GENERAL
 
Due to Jockey M Gray not riding at the meeting due to acceptable reasons, he was replaced in Race 6 on DEEP BREATH by Jockey P Hamblin.
 
Overweight permitted as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.


Race 1: ANDERSON / HARRIS BOOKMAKERS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE  1000 M

FLYING ASTERN (NZ) – Checked between runners soon after the start. Checked and contacted the running rail near the 600m. Jockey N Day reported some ankle soreness but did not require treatment.
 
FULL OF EURO – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed minor abrasions to both hind fetlocks and was cleared to start.
 
PLEA – Began awkwardly. Crowded soon after the start. Hung in racing around the turn at the 700m. Hung in badly near the 600m despite considerable effort from the rider, resulting in MISHANI OUTLAW, BLOOMIN’ GOLD and FLYING ASTERN (NZ) all being checked. As a result of this incident FLYING ASTERN (NZ) made contact with the inside running rail. Trainer C Dixon was advised that PLEA has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory trial.
 
SOME CAT – Jumped outwards at the start and carried BLOOMIN’ GOLD out onto FLYING ASTERN (NZ) which was checked as a result. Hung in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
BLOOMIN' GOLD – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHERRY POP – Began awkwardly and shifted in after the start carrying EMERALD JOY in onto PLEA which was crowded as a consequence.
 
EMERALD JOY – Carried inwards soon after the start.
 
SNOWY ON THE TRAMS – Hung in on occasions during the run and trailed the field over the final 600. Trainer R Little was advised that a warning has been placed on the gelding for a poor performance. Trainer Little advised that he would consider the future racing prospects of the horse within his stable.
 

Race 2: ADAM BALLARD 'QLD LOCAL LEGEND' - CLEAR MOUNTAIN FAIRVIEW BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP  1400 M

BIJARA – Raced wide throughout.
 
FINAL MISSION – Shifted in under riding near the 200m. Apprentice A Meissner was advisedly spoken to regarding her obligations to maintain a straight course. Liad in over the final 100m.
 
DEVIL ENUFF – Impeded at the start when THE LANDING shifted out.
 
CUSHY (NZ) – Shifted out across heels near the 200m when FINAL MISSION shifted inwards.
 
THE LANDING – Shifted out on jumping and impeded DEVIL ENUFF. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
READY TO GROOVE – Began awkwardly and was crowded soon after the start when LASTING PROMISE shifted in. Momentarily raced in restricted room approaching the 800m.
 
GOODFUN – When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey T Townsend stated that the filly travelled well early and then failed to respond to riding when placed under pressure. Jockey Townsend further added that the additional weight carried by GOODFUN in today’s event may have possibly been a contributing factor.
 
LASTING PROMISE – Shifted inwards at the start and crowded READY TO GROOVE. Shifted wider to improve from the 700m. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 3: LONGREACH TYRE CENTRE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP  1100 M

BALDASSARE – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MUSIC AWARD – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
FELONIOUS – Began awkwardly and shifted out after the start impeding WOLF POINT.
 
MORE THAN A STAR – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Began awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Laid in for a short distance passing the 150m resulting in the rider requiring to stop riding and correct his mount.
 
WINDOW TAPPER – Raced wide throughout.
 
CHIEF MONDO – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey J Rudd stated that the gelding travelled well during the run before weakening over the final 200m.
 
WOLF POINT – Impeded after the start when FELONIUS shifted out.
 

Race 4: CENTRAL WEST RURAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP  1200 M

VICI – Raced wide throughout.
 
BRILLIANT MELODY – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BOSTON OF TUFFY – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
OUTBACK STEP – Raced wide throughout. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BONNET ROUGE – Declared a late scratching at 10.25am after Trainer R Little advised that the mare was displaying signs of colic. Trainer Little was advised that a Veterinary clearance is required prior to the mare resuming racing.
 
POTESTAS – Bounded on jumping and was slow to begin as a result. When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey T Townsend stated that after a poor start the gelding settled mid-field and resented the kick back.
 
GETTIN' LIPPY – Raced wide over the final 600m.
 
VALIANT JOAN – Began awkwardly. Jockey J Rudd pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for excessive use of the whip in that he applied the whip to his mount on 8 occasions prior to the 100m and 16 times in total. In accordance with the whip penalty template, Jockey Rudd’s license to ride in races was suspended for 8 days to commence Midnight 21 June 2025 and finish Midnight 29 June 2025.
 

Race 5: BARKERS NEWSAGENCY BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP         1000 M

ZUFASTA – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice J Busuttin reported that her mount hung out throughout the event and upon pulling up contacted the outside running rail. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
FREDDIE EDDIE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 700m commenced to over race for some distance and had to be restrained of heels.
 
HAMISO – Raced wide throughout.
 
BOP 'N' DAN – Eased from the heels of BOATING approaching the home turn when that runner shifted in. Apprentice B Johnson (BOATING) was reprimanded under AR131(a) for allowing her mount to shift in at this point of the race.
 
HOLY TROJAN – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear racing room entering the home straight.
 
FERGHANA – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight,
 
ARABIAN SOO – Began awkwardly. Awkwardly placed on the heels of CROATIAN QUEEN near the 80m and had to check.
 
CROATIAN QUEEN – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight and then shifted outwards near the 80m and as a result ARABIAN SOO was awkwardly placed at the heels of that runner and was checked. Jockey T Townsend (CROATIAN QUEEN) was reprimanded under AR131(a) for carelessly allowing her mount to shift out at this point of the race.
 
NEVER REFUSE – Raced wide throughout.
 
BOATING – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 6: 4LG & WEST FM OUTBACK RACING SHOWCASE - HEAT - OPEN HANDICAP      1400 M

KOBE ROCKS (NZ) – Declared a late scratching at 8.10am when Trainer R Williams advised that the gelding was lame when being loaded to be transported to the meeting. Trainer Williams was advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to the gelding resuming racing.
 
SCORCHED LAND – Raced wide in the early stages. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
BURDEKIN – Raced wide throughout.
 
HEYINGTON STATION – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ENABLER – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SOLE HEIR – Shifted outwards after jumping.
 
 
Race 7: GBA CONSULTING ENGINEERS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP      1600 M

SPERANZOSO (GB) – Raced wide early. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
SHARP DAZZLER – Began awkwardly and shifted inwards, hampering SUMMER SIZZLING. Trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
SUMMER SIZZLING – Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after the start by SHARP DAZZLER which shifted inwards. Raced wide throughout.
 
BELLO BELLO – Slow to begin. Made the home turn awkwardly.
 
SPILL THE DIAMONDS – Raced wide throughout.
 
HARCH ROAD – Upon returning to scale, Jockey T Townsend advised that her mount was inclined to over race in the early stages.
 
DIVINE COURAGE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SHOALWATER BAY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
