Race 1: FLEXIHIRE BAND 0-60 HANDICAP (1000 metres)

SIDETRIP: Was slow to begin. App A Jones fined $300 for excessive use of the whip being 8 times prior to the 100 metres. In determining penalty Stewards considered that this was the rider’s first offence under this rule since the commencement of the whip guidelines.

RAMACHANDRA: App D Graham reported that Ramchandra failed to handle the dirt track in the early and middle stages. D Graham was suspended for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100 metres being 7 times prior. The period of suspension for 7 days was imposed and to commence at midnight Saturday, 20th March 2021 and expire on midnight Saturday, 27th March 2021. App D Graham was fined $100 as she was a half kilogram overweight.

DUTCH ROCKET: Raced wide throughout. Jockey S Sheargold was fined $100 as he was a half kilogram overweight.


Race 2: QUARRICO QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (1000 metres)

THINK I CAN CAREEN: Began awkwardly.

JACK O’DIAMONDS: Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.

EMMA ROCKET: Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. Jockey N Nelson was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip being 6 times prior to the 100 metres. In determining penalty Stewards considered that this was the rider’s third offence under this rule since the commencement of the whip guidelines.

FAINTLY MACABRE: Reared in the barriers and got its off foreleg over the barrier partition. Was removed from the barriers and underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 2:03pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on Faintly Macabre to be refunded and that the following deductions apply on all successful wagers.

2nd Place 11 cents

Trainer Bevan Johnson was advised that a veterinary certificate off soundness would be required prior to starting Faintly Macabre again. A warning was also placed on Faintly Macabre for barriers manners.

STRUMAN: Prior to acceptances stewards permitted Jockey T Bannon to ride the filly half kilogram overweight. Jockey T Bannon was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for excessive use of the whip being 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.


Race 3: HOSES 24 OPEN PLATE (1170 metres)

BEST GUESS: App D Graham was suspended for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100 metres being 7 times prior. The period of suspension imposed was for 7 days to commence at midnight Saturday, 20th March 2021 and expire on midnight Saturday, 27th March 2021 to be served concurrently with the penalty from Race 1.

RAIDEN: Raced wide for the majority.

ELLE A WALKING: Was slow to begin.


Race 4: MITCHEL PLANT SERVICES BENCHMARK 45 (1170 metres)

KEIRETSU: Reared as the gates open and lost considerable ground. Trainer Bevan Johnson was advised a warning would be placed on KEIRETSU for barriers manners.

BULLET LAD: Lost off hind plate on jumping.

TAKEN ON CHANCE: App D Graham was suspended for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100 metres being 8 times prior. The period of suspension imposed was for 8 days to commence at midnight Saturday, 27th March 2021 and expire on midnight Sunday, 4th April 2021 to be served consecutively with the penalties from Races 1 and 3.

LENNON’S PADDOCK: Raced wide throughout


Race 5: HONERY TRADING GROUP BENCHMARK 60 (1400 metres)

ANCIENT ECHOES: Bubble cheeker had to refitted prior to entering the barriers.

STONE WARRIOR: Raced wide throughout. Jockey T Bannon was fined $300 for excessive use of the whip being 7 times prior to the 100 metres. In determining penalty Stewards considered that this was the rider’s third offence under this rule since the commencement of the whip guidelines.

NECCESSITAS: Was extremely fractious prior to the start and reared as the gates open and as a result came out and tailed off.

SCENT OF FEAR: Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

LOUIE THE LEGEND: Raced wide for the majority.

GETOUT OF MY NEIGH: Raced wide throughout.


Race 6: MORANBAH COMMUNITY WORKERS CLUB BENCHMARK 45 (1550 metres)

STARS DON’T RUST: Raced four-wide without cover in the early and middle stages. App C Collis was suspended for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100 metres being 9 times prior. The period of suspension imposed was for 8 days to commence at midnight Saturday, 13th March 2021 and expire on midnight Sunday, 21st March 2021. In determining penalty Stewards considered that this was the rider’s sixth offence under this rule since the commencement of the whip guidelines.

THE DECKERAIDER: Slow into stride. Raced wide from near the 1000 metres.

BARBICAN: Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority.

FLASH FOX: Slow into stride.
