Stewards – Z Lines (Cadet).
GENERAL
Due to the hot weather conditions that were forecast for the Longreach race day, the start time for the programme was set at 11.00am with each race following to be started at 35-minute intervals. The race meeting was conducted in accordance with the QRIC caring for racing animals in extreme heat policy with pre-race parade times significantly reduced and the establishment of on-course cooling stations in the race-day tie-ups, parade areas and a number of other relevant measures.
The following horse was declared a late scratching by Stewards at 9.38 am when there was no rider available:
Race 3: COLD ONE
Due to the delay before Race 3, the remaining start times were rescheduled to the following:
Race 3: 12.45pm
Race 4: 1.10pm
Race 5: 1.45pm
Race 1: WELLSHOT HOTEL CLASS 3 PLATE 3-Y-O & Up 1000 Metres
Correct weight was delayed allowing Jockey J Rudd, the rider of second placed SALT LAKE BETTY, to view the photo finish. When Jockey Rudd and Stewards were similarly satisfied, correct weight was given on the judges’ semaphored numbers.

The start of this race was delayed when a further Veterinary examination was conducted on THARGOMINDAH which pulled up lame after competing in Race 1 and had been given time to cool down. CROWN REACH – Tightened for room passing the 50m. At a subsequent inquiry into the incident, Jockey T Townsend the rider of HEYINGTON STATION, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that when pressuring her mount passing the 50m, she made insufficient effort to prevent the gelding from shifting in to the rightful running of CROWN REACH (Jockey M Gray) which was tightened for room, resulting in CROWN REACH being checked and losing ground. The licence of Jockey Townsend to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days commencing midnight 10th November 2025 up to and including 17th November 2025. When considering penalty, Stewards determined the carelessness to be in the low range, whilst also considering Jockey Townsends good record in relation to the rule and her guilty plea to be mitigating factors. Jockey Townsend was advised of her right to an appeal.
