Race 1: CONGRATS STEPH LAYCOCK SOMERSET REGIONAL COUNCIL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP   1500 M
 
MISTER MIGHTY – Bumped at the start. Commenced to race keenly approaching the winning post on the first occasion. Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 1200m shifted out and away from GOING MY WAY. Near the 1000m when racing greenly, shifted in and was steadied from heels before being corrected by its rider. Raced wide throughout. Jockey L. Tilley reported that the gelding raced green and wide throughout and in his opinion the gelding had come to the end of its preparation. Stewards will follow up the performance with the stable.
 
PELLINOR – Slow to begin.
 
STRIKE ME PINK – Began awkwardly. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice K. Barker stated the filly may not have appreciated the step up in distance today and the softer track conditions. Apprentice K. Barker was reminded of her obligation regarding the use of the whip when her mounts are out of contention.
 
GOING MY WAY – Raced keenly for a short distance leaving the 1200m and steadied from the heels of ALKEBULAN. Jockey T. Brooker reported her mount made a respiratory noise upon pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
ALKEBULAN – Shifted out at the start and bumped MISTER MIGHTY.
 
 
Race 2: KILCOY GLOBAL FOODS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M
 
TOGETHERWE CONQUER – Near the 1000m, shifted out before being corrected by its rider.
 
CHEEKY CRAB – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
SNUGG – Slow to begin. Laid in upon entering the home straight and continued to lay in under pressure down the running, obliging rider S. Cormack to correct his mount and subsequently went to the line unable to be fully tested. Rider S. Cormack reported that when his mount was slow away, he was mindful of his instructions not to pressure the mare in the early stages to improve and allow it to travel comfortably. He added that he elected not to make his run wide and near the 600m, momentarily eased to take an inside run between CHEEKY CRAB and TOGETHERWE CONQUER. He added that SNUGG laid in under pressure in the home straight which he felt had an effect on the finishing position.
 
WANNA KISS – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
ASTERN POWERS – Began awkwardly, shifted in and hampered KELBRELYN.
 
KELBRELYN – Hampered at the start.
 
 
Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN BREWERY MAIDEN PLATE 1900 M
 
RUBOS – Raced wide in the early stages. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice M. Philpot stated that her intentions were to be more forward however, when caught wide early, she elected to restrain and come back to obtain cover. She further stated that from the 1000m, the gelding failed to respond to her riding and in her opinion, was not suited to the tighter turning track.
 
TWILIGHT STEPS – Slow to begin. Near the 500m, improved onto the heels of the weakening PREACHABULL and was held up for clear running momentarily before shifting wider.
 
GLAD I MET YOU – Shifted out at the start and hampered PHYLISS. Laid out leaving the 600m and was steadied from the heels of RUBOS. Eased out of the race approaching the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have anhidrosis and had lost its off-hind plate. Trainer R. Tyrell was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance inclusive of the suitability to race in hot and humid conditions and would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again. R. Tyrell advised that it would be the intention to retire the gelding.
 
COSMIC INSANITY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to resuming racing from an extended period and was subsequently cleared to start.
 
MAGIC THEY SAY – Over raced near the 1650m when being restrained. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
OUR ESPRIT – Raced wide for the majority.
 
PHYLISS – Hampered at the start. Over raced near the 1650m when being restrained. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, raced ungenerously for a short distance.
 
PREACHABULL – Leaving the 100m, Jockey J. Taylor dropped his whip.
 
After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Soft 5 at 2:37pm.
 
 
Race 4: LADBROKES MEGA MULTI BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP    1900 M
 
BAVARIAN LADY – Slow to begin. Near the 700m, improved onto the heels of SO YOU CAN TORQUE and had to be steadied before shifting out and away. Rider R. Wiggins stated that he would have preferred to be closer in the run, however, after his mount was slow to begin and with the slow sectionals in the early and middle stages, he was obliged to race further back than anticipated.
 
SECURITY ADVISOR – Raced wide for the majority.
 
SOMETHING FORJO – Bumped at the start. When asked to comment on the performance, rider N. Tomizawa stated that the mare failed to handle the step up in distance of today’s race.
 
BUDDY'S TALE – Began awkwardly and bumped the hindquarters of SOMETHING FORJO and became unbalanced. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
HE'S VIRAL (NZ) – Rider B. Andrew was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(6)(c) for use of the whip when out of contention.
 
 
Race 5: KILCOY BP DRIVEWAY BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 800M
 
BULSARA – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced wide for the majority.
 
SUPER ZAMBONI – Bumped at the start.
 
KENTUCKY ROSE – Began awkwardly.
 
RUNAROUND SUE – Began awkwardly and shifted in and bumped SUPER ZAMBONI.
 
 
Race 6: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1500 M
 
MISHANI REACTOR – Began awkwardly and a short distance later was bumped by HALF MOON ROO and became unbalanced. Rider J. Huxtable reported it was his intention to lead, however when the gelding was slow to begin, he was unable to follow out his instructions and raced back in the field with cover.
 
GOOGAZ – Raced wide for the majority.
 
PROCLAIMER – Slow to begin. Leaving the 900m, momentarily steadied when DENETTA shifted in.
 
DUKE OF LANCASTER – Bumped with KEY COMPONENT at the start. Passing the winning post on the first occasion was momentarily steadied when ROYAL GLADIATOR shifted in before being corrected by the rider.
 
ROYAL GLADIATOR – Near the 900m, improved onto the heels of DUKE OF LANCASTER and was steadied. When asked to comment on the performance, rider C. Collis stated that the gelding failed to run out the step up in distance of today’s race, adding that his mount travelled comfortably to the 300m, however failed to respond to his riding from that point. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the performance with the stable.
 
HALF MOON ROO – Bumped at the start with MISHANI REACTOR. Leaving the 900m, steadied from the heels of DENETTA which shifted in. Apprentice K. Johnston stated that her mount was not suited by the fast tempo of the race and settled further back than anticipated.
 
KEY COMPONENT – Bumped with DUKE OF LANCASTER at the start. When asked to comment on the performance, rider D. Smith stated that his mount would appreciate a significant step up in distance on a bigger track as it was not suited to today’s tight turning track, as well as being placed back to maiden class. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer S. Ryan was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for its poor performance.
 
 
Race 7: SEARLES GARDEN PRODUCTS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP       1200 M
 
XERRI – Raced wide for the majority. Forced wider rounding the home turn. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice C. Krahnen stated that it was her instructions to lead as per the horse’s recent run however, was forced to race wide from the barrier, adding that this as well as being up in weight had an effect on the horse’s overall performance.
 
MR WANDJI – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keen for a short distance near the 900m.
 
I’LLTELLYOUSO – Forced wider rounding the home turn.
 
ELIZABASS – Began awkwardly. Laid out approaching the home turn. Shifted out rounding the home turn taking TORONESS out which in turn forced I'LLTELLYOUSO and XERRI wider on the track. Near the 50m, was momentarily steadied when tightened for room between TORONESS which shifted in marginally and HUSS ON FIRST (K. Yoshida) which shifted out to improve. Rider K. Yoshida was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
TORONESS – Slow to begin. Rider R. Wiggins stated the mare was dropping back in distance today and it was his intention to be in a forward position, however after being slow to begin and the quick tempo of the race, he settled further back in the field than anticipated.
 
HEADLINE LEGEND – Hung out approaching the home turn. Apprentice K. Barker was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(6)(c) regarding the use of the whip when out of contention.
