SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

GENERAL
Permitted Overweight’s:
Race 3, L. Morrison (SEVENTIES HIT) +1kg
Race 3, L. Guernier (YAMABUSHI) +1kg to allocated riding weight.
 
BLONDIE’S SECRET and THIRD MASTER which competed yesterday 1/05/2026 underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start.
 
NOT A WORRY (NZ) – Which competed yesterday 1/05/2026 underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be sore in both hind legs and as such was declared a late scratching at 11.55am. Trainer A. Malliff was advised he must provide a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to NOT A WORRY being permitted to trial or race again.

RACE 1: WONGABEL QUARRIES N CONCRETE/BOLWARRA ENTERPRISES BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1000 M
 
GAMADALE NIP – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ROTHECATE – Slow to begin.
 
BUFFET BUSTER – Shifted out at the start bumping NEW HAMPSHIRE. Disappointed for a run between MIDAS STAR and RONS FINEST CHOICE near the 300 metres and was steadied.
 
NEW HAMPSHIRE – Bumped on jumping.
 
RONS FINEST CHOICE (NZ) – Laid out near the 700 metres and clipped a heel of MIDAS STAR which laid in, blundered and lost ground. Shifted in near the 300 metres crowding the running of BUFFET BUSTER which was attempting a tight run between MIDAS STAR and RONS FINEST CHOICE. Rider dismounted on pulling up and a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had injured its near fore suspensory ligament. Trainer S. Massingham was advised he must provide a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to RONS FINEST CHOICE trialing or racing again.
 
MIDAS STAR – Laid in approaching the 700 metres placing RON’S FINEST CHOICE which laid out in restricted room. Whilst stewards noted the racing manners of both MIDAS STAR and RONS FINEST CHOICE, jockey I. Fry was nonetheless advised to show greater care and make a greater effort to allow more room in similar circumstances.
 
RACATOON – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
MACHINE HEAD – Jockey N. Thomas advised stewards that in his opinion the gelding was not comfortable with today’s track conditions. 

RACE 2: L.D. LUCEY MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M
 
WADE’S LEGACY – Shied enroute to the barriers and dislodged jockey A. Holt and galloped riderless for some distance. WADE’S LEGACY was declared a late scratching at 1.40pm by order of stewards. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on WADE’S LEGACY was ordered to be refunded with deductions of 23 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 18 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable on all successful bets made prior to 1.40pm. Jockey A. Holt declared himself free of injury and declined medical attention. A post-race veterinary examination of WADE’S LEGACY revealed no abnormalities.  
 
RADIO WAVES – Slow into stride.
 
MONTY ROAD – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
MONTANA EXPRESS – Rider dismounted on pulling and a post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly had injured its off front suspensory ligament. Trainers T & P Rowe were advised they must provide a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to MONTANA EXPRESS trialing or racing again.
 
WEBS – Raced very wide rounding the home turn.
 
RACE 3: NORWELD/FAR NORTH SADDLERY OPEN HANDICAP 1200 M
 
MATERIALIST – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
ACCLIMATISE – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
YAMABUSHI – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
RACE 4: BONO'S EXCAVATIONS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1350 M
 
OUR MISSILE – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure near the 100 metres.  
 
SHARMAN PETE – Slow to begin. Lost its near hind plate during running.  
 
ESSAY WINE – Slow into stride.  
 
FAST AS STEEL – Hung out for the majority of the race. Shifted very wide rounding the home turn and took no competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Ms. L. Terzi was advised the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again.  
 
CYCLONE COCO – Following the running of this race jockey C. Jokic was examined by the QAS officers and stood down from her remaining engagements.
 
RACE 5: RAVENSHOE TIMBERS PTY LTD BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200 M
 
PREMIUM STAR – As the mare had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Shifted out at the start bumping with GERALDINE’S WISH and lost ground.   
 
MAJESTIC BLAZE – As jockey C. Jokic was indisposed she was replaced by jockey M. Abe.
 
GERALDINE’S WISH – Shifted in at the start bumping with PREMIUM STAR. Over-raced in the early stages.  
 
SPIN DOCTOR – Shifted in making contact with its inside barrier petition.
 
STARMEIRA – Slow into stride and then over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
TSUNAMI – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LOOK AT ROSA – Raced wide for the majority of the race. 
 
RACE 6: ROD FITCHETT TIRRABELLA PASTORAL COMPANY TIRRABELLA MT GARNET CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1800 M
 
MEDAL (NZ) – Slow to begin. Shifted wider leaving the 1200 metres and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
PEROVIC – Hampered near the 600 metres when SHOCKSTAR lost ground quickly and was checked. 
 
CHOIR BOY – Hampered near the 600 metres when SHOCKSTAR lost ground quickly and was checked. 
 
SHOCKSTAR (NZ) – Compounded quickly near the 600 metres hampering both PEROVIC and CHOIR BOY which were checked. Finished tailed off. When questioned in regard to its performance, jockey Ms. A. Thomson believed the gelding got its tongue over the bit and choked down. Trainer Ms. B. Thomson agreed with Ms. A. Thomson and advised stewards she would experiment with gear and make changes prior to its next start. Stewards advised Ms. B. Thomson, a warning would be placed on SHOCKSTAR’S racing manners and should it perform in that manner again further action would be taken. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a superficial laceration to the near hind leg.
 
JOURNALISM – Shifted in approaching the 400 metres bumping with STADIUM OF LIGHT. When questioned, regarding the improved performance today connections advised the step up in distance and drop in grade was a telling factor and that JOURNALISM had performed well previously when racing over similar distances. The explanation was noted.
