LATE RIDING CHANGES:
When Jockey B. El-Issa was unable to arrive on course by the prescribed time, due to transport difficulties, substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary:
Race 1: Telstra Business Centre Mackay Maiden Plate - 1300 metres
1st RIGHT OR ROME 2nd ALLGIRL 3rd CASH FOR MURTAL 4th - TARA’S RANSOM
TERANASAURUS - Prior to the race trainer R. Vale advised stewards that the rider will be instructed to use the whip sparingly on the gelding. Was slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities.
MOSSIMO – Over-raced in the early stages.
SAVAGE LAND - At about the 500 metres was awkwardly placed on heels and had to be shifted wider to obtain clear running.
STAR READER - Raced wide throughout.
Race 2: Kern Grup QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres
1st VICIOUS CHICK 2nd DOOM CITY DRAGON 3rd THE EUNUCH 4th - HARRY MET SANDY
OUR WISHLIST - Trainer N. Schofield was fined $100 under A.R. 59A for failing to produce the Thoroughbred Identification Card for the filly.
REGGIE ROCKET - Refused to load into the barriers and was a late scratching, at 1.42 p.m.
MOONSHINE MAGGIE also refused to load into the barriers and was a late scratching, at 1.44 p.m. Subsequently stewards ordered that all bets made on REGGIE ROCKET and MOONSHINE MAGGIE be refunded in full and that the following deductions apply:

12¢ in the dollar for the win on the winner, VICIOUS CHICK
15¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, VICIOUS CHICK
12¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, DOOM CITY DRAGON

Stewards further ordered that the following deductions apply to all bets made between 1.42 p.m. and 1.44 p.m.:

Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that an embargo will be placed on REGGIE ROCKET, which must obtain 2 barrier certificates prior to being permitted to race again. Stewards took into account that previous embargoes had been placed on the horse’s barrier manners.
Trainer R. Binder was advised that MOONSHINE MAGGIE must obtain a barrier certificate before being permitted to race again.
HOT PLATE – Near 100 metres was bumped by another runner when awkwardly placed on heels. In the straight was held up for clear running and was unable to be fully tested.
PACEMAKER – Raced wide throughout.

Race 3: - Carlisle Motors BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1800 metres
1st – SAN RAYMOND 2nd PACHAMAMA 3rd POUSSIN 4th - FOREVER MORE
SLEEP ON IT – Blundered on jumping.
MISS SNIPSTER – In the early stages was inclined to over-race.
Following the running of this race App. L. Attard was found to be dehydrated and unable to fulfil his further engagements. App. Attard was advised that he must provide a medical clearance before being permitted to ride again.
Race 4: Mackay Property Maintenance Class 2 Handicap - 1050 metres
1st TABASCO FORCE 2nd - PRINCE DAN 3rd – KACHADA 4th – ELJAY ATOM
MIDNIGHT STALKER - Hung out rounding the turn at the 700 metres.
PRINCE DAN - Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and went to the line without being fully tested.
CHARLIE’S MOMENT - Approaching the 800 metres had to steady off the heels of another runner, which shifted in slightly despite the efforts of its rider.
ODE TO ME - Approaching the 800 metres shifted in, despite the efforts of its rider.
Race 5: Smart State Rentals BenchMark 70 Handicap - 1300 metres
1st ARIADNE 2nd - STAR TRUCE 3rd EURONGILLY 4th - ROC’ DA FLOOR
WHISPER WILLOW – Whilst being loaded into the barriers, initially the bridle and blinkers were dislodged from the mare and had to be re-applied. The mare then proved difficult to load. Trainer N. Seymour was advised that a warning will be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
BENNY’S HALO – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground.
ARIADNE - Lost its nearside hind plate in running.
EURONGILLY – Raced wide throughout.
Race 6: Chaptech Handicap – 1100 metres
1st SCOT FREE 2nd NEVZLN 3rd FUNDIDO 4th – CLOUD DANCER
CLOUD DANCER – Shortly after the start shifted in, bumped another runner, which was taken in onto FUNDIDO, which was taken in onto LIBERTY TYCOON.
SHORT TRIP – Shortly after start bumped and taken inwards onto another runner, which in turn was taken in onto another runner.
FUNDIDO – Approaching the 900 metres while over-racing was inclined to step in, despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in another horse having to be steadied.
LIBERTY TYCOON - Bumped shortly after the start. Rider reported that the gelding felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
TALLICA - Raced wide throughout.
Race 7: TFH Hire Services Class 1 Handicap – 1200 metres
1st MISHANI TROY 2nd ORATRY/EIGHTH COMMANDMENT (DH) 4th – MUSCAT
BARBOUGE: - Was a late scratching, at 7.44. a.m., by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice that the gelding had been injured in the float en route to the course.
NAGINI – Re-saddled behind the barriers.
RUSHATUS – Began awkwardly.
FIREFRONT – Was slow to begin.
JAYHAWK - When questioned as to how the eventual winner was able to obtain a run to his inside passing the 700 metres, the rider explained that after beginning well the gelding had a tendency to over-race and was inclined to lay out throughout the event. He added that at no stage was he able to position his mount close to the running rail, which ultimately permitted the winner to obtain a run to his inside. The explanation was noted.
