SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT


GENERAL
As Rider T. Fenlon was injured and not riding at today’s meeting, she was replaced as per the Stewards summary. Rider T. Fenlon was advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to riding again.
 
After Stewards inspected the track, the rail placement was amended from +8M to +7M out Entire.

RACE 1 BARRIER REEF POOLS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M        

SAVASTEEL (NZ) – After being crossed by SILENT THINKER passing the 800m, steadied when close to the heels of that gelding.
 
CAUTIONARY TAIL – Began awkwardly.
 
MYSTIC ASCOT – Passing the 200m was inconvenienced and carried out by COMIN’HOMETOYOU (App C. Sutherland), which shifted out to improve when not clear. Apprentice C. Sutherland was severely reprimanded for this incident under the provisions of AR131(a).
 
PORCELAIN PRINCE - Raced three-wide without cover.
 
ZOUS A CHANCE – Began awkwardly. Rider C. Taylor reported the gelding raced greenly throughout.

RACE 2 IPSWICH PARTY HIRE FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE          1200 M        

EXTREME TASTE  – Eased down from the 200m. Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Apprentice B. Osmond reported he had to make use of the mare early to cross and obtain a leading position, which in his view, had an affect on the horse’s ability to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off-fore. Co-trainer E. Vinent was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.
 
HARTOVAWARRIOR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 11.43am. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.
 
ARCTIC BRIGHT (NZ) – Upon arrival at the barriers, had its crossover noseband refitted.
 
ASSUMED – Approaching the 850m got it’s head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of ARCTIC BRIGHT(NZ), which after being bumped by CITY BOUND(A. Butler) and racing tight to the inside of that mare, then shifted in. Rider A. Butler was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
LISTEN JANI – Raced wide without cover.


RACE 3 LIVING TURF QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP          800 M

LAURELS – When racing tight to the inside of SUN SISTER near the 550m, got it’s head up and eased. Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn and near the 300m, shifted out abruptly and heavily bumped SUN SISTER. Raced greenly when under pressure in the straight.
 
SUN SISTER – Near the 300m was heavily bumped. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
I'LLTELLYOUANYTIME – Proved difficult to load, delaying the start considerably. Trainer O. Cairns was notified the filly will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
LONESOME STAR – On leaving the gates, shifted out.
 
TOO DARN QUICK – On leaving the gates was tightened between FEEL BLESSED and WORTHY SHOT, which shifted in before being corrected.
 
FEEL BLESSED – Began awkwardly. Eased near the 600m to avoid the heels of TOO DARN QUICK, which was taken in by TASSY DEVIL(C. Graham), which after steadying, shifted in when not fully clear. Rider C. Graham was advised to exercise greater care.  



RACE 4 PRECINCT URBAN PLANNING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP   2000 M        

STRANGLEHOLD - Raced keen in the early stages.
 
YUKANUMA – Near the 250m was steadied when tightened between SOUTHBY and GOLDEN SMILE (D. Moor), which shifted out slightly. Rider D. Moor was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).
 
MALECON    – Raced keen in the middle stages. Raced tight for a short distant near the 500m between SOUTHBY and YUKANUMA(App J. Williams), which was shifting out before eventually steadying near the 400m. Apprentice J. Williams was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for this incident.
 
POWER PACK – Change of tactics – attempt to settle further forward. Settled just off the lead.
 
GOLDEN SMILE (GB) – The mare was presented to the mounting yard without a tongue tie. Trainer K. Lees was fined $100 under AR106(2). Held up for a run from approaching the 400m until near the 250m.


RACE 5 TAB CLASS 1 PLATE     1700 M        

KUNDABUNG (NZ) – Reared as the gates opened. In the early stages raced keenly. Rider R. Maloney could offer no excuse for the performance of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ORMOND ROAD – Trainer J. Bayliss was reprimanded under AR106(2) for presenting the gelding to the mounting yard without pre-race earmuffs.
 
ROARING SUCCESS – Checked from heels when the pace of the race eased near the 1400m.
 
SEA WARNING – Began awkwardly and settled towards the rear.
 
WEEKEND ARTIST – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages.
 
BARCELO – Change of tactics – attempt to settle further forward. Settled off the pace. Passing the 1400m, steadied when tightened by CAISHEN (C. Graham), which shifted in when not quite clear. Rider C. Graham was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
EXCEED THE SKY – Near the 1500m steadied to avoid the heels of KUNDABUNG (NZ).
 
PORT RIVER BILLIE – Began awkwardly.


RACE 6 SCHWEPPES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD AND FOUR-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP     1200 M        
 
Prior to correct weight, D. Moor rider of WARRIOR BAE, which was placed second in the race, viewed the Official footage of the home straight before deciding not to lodge an objection against the winner.

PALEFACE RINGO – Just prior to the start being effected, the gelding put its head down and consequently when the gates opened, lost considerable ground (5L).
 
SATISFIED MUGS – In the early and middle stages raced keenly. Steadied near the 250m when disappointed for a run, shifted in before then being held up until passing the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled bilaterally on the first occasion. Trainer D. McColm was advised SATISFIED MUGS would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for 3 months and must officially trial, jump out or gallop 1000m satisfactorily, in the presence of a Steward prior to racing again.
 
WARRIOR BAE – Approaching the 100m, momentarily inconvenienced when MOSHULU SPIRIT rolled out before being straightened.
 


RACE 7 FERTPRO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP      1200 M         

GRAND CRUSADER - As Apprentice J. Williams was unable to claim his full allowance, he was replaced by App C. Baker. Apprentice J. Williams was fined $200 pursuant to AR143(14)(b) for failing to claim his full allowance.
 
THUNDER AWARD – Slow to begin and lost ground. In the early stages raced keenly and near the 900m, got its head up when being checked from the heels of BRECHEN.
 
BRECHEN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not racing for an extended period. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding pulled up distressed, received treatment and will require a veterinary certificate along with an endoscope examination, prior to racing again.
 
NATIONAL INTEREST – Near the 50m steadied when racing in restricted room.

CAXTON LASS – Very fractious in the gates prior to the start and as the start was effected, put its head down and to the side; and did not leave the gates. After consideration of AR204(1) Stewards declared the horse a starter. Trainer R. Heathcote was notified the mare would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
CHANTILLY – Raced keenly in the middle stages and near the 800m was awkwardly placed on the heels of NO NAME FRANK. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FLAXLANDS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.


RACE 8 TEMPUS TWO CLASS 4 PLATE         1350 M        

ALDOLFITO - In the early stages raced keenly.
 
ROBRICK - Rider M. Rodd was severely reprimanded for using his whip in consecutive strides on the gelding near the 150m.
 
VENOM RUSH - In the early stages raced keenly.
 
CHICA MOJITO (NZ) – Held up for several strides approaching the 400m.
 
MASTER OF REWARDS – In the early stages raced three wide without cover. Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn.
