GENERAL
 
Trainer J. Hancock was fined $100 pursuant to LR36(6)(a) for failing to scratch dual acceptor KICKATINALONG (Race 6) by the prescribed time.
 
Rider D. Turner was fined $200 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride in Race 1 (PRESTIGE AUSTRIA) and found to be overweight.
 
RACE 1: TAB MAIDEN PLATE     800 M
 
THE FOUNDLING – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to resuming racing from an extended period.
 
CAUSE TO BE XCITED – Bumped at the start. Over the concluding stages, was awkwardly placed to the inside of the heels of PRESTIGE AUSTRIA and consequently was not ridden to the end of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils (first occasion). Trainer J. Zielke was advised pursuant to AR79(4), CAUSE TO BE XCITED shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse, recognised training track, private training establishment, or other place for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: (i) a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or (ii) an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward prior to resuming racing.
 
STANNER'S EMPIRE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to resuming racing from an extended period. Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped CAUSE TO BE XCITED. Made the home turn awkwardly. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Rider D. McGillivray reported his mount failed to respond to his riding in the home straight and proved disappointing.
 
KVAS – Slow to begin. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
PRESTIGE AUSTRIA – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.

RACE 2: RACING AND SPORTS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE  1350 M
 
CATFISH – Began awkwardly.
 
GRIEVE ROAD (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 1000m, bumped with MASTER IN MOTION. Raced wide without cover from the 800m. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester reported the gelding, which was having its second start, raced greenly and was not assisted by being placed three wide without cover for majority of the event.

GUNNA WANNABE – Near the 1000m, brushed the rail. Approaching the 600m, steadied to avoid the heels of JASMINTA, which was hanging out and losing ground
 
MY CHEVALIER – Trainer B. Laming was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the raceday declaration of App L. Martyn for the colt.  
 
MY HOUSE – Slow to begin.
 
JASMINTINA – In the early stages, raced ungenerously, shifted out and contacted NIFTY'S TREASURE, which made contact with NEW MEXICO (NZ), then continued to race ungenerously and hung out for a considerable distance. Apprentice O. Kendal reported her mount hung out for the majority of the race and proved difficult to control. Co-Trainers B. & M. Costello were advised JASMINTINA would be required to Officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Co-Trainers B & M. Costello advised JASMINTINA would now be spelled.

MASTER IN MOTION – Raced keen early and near the 1000m bumped with GRIEVE ROAD (NZ).
 
RACE 3: POCO VINO MAIDEN PLATE 1700 M
 
DIVIL A BIT – Rider A. Allen reported his mount hung out from the 500m.
 
PURE AUDACITY – Raced keenly with its head up early.
 
TRUST IN THE ROCK – Raced keen early. Near the 150m, was inconvenienced after laying in towards CANYA BERICH, which rolled out slightly. Near the 100m, carried out slightly by CANYA BERICH(M. Rodd), which shifted ground. Rider M. Rodd was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
CANYA BERICH – Raced wide early. Rider M. Rodd reported the mare did not feel comfortable in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore-leg. Trainer J. Coetzee was advised CANYA BERICH would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Rider M. Rodd was reprimanded pursuant to AR128(2) for failing to seek permission prior to leaving the course.  
 
CONTINENT – Trainer J. Holcombe was fined $100 pursuant to AR 106(2) for presenting the mare to the mounting enclosure without the approved visors. As no visors were available, Stewards permitted the mare to race in blinkers. Raced wide for the majority.
 
TUSCANADO – Rider C. Meehan reported his mount felt uncomfortable in its action throughout and elected to ease the mare down from the 300m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer V. Venkaya was advised TUSCANADO would be required to Officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. (poor performance).

OUR SASSY PRINCESS – Checked at the start when tightened between TRUST IN THE ROCK and TUSCANADO, both of which shifted ground.
 
RACE 4: FERTPRO CLASS 2 HANDICAP     1200 M
 
ESPRIT DU JOUR – Apprentice L. Martyn reported the mare raced flat and may have come to the end of its preparation.

IMMEDIATE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight, obliging Apprentice C. Baker to straighten her mount on several occasions.

STAR VENTURE – Raced wide without cover in the middle stages, before being allowed to stride and join the lead near the 600m.  

PACIFIC PIRATE –Slow to begin. Trainer J. Hancock advised PACIFIC PIRATE would now be sent for a spell.
 
Trainer T. Gollan represented by C. Cavanough was fined $400 pursuant AR 106(1) for negligently presenting LAND BANK and ESPRIT DU JOUR, both stable runners in this event, with their respective saddles on the wrong horse. When identified by Stewards and brought to the attention of the stable, the horses were resaddled correctly and again presented to race.
 
RACE 5: BARRIER REEF POOLS CLASS 4 HANDICAP         1100 M
 
NORTH OF ELI – Shortly after the start, steadied when tightened for room.
 
VORKUTA – When under pressure in the straight, laid in.

KICKATINALONG – Made the home turn awkwardly. Raced wide in the home straight.
 
RACE 6: GREAT NORTHERN FILLIES AND MARES RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP       1350 M
 
On the way to the gates near the 1000m, was bumped by LENNYSTAR, which was fractious and getting its head up. This resulted in both riders, App B. Osmond and N. Tomizawa being dislodged and SHEDRIVESABENTLEY galloping freely after being caught near the 1600m. SHEDRIVESABENTLEY was subsequently declared a late withdrawal at 3:33pm.
 
On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on SHEDRIVESABENTLEY to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st - LUKEY BLUE – 14c win, 15c place.
2nd - HIDDEN FUTURE – 9c place.
3rd - VOSTOKOVA– 15c place.
 
STROMBOLI DELIGHT – Rider L. Tilley reported his mount would be better suited to leading without being challenged.
 
MYSTICAL GEM – Change of tactics; go back and look for cover. In the early stages, raced very keenly when wide and consequently, was allowed to stride and join the lead near the 700m.
 
TANGO QUEEN (NZ) – On leaving the gates, was bumped by LUKEY BLUE. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
VOSTOKOVA – Held up for clear running from the 400m until the 200m.
 
HIDDEN FUTURE – Raced wide without cover from the 600m.
 
LUKEY BLUE – On leaving the gates, was bumped by TANGO QUEEN (NZ) and took a short distance to muster speed, settling further back than expected. When asked about the improved performance, Trainer J. Edwards was unable to offer any explanation for the performance at Dalby, where the filly was eased down from the 100m. He said given its performance where LUKEY BLUE was under pressure coming to the home turn, he did not believe the distance was an issue. He added, the filly was fine on returning after the race and since then, has not altered its training regime and was hopeful the filly would return to its previous good form.  
 
MISHANI UNDERCOVER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running from passing the 400m until near the 100m and went to the end of the race without being fully tested.
 
RACE 7: AVS SECURITY COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP         1350 M
 
CLUBHOUSE – Tightened at the start between runners.

EXPRESS STAR – Tightened at the start between runners. Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages.  

ATLANTIC COAST – Rider A. Thompson reported from an inside gate, the gelding began well and subsequently was able to take up a more forward position with little effort on his part.

EXPLOSIVE POWER (NZ) – When giving ground near the 200m, momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of SOMETHIN IN ORANGE (App C. Sutherland), which shifted out to improve. Apprentice C. Sutherland was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
LA PROFECIA – Apprentice L. Martyn reported her mount was inclined to hang out.
 
ZOUSLAYER – Began awkwardly with its head up and lost ground. In the middle stages, raced keenly. Rider C. Meehan was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for the use of his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m and was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out to the end of the race, where possible.
 
ROSA KISS – Began awkwardly.
 
SPIRIT OF SAINTLY– Raced keenly in the middle stages.
