Race 1: Tim Mason Benchmark 55 HHcap 1900m
 
ELUSIVE ELEMENT Slow to begin.
 
BLOOMERANG Forced wider by another runner near the 1300m and progressed forward to occupy a position outside the leader near the 900m.
 
NOVATIVE Held up between the 500m and 200m and disappointed for a run on a number of occasions.
 
PALMER Commenced to overrace approaching the 1300m and then had to be steadied away from the heels of CRAIGLEA CEON,, which shifted out.
 
CRAIGLEA CEON When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, jockey B. Grylls statedd that whilst the mare travelled well throughout, it may have found the 1900m beyond its capabilities. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
 
Race 2: Arthur Gray CG&E Maiden Plate 1060m
 
SOMETHINGREAL Refused to load and was declared a late scratching at 1.44 pm.. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable.
 
0 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets
2 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets for the place
3 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
6 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
Connections were advised that the gelding would be required to requalify in one official trial.
 
TIME FOR ACTION Bucked for a considerable distance after the start.. Trainer T. Hong was were advised that the gelding would now be required to requalify in one official trial.
 
BENNY COOL Began awkwardly. Jockey J. Hooper reported at scale his mount hung out approaching the 800m turn and was then inclined to lay in for the remainder of the event. He added he recommended to connections to experiment with a tongue control bit at its next race start.
 
SUIT UP DAN Jockey J. Oliver was reminded of his obligationss to ensure he rides his mounts, out to the finish of the race.
 
 
Race 3: Butler McDermott Lawyers CG&E Benchmark 58 HHcap
1200m
 
EARL OF FORDYCE Slow to begin. Had to be steadied away from heels when attempting to improve at the 700m.
 
CHAYSE NN MASON Jumped away awkwardly and was inclined to hang in the early stages of the event. Commenced to hang out approaching the 700m, and over the latter stages laid in when under pressure. Jockey C. Eaton lost her whip at approximately the 100m mark.
 
VALHALLA MIST Bumped by another runner as the start was effected.
 
KARAHARAGA Raced wide in the early stages.
 
MR BON VIVANT Had to be momentarilyy steadied passing the 400m when KARAHARAGAA shifted in slightly.. Apprentice H. English, rider of KARAHARAGA, was advised to show more care when shifting ground.
 
 
Race 4: Ian McCauley F&M Benchmark 58 HHcap 1200m
 
SANDY STRAITS Bled from both nostrils during the event.. Connections were advised that the mare would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months, and must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop.
 
ALL OUR WIVES Began awkwardly, losing some ground.
 
DREAM PIPER When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, jockey M. Gray stated that his mount never travelled well throughout the race and proved disappointing. A subsequent post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
 
Race 5: Kevin Purcell F&M Maiden Plate 1060m
 
SNAP AND GO Declared a late scratching at 1.25 pm on veterinary advice.
 
EVENING Became fractious in the parade area, dislodging its rider. Underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly soon after and raced ungenerously. Connections were advised that a warning would be placedd on its racing manners.
 
SKYLARRS STAR Was reluctant to proceed to the barriers and had its tongue-tie removed.. The tongue-tie was unable to be reaffixed and the horse was permitted to start.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its pre-race manners and delaying the start. Slow to begin.
 
KYLIEES KISSES Slow to begin.
 
WINDQUEST Slow to begin.
 
VINTAGE LACE Hung out approaching the 800m, inconveniencing LENNONNS PADDOCK, forcing that horse wider on the track.
 
LENNONNS PADDOCK Forced wider near the 800m, and then raced wide for the remainder of the event.
 
CHURCHILL DOWN Lost its off hind plate in running.
 
 
Race 6: Dave Cohen Class 1 HHcap 1500m
 
SIR EARLSTOUN Overraced in the middle stages.
Disappointed for a run to the inside of SHORT CHANGED leaving the 500m.
 
SHORT CHANGED Overraced approaching the 1200m, making the turn awkwardly.
 
 
Race 7: Lionel Richards Class 2 HHcap 1060m
 
ATOMIC MISSILE Jumped away awkwardly and was bumped by CAPTAINNS ANGEL. Raced wide in the early stages before positioning on the rail near the 600m.
 
LADY DUPORTH Clipped heels and blundered after the start.
 
FRENCH JET Jockey S. Apthorpe noted that it failed to muster early speed and travelled fairly approaching the home turn, however had a tendency to hang in in the straight, but was disappointed in its performance. A post race veterinary reveal the gelding was exhibiting an abnormal respiratory noise, and connections were advised that it would require a veterinary certificate, including the results of an endoscopic examination prior to competing in future.  
 
ATOMIC MISSILE - Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred near the 150m where it appeared FRENCH JET may have been inconvenienced and had to be steadied away from the heels of ATOMIC MISSILE.. After considering the evidence and viewing the film, stewards noted that whilst ATOMIC MISSILE eased away from the rail, it did so when sufficiently clear of FRENCH JET. Stewards noted that FRENCH JET improved rapidly to the heels of ATOMIC MISSILE and hung in noticeably which contributed to the interference. Stewards took no further action.
