GENERAL
 
Due to continued showers throughout the morning an inspection of the track was completed prior to Race 1 and the track was downgraded to a Soft 5.

Race 1: WONGABEL QUARRIES N CONCRETE / BOLWARRA ENTERPRISES BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1000M

RACATOON - As the gelding had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. On returning to scale Rider A Sewell reported at the start the inside gate rebounded back slightly and then contacted his right elbow.
 
SPILL THE TEARS - As the gelding had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. Over-raced in the early stages of the race.
 
FLY WITH YOU - As the gelding had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. On jumping the inside barrier gate rebounded slightly hampering the gelding. Shifted in abruptly on jumping and bumped with MR CALEB.
 
MR CALEB – Slow to begin, bumped by FLY WITH YOU on jumping. Lay in under pressure from the 200 metres until corrected by its rider.
 
LASER BEAM - Slow to begin.
 
Following the running of this race the barrier gate issue was brought to the attention of the starter who undertook further maintenance on the barriers.
 
Race 2: L.D. LUCEY MEMORIAL QTIS Maiden Plate (SPONSORED BY LUCEY FAMILIES) 1000M

CHARM TELLER – Bumped the enclosure gate on entering the course proper to the start and was subject to a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Shifted in approaching the 800 metres and crowded COACHMAN. At the 800 metres was bumped by SUPERSTIONS which shifted out. Lay in under pressure leaving the 200 metres until corrected by its rider.
 
BEAUTIFUL LIES – The barrier gates rebounded slightly back at the start but did not hamper the horse on jumping.
 
SUPERSTITIONS – The barrier gates rebounded slightly back on jumping but did not hamper the horse. Shifted out at the 800 metres bumping CHARM TELLER.
 
ELSPHERE – Slow to begin.
 
RISING RUBY – Shifted out abruptly on jumping forcing URIS wider, raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race.
 
URIS – Forced wide on jumping by RISING RUBY.
 
COACHMAN – Crowded by CHARM TELLER approaching the 800 metres of the race.
 
Race 3:STOCKLICK TRADING / SHEDFAB OPEN Handicap 1200M

TYCOON BEAU – Threw its head in the air on jumping and blundered shortly after the start.
 
LIDDER VALLEY – Blundered on its own accord shortly after the start.
 
JOURNALISM – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CROWNING MOMENT – Laid out under pressure leaving the 200 metres until corrected by its rider.
 
Race 4: DUFFYS FURNITURE COURT BEDS R US ATHERTON / 4X4 FNQ BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1350M

ELLIE’S DREAM – Having raced and won at Mount Garnet 2 May 25 the gelding incurred a 1.5kg penalty for that win and was re-handicapped at 62kg for this race. Once on course it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and again after completing its preliminary to the barriers and was subsequently passed fit to start by the oncourse veterinary surgeon.
 
BRADSHAW – Raced three wide no cover for the majority of the race.
 
PREMIUM STAR – Over-raced in the middle stages of the race.
 
Race 5: RAVENSHOE TIMBERS PTY LTD Class 1 Handicap 1680M

PLATINUM FIELD – Shifted in on jumping and bumped LUMIERE.
 
LUMIERE – Bumped on jumping by PLATINUM FIELD which shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Trainer John Manzelmann was notified that in accordance with AR 79(4), LUMIERE shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse, recognized training track, private training establishment, or other place for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: (i) a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or (ii) an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward.
 
MERRY OLD SOUL (NZ) – Wide for the majority of the race.

MISHANI BURN – On jumping, the outside barrier gate rebounded slightly but did not hamper the geldings start. When questioned as to the tactics adopted today of MISHANI BURN leading by a considerable distance in the middle stages, Jockey R. Shred advised her instructions were to ride the gelding forward and assume the lead. She further advised stewards the gelding raced keenly after obtaining the lead and it was not her intention to establish a lead of that size. Trainer A. Maliff confirmed the instructions and advised the gelding had raced in this pattern previously in its recent races.
 
Race 6: ROD FITCHETT TIRRABELLA PASTORAL COMPANY TIRRABELLA MT GARNET CUP OPEN Handicap 1800M

HARROW (IRE) - Stood flat footed at the start losing considerable ground. Trainer S MASSINGHAM was advised a warning was placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
DEEPSTRIKE (NZ) – Stood flat footed at the start losing considerable ground. Trainer J MANZELMANN was advised a warning was placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
VIVENZO - On jumping the inside and outside barrier gates rebounded slightly but did not hamper the geldings start.
 
LOVE ON SUNDAY – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
MEDAL (NZ) – Shifted out near the 700 metres to obtain clear running forcing SECRET LOCATION wider.
 
SECRET LOCATION – Shifted wider near the 700 metres when MEDAL shifted out to obtain clear running. Rider App. L. Leslight later advised stewards the gelding had a tendency to lay out during the race. Raced wide for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
Stewards will inquire into an alleged verbal altercation between Jockey G. Kliese and App. Jockey T. Leslight in the jockey’s room following the running of this race. A date and time will be determined to allow App. Jockey T. Leslight to obtain representation.
