GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweight requests:
Race 4: 8 GOLD MERCHANT – L. Dempsey + 1kg (56.5kg)
Race 4: 12 ANOTHER DAZZLER – D. Smith + 0.5kg (54.5kg)
As Apprentice O. Webb was indisposed and Jockey K. Matheson not riding due to injury, Stewards permitted the rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
RACE 1: KILCOY GLOBAL FOODS / HAPPY FATHERS DAY MAIDEN PLATE 1500 Metres
EMBEZZLED HEART (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
FUTURE HERO – Shifted out at the start and bumped with MALBEC MAN. Raced in restricted room passing the winning post on the first occasion when TURNER shifted in when sufficiently clear. Jockey D. Turner was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Laid out slightly rounding the first turn.
MALBEC MAN – Bumped at the start. Made the turn out of the home straight on the first occasion awkwardly and further shifted out near the 1250m.
MISHANI REACTOR – Apprentice O. Kendal reported her saddle slipped forward near the 1000m and she elected to take both feet out of the irons to avoid being dislodged and continued to ride without her irons for the remainder of the event.
SILVIO DANTE – Bumped at the start with SAKURA MAGIC (NZ). Contacted the running rail near the 600m. Apprentice J. Busuttin reported her mount raced one paced throughout.
SAKURA MAGIC (NZ) – Bumped at the start with SILVIO DANTE.
SUPIDO ROSE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
SO FORMIDABLE – Made the turn out of the home straight on the first occasion awkwardly and further shifted out near the 1250m.
THE IMMORTALS – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, in particular leading the event, jockey C. Eaton stated that from the good gate, the gelding begin well, and she found she was able to lead unchallenged. Jockey/Trainer C. Eaton was reminded of her obligations pursuant to AR 100 to advise Stewards should there be a change of tactics from the horse’s most recent racing pattern.
RACE 2: SOMERSET REGIONAL COUNCIL MAIDEN HANDICAP 800 Metres
HANEY – Bumped heavily with FORTUNATE DRAGON on several occasions at the start.
HANNAH'S ASTAR – Bumped when racing in restricted room near the 400m.
TEAJAY – Near the 400m, momentarily raced in restricted room and was steadied to the inside of HANEY (K. Zechner) which shifted in. Jockey K. Zechner rider of HANEY was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Made the home turn awkwardly.
FORTUNATE DRAGON – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped heavily with HANEY for several strides and became unbalanced. Bumped when racing in restricted room to the inside of TEAJAY near the 400m.
MISHANI HERCULES – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to resuming racing from an extended period.
BELLA RUSSIAN – Slow to begin.
CODE BUSTER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
SAGA'S GIRL – Stewards acceded to a request from connections to allow the mare to race without the tongue tie when it was unable to be fitted.
RACE 3:GREAT NORTHERN BREWERY CLASS 1 HANDICAP 800 Metres
Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey N. Thomas, rider of fifth placegetter, I'M A CHOCOHOLIC, to view the official photo finish.
JOEY D'OR – Bumped at the start. Near the 600m, steadied from heels when STARSARISE shifted in.
AYE EYE BOOM – Underwent a re-saddle on arrival to the barriers. Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn. Raced in restricted room when LEICA PHERRARI was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages. Obliged to steady approaching the finishing line. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey L. Tilley stated his mount was slow to muster early speed and in his opinion, would appreciate a step up in distance.
LEICA PHERRARI – Bumped at the start. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages of the home straight before being corrected by its rider.
STARSARISE – Shifted in near the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
SHE'S MY LADY – Heavily bumped at the start by LI'L REX and became unbalanced.
MHASAHN – Bumped at the start and had its hindquarters turned out.
I'M A CHOCOHOLIC – Began awkwardly and bumped with MHASAHN. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn until the early part of the home straight.
RACE 4: CON AND JENNY SEARLE BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1900 Metres
KNEZE – Inconvenienced and lost ground near the 700m when DELORME commenced to weaken.
PAPAL MISS – Slow to begin.
AU REVOIR – Raced wide from the 800m. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey C. Bayliss could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stable representative for J. Bruce stated the mare may not have appreciated today’s racing surface and would report back to Stewards on the post-race condition of AU REVOIR in the coming days.
GOLD MERCHANT – Slow to begin.
SECURITY ADVISOR – Laid in near the 50m.
DELORME – Raced wide until the 1000m. Commenced to weaken near the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery.
ATLANTIC ROYAL – Slow to begin.
WINSTON BLUE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to the gelding having raced on the 3rd of September 2025. Slow to begin.
RACE 5:LADBROKES COMMUNITIES CHAT & SHARE TIPS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1500 Metres
MOORABINDA MICK – Bumped on jumping. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
KIND WISH (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after contacting the fence with its hindquarters on leaving the enclosure and was subsequently cleared to start. Put in an awkward stride near the 350m.
PICKAXE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the PICKAXE to have bled from the offside nostril. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised the gelding must gallop 1000m in the presence of Stewards pursuant to AR 79(8) prior to resuming racing.
BOKUDEN – Underwent a re-saddle on arrival to the barriers.
HOLLYWOOD EPIC – Connections advised a change of tactics, to be ridden back in the field with cover. After beginning well, settled further forward. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey D. McGillivray stated after being caught wide, the gelding commenced to over race and was allowed to stride forward.
BLACK 'N' DEADLY – Began awkwardly and bumped with MOORABINDA MICK. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn until the 100m.
Following the running of this race, Apprentice J. Busuttin was examined by QAS officials after reporting abdominal cramping and was stood down from her remaining engagement. Apprentice J. Busuttin was advised she would require medical clearance prior to resuming. Subsequently, Stewards permitted the rider change in Race 6 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
RACE 6:KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey P. Hamblin, rider of fifth placegetter, ISLAND MAGIC to view the Stewards footage of the home straight. After doing so, he elected not to pursue the matter further and correct weight was declared.
PORRISTA (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to sustaining an abrasion to its right hindleg in transit to the racecourse and was subsequently scratched on veterinary advice at 3:10pm. Trainer M. Currie was advised the mare would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.
LITTLE VISTA – Began awkwardly and inconvenienced shortly thereafter when BETTER THAN BOOZE shifted in. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported his mount was inclined to hang out throughout.
ISLAND MAGIC – Near the 800m, became awkwardly placed on heels and forced wider when GAGNANTE ENCHERE shifted out whilst over racing. Leaving the 800m, bumped and became unbalanced when GAGNANTE ENCHERE shifted out when over racing. Near the 750m, taken wider and became awkwardly placed on heels when RED FEATHER BOA shifted out. Obliged to alter course in the home straight when RED FEATHER BOA shifted ground under riding. Apprentice C. Wells, rider of RED FEATHER BOA, was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident and reminded of her obligations to stop and straighten her mounts when shifting ground.
GAGNANTE ENCHERE – Near the 1100m, steadied from the heels of RED FEATHER BOA which shifted in. Apprentice C. Wells was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. Near the 800m, commenced to over race before shifting out to avoid the heels of OYSTERCATCHER, which shifted in. Apprentice K. Johnston was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Raced wide for the remainder.
OYSTERCATCHER – Buffeted between runners shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Apprentice K. Johnston reported that in her opinion, her mount was not suited to the tight turning track.
SHAMROCK'S SECRET – Raced wide for the majority.
RED FEATHER BOA – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 700m, when over racing improved onto heels and shifted out after failing to handle the turn. Trainer L. Gough was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for its racing manners. Apprentice C. Wells reported her mount was inclined to hang out throughout.
BETTER THAN BOOZE – Carried wider near the 800m when GAGNANTE ENCHERE shifted out when over racing. Raced wide for the majority.
GRANDEUR ROSE – Began awkwardly. Near the 750m, whilst over racing, attempted to improve to the inside of RED FEATHER BOA before being disappointed for that run, was inconvenienced and lost ground.
RACE 7: SEARLES GARDEN PRODUCTS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
ROMAN HEIR – Raced wide for the majority.
CAPIANA – Began awkwardly and tightened for room shortly thereafter. Failed to handle the turn at the 750m and shifted out despite the efforts of its rider. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Bumped with SPIRIT OF STORM rounding the home turn. Trainer T. Thomas was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its racing manners.
CRAZY EYED FRED – Tightened for room at the start between runners and blundered. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SURCOTE – Near the 750m, severely checked and lost ground when CAPIANA shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
SPIRIT OF STORM – Shifted out abruptly on jumping and bumped ROCK LOBSTER. Bumped with CAPIANA rounding the home turn.
ROCK LOBSTER – Bumped at the start and taken wider. Raced wide for the majority.
HALF MOON ROO – Tightened for room at the start between runners. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
KEITANY – Shifted in on jumping. Bumped on the hindquarters when laying in rounding the home turn and became unbalanced.
THE BRUMBY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to resuming racing from an extended period. Raced wide for the majority.
HELL OF A PRINCE – Near the 700m, obliged to check his mount when SURCOTE which had been carried out by CAPIANA, momentarily shifted in when being corrected by its rider.
