Appr Jky L Sykes advised Stewards he would not be able to arrive to the course in time for Race 1 due to transport difficulties. Stewards accepted and noted his comments.

Race 1: BILL SULLIVAN & HARVEY BLACK MAIDEN PLATE (1000m)

POWIAS- After travelling well up until the 300m point began to weaken noticeably from that point. On returning to scale Appr Jky E Molloy reported her mounts action felt abnormal. A post-race veterinary examination was ordered by Stewards this examination revealed lameness in the right foreleg. Stewards acting under the provision of AR75(a) will notify Trainer Mr N Owen in coming days that an Ultrasound of the affected leg with an associated Report /Vet Certificate will be required prior to the horse racing again and further, it will be required to Trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to it returning to racing.

LETTERS OF ROMANCE- Raced wide for the majority of the event.

COSMIC PROPORTIONS-The filly was declared a late scratching at 1.15pm by Stewards acting on Veterinary advice due to a bleeding cut to the Microperiostene flap inside of the mouth. Stewards ordered that all investments made on the filly prior to 1.15pm be refunded in full with the following deductions to be applied- CROATION QUEEN- Win- 17c, Pl 15c, 2nd PL- 14c and 3rd PL- 14c.  No veterinary certificate would be required prior to the horse racing again.

Stewards further ordered that a post-race veterinary examination be undertaken, this examination failed to locate any abnormalities Due to the 20.86 length margin between the winner and the filly Stewards contacted Trainer Ms A Park regarding the seemingly disappointing performance today and under the provision of AR75 placed a Warning on the horse.

FOREMOST- After consulting with Trainer Mr N Beck, Appr C Lowe replaced Appr Jky L Sykes who was unavailable to ride in Race 1 due to transport difficulties. This examination revealed significant lameness and swelling to the right foreleg. Stewards will notify Trainer Mr W Baker in coming days that an Xray with Report of the affected leg and a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to the gelding returning to racing.

RUNAROUND SUE- Knuckled over as the start was affected. This resulted in Appr Jky Carter having to check her mount, losing momentum and ground at that point. In determining penalty Stewards noted that Appr Jky Metcalfe attempted to correct her mount at the earliest opportunity, the amount of the interference, the location and the excellent record of Ms Metcalfe in relation to this rule.

KNIGHT BATCHELOR- Slow to begin. Raced at the rear of the field for some distance before improving into the race from the 400m point. Ran on strongly over the concluding stages of the event.

TATTLE- Prior to the running of Race 5 Appr Jky T Orr advised Stewards that he was unable to make the allocated weight for the mare. Stewards acting under AR (190) (3) replaced Appr Jky Orr and issued him with a severe reprimand.
