GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following Jockey to ride overweight.
Race 4 – Matthew Powell (JUST SO FANCY) plus 1kg at 55kg.
 
Due to the cancellation of the Bathurst thoroughbred meeting, starting times for today’s meeting were amended as follows:
 
Race 1: 1:40pm
Race 2: 2:20pm
Race 3: 2:55pm
Race 4: 3:35pm
Race 5: 4:10pm
Race 6: 4:50pm
 
 
Race 1: THANKS BILLY "QUEENSLANDER" MOORE Maiden Handicap 1500 metres
 
MISS MOUNTBATTEN – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped POWER PUNCH.
 
SUPER SWEET – Slow to muster speed after the start.
 
ALALTUN – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
POWER PUNCH – Bumped shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Taken wider rounding the home turn when TREMENDOUS shifted out to improve. Raced three wide without cover throughout the event.
 
SUDDEN SUSPECT – Slow to begin.
 
TREMENDOUS – Near the 400m shifted in crowding MA DUSHKA which was hampered. J Cornish, rider of TREMENDOUS, was reprimanded for carelessness in this incident.
 
MA DUSHKA – When the pace steadied near the 1000m, improved onto heels, shifted in, and made heavy contact with the running rail and blundered. Hampered near the 400m when taken in by TREMENDOUS.
 
REDHEAD ROCKS – When asked to comment on the performance, rider K Zechner reported the horse did not handle today’s prevailing track conditions.
 
 
Race 2: SEARLE GARDEN PRODUCTS Class 2 Handicap 1500 metres
 
VITAE – When asked to comment on the performance rider B Loy could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a cut to the near hind leg which was treated by the on-course veterinary surgeon.
 
LUVYOUANYTIME – C Meehan, rider of LUVYOUANYTIME, was fined $200 under AR132(6)(b) forusing an action that raises the rider’s arm above shoulder height.
 
LEXINGTON LAD – After being loaded into the barriers became fractious and kicked out behind on a number of occasions.
 
DINNY'S A SUSPECT – Bumped at the start.
 
FLYING KASS – Reared at the start and lost ground. Made crossing at the 1200m awkwardly. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
OUR BOY TRAV – Jumped out at the start and bumped DINNY’S A SUSPECT. Rider N Thomas reported the horse was inclined to hang out for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 3: SOMERSET REGIONAL COUNCIL BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1500 metres
 
CAPODANNO – Bumped and taken out approaching the 1200m resulting rider M Powell becoming unbalanced.
 
HE'S VIRAL (NZ) – Bumped approaching the 1200m. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
DREAM CANDY – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the horse was readjusted. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MODERN FAMILY – Slow to begin.
 
SAY GOODBYE – Approaching the crossing at the 1200m, shifted out momentarily and bumped CAPODANNO, resulting in rider M Powell becoming unbalanced and CAPODANNO being taken out and bumping with HE’S VIRAL.
 
CONSULAR – Inclined to lay in at various stages of the event.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Heavy 8.
 
Race 4: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS Class 1 Handicap 800 metres
 
TAORMINA RHYTHM – Jumped out at the start and lost ground.
 
BONGANI – Hampered when taken wider rounding the home turn.
 
WILD CHILD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Improved onto heels approaching the 400m and obliged to shift wider on the track to obtain clear running. Rider A Thompson was harmlessly dislodged after WILD CHILD shied on pulling up.  
 
RAINING RICHES – Laid out rounding the home turn hampering BONGANI which was taken wider on the track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed RAINING RICHES to have bled from both nostrils for the first time and to also have sustained a laceration to the near hind leg. Trainer G Richardson was advised the horse would be stood down from racing under AR79(4) for 3 months and must gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to its next race or trial start.
 
 
Race 5: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL / TAB BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1200 metres
 
BOBBY AXELROD – Change of tactics, to be ridden forward with cover. Ridden accordingly. Weakened from the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SOME LIKE IT HOT – Jumped in at the start.Held up for clear running between the 600m and 200m. Bumped passing the 200m.
 
DREAM ENTITY – Bumped near the 700m.
 
FLICK – Laid out passing the 200m and bumped SOME LIKE IT HOT.
 
DEVILLAIN – Began awkwardly and jumped out the start.
 
SERTIN – Checked at the start between DEVILLIAN which jumped out and SOME LIKE IT HOT which jumped in. Near the 700m improved onto heels, shifted out marginally and bumped DREAM ENTITY.
 
 
Race 6: THANKS KELLY SCHWEIDA, SHANE SCRIVEN & LES ROSS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1200 metres
 
PRINCE OF DIAMONDS – Jumped in at the start. Made the 800m turn awkwardly and shifted out.
 
WHISTLIN' RULER – Bumped at the start when MISHANI PHAROAH jumped in. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
ABOVE THE LOT – Bumped by WHISTLIN ARROW.
 
PETRALIA – Bumped at the start when PRINCE OF DIAMONDS jumped in. Raced in restricted room and contacted the running rail near the 800m. Rider J Taylor reported the horse did not handle today’s prevailing track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
RURAL REBEL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
ENTERPRISE MAXIMUS - Taken wider near the 800m when PRINCE OF DIAMONDS laid out. Rider J Molloy reported the horse did not handle today’s prevailing track conditions.
 
MISHANI PHAROAH – Jumped in at the start and bumped WHISTLIN’ RULER.
 
WHISTLIN' ARROW – Laid out under pressure near the 100m and bumped ABOVE THE LOT.
 
QUARTER PAST – Rounding the home turn steadied from the heels of PRINCE OF DIAMONDS which shifted out to improve.
