GENERAL
 
The following horses were declared late scratching’s by Stewards at 11.20am due to no riders being available at the meeting:
Race 4: FINAL COMMENT, SO OUTRAGEOUS.
Race 5: COLD ONE.
 
Race 1: JIM EGAN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
 
RAPIDS – Laid in under pressure approaching the 200m.
 
BOURBON LANE – Began awkwardly. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled both nostrils in the event. Trainer H Forster was advised that pursuant to AR79(b), the gelding must not race for a period of 3 months and must complete a 1000m trial or jump out to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.
 
INTENSE STEEL – Raced wide early and middle stages of the event. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SALT LAKE BETTY – Began awkwardly and blundered on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide throughout the event
 
POCKET PICKER – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FREDDIE EDDIE – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
 
Race 2: ERNIE MCCULLAGH MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
GUNBOAT – Began awkwardly and bumped DREYFUS.
 
YA LOVE HER – Slow to begin. Jockey R Faehr reported that in his opinion the gelding will be better suited in races over a further distance than today’s event.
 
TAHKIAN BUBBLES – Shifted in shortly after jumping.
 
DIRTY MERCHANT – Slow into stride and trailed the field. Trainer/Jockey S Galvin reported that DIRTY MERCHANT never travelled well at any stage of the event and also added that it his intension to retire the gelding from racing.
 
DREYFUS – Bumped on jumping.
 
RUN FREDA RUN – Slow to begin. Shifted in passing the 150m to obtain clear running.
 
FINAL MISSION – Began awkwardly.
 
ALL VALOUR – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 3: FOODWORKS LONGREACH GUNFIRE BREAKFAST QTIS CLASS B HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
IMMINENT BOOM – Over raced in the early stages of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SIR OCCY – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
HOLY HOLY HOLY – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m.
 
BLOOMIN' GOLD – Slow to begin. Apprentice Jockey M Mankelow reported that BLOOMIN' GOLD was inclined to lay in at certain stages of the event and made contact with the running rail when rounding the home turn.
 
Race 4: LONGREACH RSL SUB-BRANCH BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
 
ARDEN GREEN – Began awkwardly and bumped BOLD HUSSAR. Jockey R Faehr reported that ARDEN GREEN was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn and also added that in his opinion the gelding was unsuited by todays track conditions.
 
BOLD HUSSAR – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LIP SIP SUK – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LUCKY FORCE – Shifted out shortly after jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DIVINE COURAGE – Slow to begin.
 
FERGHANA – Slow to begin.
 
CALL OUT – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
FINAL COMMENT – Declared to be a late scratching at 11.20am when there was no rider available at the meeting to ride the gelding.

Race 5: LONGREACH RSL DIGGERS CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400 Metres
 
ECHO POINT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
VICTORY BAY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn until passing the 300m.
 
STAMPEDE WARRIOR – Slow to begin. Blundered on jumping. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
HEYINGTON STATION – Laid in under pressure rounding the home turn and down the home straight.
 
HURRICANE THUNDER – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn before shifting wider on the track to obtain clear running.
 
COLD ONE – Declared to be a late scratching at 11.20am when there was no rider available at the meeting to ride the gelding.
 
STORM FORCE TEN – Steadied when weakening passing the 80m when momentarily placed in restricted room between LITTLE COINTREAU (NZ) and LEGOLAS.
