SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Sunshine Coast 21/6/26 Race 4:
LONESOME SOUL – Trainer Greg Wright reported subsequent to this event, the filly was found to have sustained an injury to the off fore tendon and would require a lengthy spell. Mr Wright was advised a veterinary certificate of soundness for LONESOME SOUL would be required and the filly to Officially trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.
GENERAL
Stewards approved the following overweight allowance at today’s meeting:
Race 5 – Damien Boche +1kg (55kg)
RACE 1: TAB QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350M
SNIPER BOOM – Had the tongue tie refitted on arrival at the barriers.
MEAN KING – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider M. Harley was fined $500 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, 10 in totality.
STEADFAST SOLDIER – Began awkwardly. Near the 1200m, steadied from the heels of MEAN KING (M. Harley), which shifted in when not clear. Rider M. Harley was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
HOT SUN – Slow into stride. Near the 1000m, improved onto the heels of MADAME DOUBTFIRE and shifted out. Awkwardly placed on that runner’s heels for number of strides after. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
NIFTY'S TREASURE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced at Toowoomba 20 June 2026.
MADAME DOUBTFIRE – Slow into stride. Near the 1000m, put in an awkward stride and lost ground when racing in restricted room to the inside of ELEVATING (R. Maloney), which shifted in marginally. Rider R. Maloney was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
READY TO BOIL – Slow to begin.
RACE 2: RAY WHITE IPSWICH MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200M
The start of this race was delayed approximately 2 minutes owing to THRASH A BULLY being late to arrive at the barriers.
LAURIE'S QUILL – Began awkwardly.
BOWLING HARRY – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
KUIA MA – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped SUMMER READY. Near the 250m, bumped with CITY BOUND on two occasions and became momentarily unbalanced.
ALMOND GOLD – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 800m, improved onto heels and steadied.
HELL'S ACE – Slow to leave the gates and muster early speed (3L). Rider H. Shaw reported his mount, which was having its first start, was slow to begin and trailed the field throughout. Trainer V. Heading was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for being slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a heart murmur. Trainer V. Heading was advised the filly will require a veterinary clearance inclusive with an echocardiogram prior to next racing or trialling.
BE AN ANGEL – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 800m, improved onto heels and steadied. Laid out from the 600m until the entrance to the home straight.
CITY BOUND – When improving into a run near the 250m between KUIA MA and SUMMER READY, was initially brushed by KUIA MA before being tightened and hampered when SUMMER READY(F. Larson) shifted out. The tightening to CITY BOUND was accentuated due to contact being made on the hindquarters of SUMMER READY. Rider F. Larson was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
SUMMER READY – Bumped on jumping.
RACE 3: FERTPRO BM58 HANDICAP 2150M
TUKI TWELVE – Began awkwardly.
GRATIFICATION (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
KERKORIAN – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. Trainer J. Bayliss was advised the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to next racing. Held up from the 600m until leaving the 300m.
BIG TECH – Raced wide without cover throughout.
GOOD PHILLY – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. Trainer V. Heading was advised a warning would be placed on the mare. Eased down from the 200m. Rider D. Boche reported the mare was making an abnormal respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer V. Heading was advised the mare would be required to Officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
OUR BRAVE LINI – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
GIDDY GAN'S JOY – Tightened for room shortly after the start when TUKI TWELVE shifted out. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
PAPAL MISS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced at the Sunshine Coast 21 June 2026.
RACE 4: GREAT NORTHERN BM65 HANDICAP 1350M
NAILS AND PRIDE – Hung in and away from LUMENS LENNY near the 1000m. Approaching the 400m, bumped and became unbalanced when GAMBINO (C. Graham) shifted out to improve. Rider C. Graham was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Apprentice M. Apel reported her mount hung in throughout. Trainer M. Wilson was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding.
GAMBINO – For a short distance near the 1000m, bumped when racing tight to the inside of READY AZZ EVA, which in turn was receiving pressure from NAILS AND PRIDE, which was hanging in and away from LUMENS LENNY, which was laying in. In the incident, READY AZZ EVA was buffeted and became unbalanced. In all the circumstances, no action was taken against any one rider, however; a warning was placed against NAILS AND PRIDE.
LUMENS LENNY – Laid in near the 1000m.
READY AZZ EVA – Near the 1000m, buffeted and became unbalanced. Raced tight over the concluding stages.
MAPLE DOOR – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Held up near the 150m on the heels of LUMENS LENNY for a number of strides and was unable to be fully tested to the finish line when racing close to the heels of GAMBINO over the concluding stages.
VIXENETTE – Trainer M. Dunn was fined $100 pursuant to AR106(1) for presenting the mare without blinkers. Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 150m.
BOLSHEVIC ROAD – Raced tight over the concluding stages.
RACE 5: AVS SECURITY 0 - 62 HANDICAP 1100M
The start of this race was delayed approximately 4 minutes initially when A TOUCH FROM FAYT bucked on route to the barriers, dislodged apprentice C. Sutherland and galloped riderless for a significant distance before being caught. Subsequently, the mare was a late withdrawal at 3:49pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on A TOUCH FROM FAYT be refunded in full, with the following deductions to apply:
1st EVERYBODY RISE – 6c win, 6c place
2nd ODE TO BEAUTY – 9c place
3rd STEFFI ELECTRICA – 7c place
Trainer L. White was advised the mare will be required to Officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
The start was further delayed when MINOR KEY proved difficult proceeding to the start. Trainer J. Edwards was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its pre-race manners.
ADRANOS – Rider R. Maloney was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using the whip on consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
BOOYA BOY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
MINOR KEY – Began awkwardly.
ODE TO BEAUTY – Began awkwardly. Hung out from the 500m until the entrance to the home straight. Rider E. Lang advised it wasn’t her intention to be as far forward, but after beginning well, she elected to make use of the good jump.
STEFFI ELECTRICA – Began awkwardly.
SURE START – Fractious in the barrier prior to the start, began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid out from the 500m until the entrance to the home straight.
RACE 6: BARRIER REEF POOLS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200M
DYAMI – Raced keen early. Raced wide without cover throughout. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported the gelding became unbalanced for several strides passing the 400m when BOOMSHANKA commenced to shift out.
METAL MAN – Near the 150m, bumped on the hindquarters by BOOMSHANKA, which laid in under pressure. Rider R. Dolan reported the gelding put in an awkward stride leaving the 400m and felt uncomfortable in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ARDIE THREE (NZ) – Resaddled on arrival at the barriers. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
FUNKY ZEBRA – Began awkwardly.
VENOM RUSH – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure rounding the home turn.
ICED CHOCOLATE – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn.
BOOMSHANKA – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure near the 150m and bumped METAL MAN. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a laceration to the off foreleg, consistent with making contact to the hindquarters of METAL MAN near the 150m.
BRUTAL LASS – Slow to begin.
JUSTE UN CLOU – Laid out rounding the home turn. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
