSORT and was steadied. Jockey G. Cartwright suggested to connections to remove the blinkers. Near the 150m, had to steady from the heels of PLAYMAN which shifted in and was held up for the remainder of the event.
ENCRYPTED FEELING – Jockey M. Hellyer reported at scale that ENCRYPTED FEELING over-raced.
RACE 7:WALKERS TURF SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 2150 M
AUTUMN HEIR – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
PAPAL MISS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
PROCLAIMER – Very slow to begin.
RACE 8:NIGHTINGALE MAINTENANCE CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1666 M
PISTON REBEL – Slow to begin.
MR BUBBALUSKI – Began awkwardly.
KOZAK PRINCE – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
NINJITZOU– Near the 1400m, was obliged to steady from the heels of GOLDEN MIKKI which shifted in. Jockey D. Boche the rider of GOLDEN MIKKI was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
STEEL IMPACT – Near the 1500m, momentarily steadied from the heels of WEXFORD MISS (IRE) when that runner crossed. Jockey L. Martyn the rider of WEXFORD MISS (IRE) was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Held up approaching the home turn.
WEXFORD MISS (IRE) – Held up approaching the home turn. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and until approaching the 100m. Leaving the 150m, became awkwardly placed at the heels of NOIRE EMPEROR which shifted in.
RACE 9:GORDON'S GIN CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M
BOW TIE AFFAIR – Slow to begin
PUFF 'N' HARRY - Near the 1000m, steadied from heels and commenced to over-race for a short distance.
SIR SNACKALOT -Weakened approaching the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery.
VENOM RUSH – Near the 1000m, steadied from the heels of SINATRA which shifted in.
ESTEE EMM – Apprentice L. Martyn reported that ESTEE EM proved disappointing and in her opinion may be better suited to tracks with more give in them.
ZOUSLAYER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having started at Ipswich on Monday 04/05/26 and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Rounding the home turn, improved onto the heels of the weakening SIR SNACKALOT and was obliged to shift out to secure clear running.
