Race 1: GALILEE BASIN HAULAGE & PLANT HIRE CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1000 metres


ATTRACTION – Began awkwardly and lost considerable ground.

PINTERRA – Travelled wide throughout. Jockey G. Steele warned about her whip use in the straight.

FRISCO – Travelled wide in the early stages with cover.

LITTLE FEATHER – Hung for the majority of the event.


Race 2: RINGROSE BUTTON CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS CLASS 6 PLATE - 1200 metres

The start of race 2 was delayed as Jockey B Richardson and Trainer T Austin had not arrived on course due to delays with transportation of horses en route.

A short delay to correct weight as Jockey J Babarovich (TIMMY’S TURN) and owner J. Eggerling viewed the photo finish image for first. After doing so, both were satisfied with the judge’s placing and correct weight was declared.

EMPEROR – Began awkwardly then hampered by outside runner.

BILLY JAY – Slow to begin.

I’M A ZULU – Jumped inwards making contact with EMPEROR.

RHYTHM NATION – Slow to begin and travelled wide throughout.

HUGHIE AND ME – Hung out on the home turn taking outside runner wider on the track.

Race 3: SAUNDERS ELECTRICAL CONTRACTING CLASS B HANDICAP - 1300 metres

MISS NOVELTY – Slow to begin.

BROTHER RABBIT – Slow to begin.

MIGHTY SAVANNAH – Eased at the 900m when racing in restricted room.

Upon returning to scale Jockey Babarovich (MIGHTY SAVANNAH) the third placed horse lodged a protest against second placed horse RAHEEBS KINGDOM, Jockey J. Lait for alleged interference at the 800m and 400m. After taking submissions and viewing the patrol footage the protest was dismissed and correct weight given on the judge’s placings.

Race 4: SIMSTOCK RURAL AGENCIES / OAKEY BEEF EXPORTS OPEN HANDICAP - 1300 metres

KEREDARI was a late scratching at 3:00pm as there were no available jockeys.

Stewards inquired into the late jockey declaration of G. Steele on NEPTUNE EXPRESS and accepted trainer R. Simpson’s explanation.

Jockey R. Hancock was dislodged from CONQUISTADOR on the way to the barriers. The jockey was uninjured and the gelding was finally restrained. Trainer G. Browne was told a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again. The gelding was a late scratching at 3:50pm and deductions were announced with correct weight as 12 cents in the dollar for win bets and 14 cents in the dollar for place bets.

WIGPOOL – Apprentice S. Alam lost his outside iron on jumping and had difficulty controlling and riding the gelding during the race. Upon returning to scale apprentice Alam stated the ride had hurt his back and was attended to by ambulance officers. S. ALAM was advised a clearance to ride in races would be required prior to his next race ride.

NEPTUNE EXPRESS – Slow to begin.

LEO’S SPIRIT – Slow to begin.


Race 5: CAMM AGRICULTURAL GROUP / BALLARD LIVESTOCK TPT BM 65 HANDICAP - 1400 metres

BANNER— Declared a late scratching by stewards at 4:10pm when Apprentice Alam was unable to fulfil his riding engagement due to injury.

KEV’S DESTINY, SPIRIT OF MANY and SHOW US A SMILE were all late scratchings at 12pm as there were no riders available.

Stewards inquired into the dual engagement of Jockey Richardson on SHOW US A SMILE and INSTINCTIVE MOVE. Stewards accepted her explanation.

REIGNING TO WIN – no riders available.

SAFE WORLD – Slow to begin.

NORTHERN MAGIC – Travelled wide for the majority.
