GENERAL
 
1.    Apprentice Mitch Goring advised the Stewards prior to riders being declared for this meeting that he would only be able to ride 60.5kg at the meeting. Given the shortage of riders attending the meeting, no penalties were imposed and the request to ride with no claim in Race 3 and overweight in Race 5 were approved.
2.    The following runners were declared a late scratching at 11:30am due to no rider being available:
Race 1: No 1. GOLD WITNESS, No 4. BETTER CLASS, No 7. WHISKEY RIVER, No 11. SNIPPILICIOUS
Race 2: No 2. OCTOBER REVOLUTION, No 5. REVVED UP READY, No 8. ILZOOMYA
Race 3: No 2. MONTE AZUL
Race 4. No 1. TRICKETEER, No 4. CUP OF AMBITION, No 11. BUSTERKICK
Race 5. No 1. OCEAN EMPEROR
3.    Stewards permitted the following overweights.
Race 2. David Sparks (TEQUILA DANCER) - +1.0kg
Race 5. Mitch Goring (PENNYPACKER) - +4.0kg
 
Race 1: NORTH WEST HARDWARE BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 900M
 
BOOMING FAST – Failed to muster speed in the early stages.
 
THE TYLER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Hung in over the final 200 metres.
 
LEUCAENA – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
RACE 2: MUD HUT HOTEL MOTEL BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 900M

VIBURNUM – Began awkwardly.
 
GOTTA FLY – Began awkwardly. Resented the kickback in the early stages.  When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice rider Maddie Mankelow reported that GOTTA FLY never travelled comfortably and when placed under pressure, failed to respond to her riding and was disappointing.
 
SWAMP NATION – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
VONK – Slow to begin. Shifted in after being struck with the whip passing the 200 metres.
 
RACE 3: SUNCORP BANK Maiden Plate 1000M
 
FALKLAND – Was declared a late scratching at 2:20pm after refusing to proceed to the barriers.  Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on FALKLAND be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st UP TO US 27c win, 25c place
2nd YES MA 25c place
 
Trainer Tanya Parry was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record.
 
TAKE A DIVE – Crowded on jumping, losing ground.

JUST FOR LOVE – Shifted in on jumping crowding TAKE A DIVE. Was attended to by the on-course veterinarian following the event showing a poor post-race recovery.
 
YES MA – Shifted out on jumping crowding TAKE A DIVE. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
RACE 4: LORD PASTORAL QTIS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1200M
 
MIA TORRETTO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in passing the 1,000 metres placing TAHKIAN BUBBLES in restricted room for a short distance.
 
RED SUTURE – Shifted ground passing the 150 metres to continue to improve.
 
TAHKIAN BUBBLES – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 1,000 metres when MIA TORRETTO laid in.
 
POLLY HOFFA – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
SWEET FANTASY – Began awkwardly.
 
RACE 5: KUHL & CO EARTHMOVING & HAULAGE MAXWELTON CUP OPEN Handicap 1200M
 
PERVADE (GB) – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping RUSH HOUR.
 
NAPOLEON STRIKE – Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
RUSH HOUR – Bumped on jumping.
 
PENNYPACKER – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
ALLEZIZZY – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
Following the meeting, Stewards investigated into the whip use of rider David Sparks (PERVADE(GB)) from the concluding stages of the event to allow for review of the available footage. After further consideration, Stewards were not satisfied that rider Sparks had used the whip excessively.
