GENERAL
As Apprentice J. Williams was not riding due to illness and Jockey J. Morris due to transport difficulties, Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Apprentice J. Williams was advised he would require medical clearance prior to resuming riding.
RACE 1: CALOUNDRA RSL / KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200M
INQUICKTIME – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
SAVE THE ROSES – Slow to begin. Near the 100m, steadied from the heels of PRONTO PERCY (A. Graham) when that runner shifted out. Apprentice A. Graham the rider of PRONTO PERCY was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
ANOTHER VEUVE – Near the 75m, steadied from the heels of WORTHY (T. Brooker) which shifted out under pressure. Whilst acknowledging there was a slight shift in by ANOTHER VEUVE, jockey T. Brooker was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding and was reminded of her obligation to stop riding and straighten her mounts. Jockey G. Cartwright reported her mount raced greenly throughout.
WORTHY – Jockey T. Brooker reported her mount was inclined to hang out throughout.
CASTIGLIONE – Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
PRONTO PERCY – Near the 100m, shifted out resulting in SAVE THE ROSES had to be steadied from heels. Apprentice A. Graham the rider of PRONTO PERCY was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
RACE 2: GAYTHORNE RSL / SEARLES GARDEN PRODUCTS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M
DENMAN AVENUE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination to inspect the horse’s mouth and tongue tie and was subsequently cleared to start. Raced keenly from near the 800m until near the 500m.
MR HANKY PANKY – Began awkwardly and shifted in taking ELEGANT STAR in which in turn, forced THE PUBLICAN in, resulting in PHYLISS having to be steadied.
RUBOS – Began awkwardly and shifted in hampering SECRET CAVIAR. Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn, taking SECRET CAVIAR wider on the track. Trainer T. Miller was advised that a warning would be placed on RUBOS racing manners. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice K. Johnson stated that after being slow to begin, the gelding never travelled comfortably as a result of the pace of the race. She further added, the horse would be better suited to a step up in distance.
THE PUBLICAN – Near the 900m, momentarily steadied when MR HANKY PANKY shifted in. Raced keenly in the middle stages. When the pace of the race steadied leaving the 700m, improved onto the heels of MR HANKY PANKY and was checked and lost ground.
I'MA CHARMER – Trainer M. Bronsan was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Raced wide throughout.
PHYLISS – Steadied shortly after the start. Over raced in the early and middle stages. When the pace of the race eased, improved onto the heels of THE PUBLICAN approaching the 600m and was checked and lost ground, SECRET CAVIAR which was following was then checked and lost ground. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until entering the home straight.
SECRET CAVIAR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to arriving late on course and was subsequently cleared to start. Slow to begin and then hampered. Near the 900m when racing in restricted room, shifted out on the turn and was checked from the heels of RUBOS. Approaching the 600m was checked from the heels of PHYLISS and lost ground.
MARGOT'S STAR – Began awkwardly. Near the 800m, raced ungenerously and shifted out. A short distance later, was momentarily steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of MR HANKY PANKY. Approaching the home turn, improved onto the heels of DENMAN AVENUE and had to be checked. Raced in restricted room for a short distance entering the home straight.
THUNDER SHANGHAI – Began awkwardly.
SHE'S SO SWANK – Jockey A. Allen reported the mare race greenly throughout the event. Race wide throughout.
RACE 3: JOHNNIE 'WHISKEY' WALKER APM MEMORIAL CUP RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1200 M
READY GREY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on his riding approaching and rounding the home turn, apprentice B. Wheeler stated that he had been following the favourite DOUBLESHARKATTACK approaching the home turn, and when HERECOMESANTORINI which was racing outside that runner, shifted ground approaching the home turn, he elected to take that run, however; a short distance later, DOUBLESHARKATTACK shifted out and as he was already committed to that run, he elected not to restrain his mount and shift back to the inside. Stewards accepted the explanation.
HERECOMESANTORINI – Began awkwardly. Laid out upon entering the home straight and bumped ALBION SQUARE (GB). A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery and the thumps and was subsequently treated by the on-course veterinarian.
KOGA NINJA – Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer S. Thomas was advised by KOGA NINJA must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to resuming racing.
ALBION SQUARE (GB) – Bumped upon entering the home straight.
IMPOUNDED – Raced wide throughout.
SILVER GLITTER – Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer K. O’Neill was advised SILVER GLITTER must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to resuming racing.
UCELLE – Raced wide for the majority.
DOUBLESHARKATTACK – Bumped with KEITANY at the start. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey K. Yoshida stated his mount travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, however; when placed under pressure from the 300m, his mount his did not make the home turn comfortably and failed to respond to his riding from that point and proved disappointing.
KEITANY – Connections advised a change of tactics, to be ridden more forward. Raced accordingly. Bumped at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 4: BRIBIE ISLAND RSL BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 2076 M
PAPAL WARS (NZ) – Shifted out rounding the home turn and bumped AU REVOIR.
LORD DANILO – Slow to begin. Near the 1800m raced keenly for a short distance. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice R. Thorburn stated the gelding travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure from the 600m, failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. He added that the gelding failed to handle the step up in distance, and in his opinion, would be better suited to a drop back in distance.
AU REVOIR – Connections advised a change of tactics, to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Approaching the home turn, bumped on the hindquarters by SHAPE OF WATER. Bumped on straightening by PAPAL WARS.
SHAPE OF WATER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after contacting the fence in the mounting enclosure and was subsequently cleared to start. Approaching the home turn, attempted to shift out to improve and bumped the hindquarters of AU REVOIR.
STAR CHANCE – Began awkwardly. Near 1450m when racing ungenerously was restrained and threw its head up on a number of occasions. Jockey M. Butler reported his mount raced keenly throughout.
WINSTON BLUE – Slow to begin.
RACE 5: LADBROKES VIETNAM VETERANS CUP RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1500 M
BEAT HOLLOW – Shifted out inside the 100m and brushed DOITLIKEMAXWELL.
SACRED TED (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to the gelding having raced at Ipswich on 20 August 2025 and was subsequently cleared to start. Near the 1400m, commenced to race ungenerously with its head in the air in the early and middle stages. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey M. Palmer stated it had not been his intention to settle as far forward as he had, however; after beginning well, the gelding over raced and did not settle and that this had an effect on the overall performance.
JIMMY NAILS – Near the 1200m, momentarily steadied from the heels of ATLANTIC ROYAL which shifted in. Jockey T. Brooker, the rider of ATLANTIC ROYAL was advised to exercise care. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and bumped TONARE near the 100m.
DOITLIKEMAXWELL – Trainer P. Webster was reprimanded pursuant to AR 106(2) for presenting DOITLIKEMAXWELL to the mounting yard with the incorrect gear. Began awkwardly and contacted the barrier partition. Brushed near the 100m.
WHAT A WEEKEND – When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice S. Bailey was unable to offer an explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J. Hancock was advised considering today’s performance, the gelding would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming racing. Trainer J. Hancock was reprimanded pursuant to AR 106(2) for presenting WHAT A WEEKEND to the mounting yard with the incorrect gear.
TONARE – Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
PAULI – Began awkwardly.
RACE 6: THANKS ROD SLATER AND THE KILCOY DIGGERS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1500 M
GOLD MERCHANT – Began awkwardly.
LADY FELINA – Co-Trainers A. & R. Archibald was reprimanded pursuant to LR 36(6)(a) for failing to scratch a dual acceptor by the prescribed time. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion commenced to over race until passing the 1200m.
BAUHAUS – Bumped at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 1000m, shifted wider and continued to race wide from that point onwards.
ORCA – Connections advised a change of tactics, to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. After beginning awkwardly, settled in a midfield position. Shifted out at the start and bumped with BAUHAUS. Momentarily held up for clear running near the 500m.
CRYPT DE PIN – Held up for clear running from the 350m until the 200m. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice B. Wheeler stated the mare never travelled comfortably throughout the race due to the quick tempo, adding that the horse was not suited to the tighter turning track and after being held up for clear running approaching the home turn, his mount ran on only fairly and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SUENITO – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A. Goindasamy stated he was instructed to ride forward as were similar instructions to last start however was unable to obtain the lead. Stewards intend on interviewing trainer V. Venkaya regarding these instructions.
VICTORY STATEMENT – Began awkwardly.
RACE 7: LADBROKES KILCOY CUP BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1500 M
SUKHBIR – Taken wider on the track for a short distance near the 1200m. Apprentice A. Graham dropped her whip approaching the home turn.
HOLLYWOOD EPIC – Began awkwardly. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, shifted out and had to be steadied from the heels of BLACK MINTO, continued to make the turn awkwardly and shifted out taking SUKHBIR wider on the track. Raced keenly from the 1000m until near the 800m. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice J. Newman stated in her opinion, the gelding failed to run out the step up in distance of today’s event.
BLACK MINTO – Raced keenly in the early stages.
NAVILLUS HELLFIRE – Slow to begin.
PROPONENT – Trainer A. Park was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Near the 1400m, steadied when tightened for room between MISHANI SUSPECT and BLACK MINTO (M. Palmer) which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey M. Palmer was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
SHANNON'S LEGACY – Due to a stable misunderstanding, apprentice B. Wheeler was unable to make the weight and was subsequently replaced by jockey A. Allen. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered and took no further action. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey A. Allen reported his mount was inclined to hang out and felt short in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a superficial laceration to the near hind coronary band.
EIGHT CYLINDERS (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
RACE 8: FREE ENTRY DAY SUNDAY 7 SEPTEMBER RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1200 M
SPIRIT OF STORM – Contacted at the start and became unbalanced.
GRANDEUR ROSE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
LITTLE SPARK – Began awkwardly and then bumped on several occasions.
EPIC FLASH – Began awkwardly and then bumped. Apprentice T. Wheeler reported he struck his left foot on the barriers on jumping away and was experiencing some bruising as a result.
ANCIENT MISSION – Shifted out at the start and bumped LITTLE SPARK.
HELL OF A PRINCE – Trainer R. Davidson was reprimanded pursuant to AR 106(2) for presenting to the mounting yard with the incorrect gear. Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
BOITUMELO – Shifted in at the start and bumped EPIC FLASH. Raced wide for the majority.
NICHOLAS ADAM – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer W. Kuskopf was advised based on the poor performance of NICHOLAS ADAM, the gelding would be suspended from TAB race meetings, until it establishes improved form to the Steward’s satisfaction.
RACE 9: LADBROKES KILCOY DIGGERS CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 M
Correct weight was delayed allowing G. Cartwright rider of second placegetter LITTLE VISTA to view the Stewards footage of the home straight. After doing so, she elected not to pursue the matter further and correct weight was declared.
LITTLE VISTA – Shifted out on jumping.
YOSEMITE FALLS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing keenly to the barriers and was subsequently cleared to start.
CASH LANDING – Tightened for room at the start between runners. Near the 900m, momentarily steadied when tightened for room to the inside of ARAMINTA which was racing tight and taken in when bumped by FOO FIGHTER (K. Lenton). Apprentice K. Lenton in the presence of Racing Queensland Training Officer M. Cahill, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
ARAMINTA – Tightened for room at the start between runners. Shifted out to improve near the 600m and forced FOO FIGHTER wider.
CONSTANT CAFÉ – Leaving the 900m, steadied away from the heels of LITTLE VISTA which momentarily shifted in. Brushed with STOP THE TAPE inside the 100m.
STOP THE TAPE – Slow to begin. Near the 900m bumped with CONSTANT CAFÉ and then contacted the rail and became unbalanced. Near the 700m was eased for a short distance when awkwardly placed near the heels of LITTLE VISTA. Near the 75m shifted out and bumped CONSTANT CAFÉ.
FOO FIGHTER – Tightened for room at the start between runners. Raced wide without cover throughout.
