GENERAL
 
Race 4. Trainer J. Hancock was reprimanded pursuant to LR67(1) for the late rider declaration of apprentice O. Kendal as the rider of UP OVER’N’ GONE.
 
Race 7. Trainer B. Gorman was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the race day declaration of apprentice W. Galloway as the rider of CLAW MACHINE.
 
Race 6. Trainer K. Clark-Peoples was fined $100 pursuant to LR68(1) for failing to scratch OVER DRAFT by the prescribed time. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account that this late scratching did not cost any other runner a start in the race.
 
As rider D. McGillivray was late arriving on course and as there was no other senior rider available, he was replaced by Apprentice S. Bailey on CAUSE SHE’S WORTHY in Race 1. Rider D. McGillivray was fined $100 pursuant to AR127(1) for failing to fulfil a riding engagement.
 
As rider A. Keeley was late arriving due to transport difficulties, he was replaced by J. Taylor on PAULI in Race 3.
 
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 2: S. Cormack +1kg (55)
Race 2: D. McGillivray +1kg (55)
 
Race 1 - SOMERSET REGIONAL COUNCIL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE      1200 Metres
 
The running of this race was delayed when CAUSE SHE’S WORTHY became fractious in the barriers, was subsequently removed from the barriers underwent a veterinary examination and passed suitable to start. The running of this race was further delayed when AVGAS refused to load and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 12:57pm. Further, then GLEN’S HEN became fractious and cast in the barriers. GLEN’S HEN was subsequently declared a late withdrawal at 12:58pm on veterinary advice.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on AVGAS be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st – LA PREMIERE 30c Win, 23c Place
2nd – MISHANI CABELLO 23c Place
3rd – MISS INFORMED 25c Place

Co-Trainer A. Simpson was advised that both AVGAS and GLEN’S HEN would both be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. A post race veterinary examination of GLEN’S HEN revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
CAUSE SHE'S WORTHY - Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. On entering the home straight, steadied from the heels of BETTER FIRE UP.
 
IT'SRAINING RUBIES – Slow to begin.
         
LA PREMIERE - Began awkwardly.
 
MISHANI CABELLO – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure over the final 50m.
 
MISS INFORMED - Began awkwardly. Raced wide from passing the 900m. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
         
Following the running of this race the track was downgraded to a Soft (6).
 
         
Race 2 - LADBROKES PLACE EXTRA BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP   1900 Metres
 
TAVANASIA (NZ) - Raced keenly in the early stages, and passing the 1500m steadied from heels.  
 
SOCIAL PARIAH - Began awkwardly. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
 
O'CALDINO - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination having raced at Doomben on August 5th 2026. Raced wide in the early stages until improving to outside the leader passing the 1000m.
 
TRUSTY BANDIT - Held up for clear running from the 300m until passing the 200m.
 
RAINBOW GLITTER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination having raced at Warwick on August 4th 2026.
 
BRAVE BOY – Slow to begin.
                   
         
         
Race 3 - LADBROKES BIG BETS COPY NOW BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP        1500 Metres
 
DRIALLE – Blundered on jumping.
 
VACILLATION – Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 1300m, whilst over racing, shifted out forcing SHAPE OF WATER wider. Shortly afterwards, steadied from the heels of DRIALLE when the pace of the race slackened. Continued to over race until the passing the 900m.
         
ULUWATU - Began awkwardly and then bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start.
 
SHAPE OF WATER - Near the 1300m, bumped and forced wider when VACILLATION shifted out. When asked to comment on the performance Apprentice C. Lowe reported the gelding was left flat footed when the pace of the race quickened and in her opinion, SHAPE OF WATER would be better suited to a step up in distance.
 
BROOKLYN DAISY – Shifted out abruptly at the winning post on the first occasion resulting in rider T. Brooker losing the use of her offside iron and becoming unbalanced.
         
PAULI - Began awkwardly and lost ground.
         
         
Race 4 - KILCOY GLOBAL FOODS MAIDEN HANDICAP          1500 Metres
 
BARTLE FRERE – Passing the 1300m, inconvenienced when ENJECTOR shifted out. Near the 500m, held up for clear running and shifted out to improve.
 
SHREWDNESS (NZ) – Shifted out on jumping and bumped ELLOFABY. Apprentice J. Emmerson reported that the gelding was inclined to lay out throughout.
 
ENJECTOR - Commenced to weaken near the 400m. Rider T. Brooker could offer no explanation for the poor performance.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrythmia. Trainer R. Beaton was advised that ENJECTOR would be required to fulfill the Racing Australia Code of Practice for cardiac arrythmia prior to resuming racing.         
         
SUCCESSISMAGIC – Shifted out on jumping.
         
ELLOFABY – Bumped at the start by SHREWDNESS.         
 
UP OVER'N GONE - Began awkwardly. Apprentice O. Kendal reported her mount was inclined to lay out throughout. 
 
HAPPY COFFEE - Connections advised change of tactics; attempt to lead if circumstances permit. Unable to muster speed in the early stages and improved to a position near the leaders passing the 800m. Raced wide throughout. Weakened from the 400m.  
 
BRAIDWOOD ROSE – Began awkwardly and then hampered shortly after the start by SUCCESSISMAGIC. Attempted to jump the crossing near the 1300m, becoming very unbalanced and shifting wider. Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 800m, whilst over racing, steadied from the heels of HAPPY COFFEE (M. Savva) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. M. Savva was reprimanded purusant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
           
         
         
Race 5 - LADBROKES SWITCH CLASS 1 HANDICAP          1500 Metres
 
Stewards inquired into an incident passing the 1300m. After taking evidence from riders A. Keeley (PULIGNY), A. Thompson (BRAIN WAVE), TARTAN TIGER (B. Lerena) and apprentice S. Callow (SKIEDA), it was established that passing the 1300m, PULIGNY, which was racing in restricted room to the inside of SKIEDA had to be steadied, and shifted out marginally causing BRAIN WAVE to be restrained and shift outwards across the heels of AIR OF AUTHORITY (C. Taylor), before carrying TARTAN TIGER wider before that runner became very awkward at the heels of BRAIN WAVE, becoming unbalanced, shifting out and losing ground. After taking evidence from riders and viewing the patrol footage, Stewards ascertained that not any one rider was accountable for this incident, and no action was deemed necessary.  
 
TARTAN TIGER – Near the 1300m, became awkwardly placed at the heels of BRAIN WAVE, becoming unbalanced and taken wider, and lost ground.
 
PULIGNY – Bumped at the start with SKIEDA. Steadied near the 1300m when racing in restricted room to the inside of SKIEDA. Passing the 1200m, again steadied from the heels of SKIEDA (apprentice S. Callow) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice S. Callow was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
         
BRAIN WAVE – Passing the 600m, laid out and continued to lay out for a short distance after. Raced wide throughout.     
         
MYSTICAL GEM - Began awkwardly. Took the crossing near the 1300m awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
PIGGIETALES – Shifted out on jumping. Shifted wider near the 1300m when ROXSET shifted out.
 
SKIEDA - Bumped on jumping with PULIGNY. Held up from the 300m until on entering the home straight before becoming awkward on the heels of AIR OF AUTHORITY before shifting out to obtain clear running.
 
LORD DANILO – Slow to begin.
         
ROXSET – Slow to begin. Checked from heels passing the 1300m when BRAIN WAVE shifted out.

Race 6 - AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE FORCE RACEDAY 23 AUGUST BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP    1200 Metres
 
WHISPERING ROGUE – Over raced in the middle stages. Passing the 500m, bumped with ESPRIT DU JOUR on a number of occasions. Shifted in near the 100m and brushed the running rail.  Apprentice A. Heinrich was questioned in the presence of senior rider T. Brooker, regarding her instructions and the tactics adopted in the event particularly in pressuring her mount in the middle stages. Ms Heinrich stated that she was instructed to lead if possible, however if unable to do so, to have her mount travelling comfortably and in close proximity to the lead. Ms Heinrich stated that her mount began well and she allowed WHISPERING ROGUE to stride forward to sit outside the leader ESPRIT DU JOUR near the 1000m. However at this point, she was unable to cross and lead that runner, so elected to sit outside ESPIRIT DU JOUR. She further stated that her mount commenced to over race and proved difficult to restrain. Stewards in assessing the patrol footage and evidence provided, advised Ms Heinrich that she should have made greater effort to restrain her mount in the middle stages and had erred in her judgement by not attempting to obtain a position trailing the leader. Stewards took no further action due to Ms Heinrich’s status as an apprentice and the racing manners of her mount.
         
ESPRIT DU JOUR - Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room from the 500m until the 400m, and passing the 500m, bumped with WHISPERING ROGUE on a several occasions.
         
PIREONTI - Rider B. Lerena reported that his mount was not suited by the pace of the race today, however, he wasn’t disappointed with the finishing effort of PIREONTI, and in his opinion, the mare would be suited to a step up in distance at its next start.  
         
STAR VENTURE – Slow to begin. Near the 300m, improved onto the heels of USUAL LIMITS before shifting wider to improve.  
                   
         
         
Race 7 - EXCHANGE HOTEL KILCOY RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP        1200 Metres
 
COPPER STAR – Began awkwardly.
         
CHICO CASINO – Raced wide throughout.
         
CLAW MACHINE – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
         
DUKE OF LANCASTER - Slow to begin.
 
SKELLIG ROCK – Proved difficult to proceed to start. Trainer L. Wanless was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for its pre-race manners. Mr Wanless was also reprimanded pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting the mare to the mounting yard without a tongue tie which is part of its advertised gear. Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 600m, when the pace of the race slackened, had to be steadied from heels. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
BOLLA BOLLA BABE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
RESOLUTE LADY - Began awkwardly and lost ground.
         
BRAIDWOOD QUEEN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
         
CALVARY - Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running passing the 300m until shortly after entering the home straight.
 
MISS WATERLINE - Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 600m, when the pace of the race slackened, had to be steadied from heels
