GENERAL
Due to forecast localised rain the Club requested that race times be condensed to ensure the meeting could be concluded.
RACE 1: XENCO GROUP QTIS Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)
I’M NUMBER ONE – When questioned on the performance apprentice G Semmens advised that the gelding failed to handle the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
HUSTLER’S AMBITION – Began awkwardly and bumped with LADY ENCRYPTEAU and as a result was slow into stride. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
SOCIALLY RED – Began awkwardly.
TORERA – Slow to begin.
LADY ENCRYPTEAU – Bumped shortly after the start by HUSTLER’S AMBITION. Raced wide throughout.
SAINT ANNS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not starting in race for an extended period and was cleared to start.
GOT THIS – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Resulting in the rider having to correct her mount on a number of occasions.
RACE 2: SMITHY'S HIGHLAND SERVICES BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1000 METRES)
BUNGARRIBEE LAD – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not starting in race for an extended period and was cleared to start.
THE SQUIRE – Jumped outwards at the start bumping with SUPER SLICK. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
THATFEELSBETTER – Blundered at the start and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
SUPER SLICK – Jumped inwards at the start bumping with THE SQUIRE.
RACE 3: ISAAC REGIONAL COUNCIL Class 4 Handicap (1200 METRES)
SCHMOOZER – Apprentice G Semmens advised that the gelding was very disappointing and in her view the track conditions and the weight impost were telling factors. Ms Semmens further added that SCHMOOZER failed to respond to her riding and as a result she desisted from riding her mount out over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. When questioned on the performance trainer R Williams advised that the gelding had proved disappointing on dirt tracks and failed to handle the going and he would reconsider the immediate racing future of SCHMOOZER in his stable.
GROWL – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
DARK GLEAM – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
RAETIHI (NZ) – Anticipated the start, then threw its head in the air soon after the start and lost noticeable ground. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 4: ESSEX GRAZING CO. ACTON MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap (1200 METRES)
CHALKLEY – Slow to begin and raced wide throughout.
MISHANI AVIATOR – When questioned in relation to the gelding tiring badly over the final 300m apprentice B Johnson advised that her mount travelled well in the early and middle stages however made the home turn very awkwardly and failed to stretch out fully from that point onwards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in front and as a result MISHANI AVIATOR has been stood down from racing pending receipt of a veterinary clearance.
SPRING VALLEY – Slow to begin. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
Apprentice G Semmens pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she applied the whip to her mount on 10 occasions prior to the 100m and 19 in total. Ms Semmens license to ride in races was suspended for 10 days, to commence midnight 2nd August to conclude midnight 12th August 2025.
THE HACKNEYDIAMOND – Slow to begin.
FIREUPZOUS – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
SILENT ANGEL – Apprentice J L Devine was permitted to ride one kilogram over the allocated weight due to no other riders being available at declaration of rider time. Raced wide throughout.
RACE 5: FOXLEIGH MINE MIDDLEMOUNT CUP OPEN Handicap (1475 METRES)
SIR ROCKET – Tired noticeably and hung in over the final 300m. Trainer J Manzelmann advised that the gelding, in recent starts had not displayed the desired enthusiasm and will to compete and is his intention to consider the racing future of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
THE DRILLER – Bumped at the start by TRICKY BEANS.
JOHNNY DASH – Was declared a late scratching at 2:15pm when the gelding was unable to be loaded.
Prior to correct weight stewards ordered that all bets placed on JOHNNY DASH to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply.
Less 30 cents for the winner
Less 27 cents for place bets on the winner
Less 27 cents for second place
Trainer B Trimble was advised that the gelding has been stood down from racing until completion of a satisfactory trial.
TRICKY BEANS – Apprentice J L Devine was permitted to ride one kilogram over the allocated weight due to no other riders being available at declaration of rider time. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced at Blackall on 21July 2025 and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and bumped with the DRILLER
