SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT, Mackay 24th December 2014

Trainer Mr. T. Cook pleaded guilty to a charge of improper conduct under A.R. 175(q) in that he behaved improperly towards another trainer following a protest hearing at this meeting. Mr. Cook was fined $200. In determining the appropriate penalty stewards took into account the following significant mitigating circumstances: Mr. Cook’s plea of guilty, his frankness throughout the hearings and his good record in regard to this rule.

Late riding changes:

As Jockey P. Cullen was unable to fulfill his engagements due to personal reasons, substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

As App. L. Attard failed to fulfill his engagement for NOBODY’S BOY, and no other apprentice rider was available, stewards permitted Jockey A. Coome to ride the gelding. App. Attard was fined $100 under A.R. 85B.

Race 1: Newsxpress Mt Pleasant Maiden Plate – 800 metres
1st - EXCLUSIVE KITTY 2nd - LUNAR LUCK 3rd - HAY CAL 4th – PUMPED UP KICKS

PUMPED UP KICKS - Shifted out at the start and made contact with another runner.

HAY CAL – Contacted by another runner at the start.

MOONSHINE MAGGIE – In the home straight inclined to lay in under pressure.

Race 2: Chaptech QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap - 1100 metres
1st - CRAIGLEA JABIRU 2nd - CRAIGLEA WANDOO 3rd - RING DING 4th – CRAIGLEA SHUFFLE

CRAIGLEA RUSH – When Jockey R. McMahon was overweight, Jockey C. McIver was substituted. Jockey McMahon explained that, due to the inclement weather and transport difficulties, he was later than expected arriving on course resulting in him being unable to lose the required weight. Stewards accepted his explanation.

RING DING - Trainer C. Thompson was reprimanded under A.R. 53C for failing to notify that the colt had been gelded.

CRAIGLEA ARNIE – Shifted out abruptly at the start and lost ground.

CRAIGLEA SHUFFLE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Passing the 600 metres shifted in and brushed the running rail.

Race 3: Brandish Australia Pty Ltd Maiden Handicap – 1300 metres
1st - IMPROPER ROCKET 2nd - RED RADA 3rd - HAYYLER’S AFFAIR 4th – SAVAGE LAND

GENERAL BEERS – A late scratching, at 11.55 a.m., due to the downgrade of the track.

PINK DAZE – When Jockey S. McGovern failed to arrive on course to fulfill his engagement, Jockey C. McIver was substituted. Jockey McGovern will be interviewed in regard to his failure.

HARRY MET SANDY- When questioned regarding the poor performance, Jockey Simmons explained that his mount travelled comfortably throughout in a prominent position, however when placed under pressure prior to straightening failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing.

COOLOWIE – Was carried wider rounding the home turn.

MURTASKILL – Was slow to begin. Rounding the home turn had to be steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of a weakening runner.

Race 4: Wes Mackay BM65 Handicap – 1300 metres
1st - MISHANI TROY 2nd - VERMITHRAX 3rd - FADED 4th – COURT CLOWN


EURONGILLY – Was slow to begin.

TA RARA BOOM DE AY – Weakened noticeably and was tailed off from the 600 metres. Trainer Ms L. Boarin was told that the mare will be restricted to country venues until it establishes form.

COURT CLOWN – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was fractious in the barriers, did not reveal any abnormalities.

Race 5: Trainsit Tyres BM 70 Handicap – 1050 metres
1st - NOBODY’S BOY 2nd BON TEMPS/KATHERINE GORGE (DH) - 4th – STREET SINGER

NOBODY’S BOY - Was slow to begin

BON TEMPS – Was held up and unable to obtain clear running in the straight.

SHORT TRIP - Apprentice K. Aho, in the presence of her master Mr. W. Pomfrett, was severely reprimanded under A.R. 137(a) for permitting her mount to shift in near the 800 metres when not quite clear of CHIAROSCURO (App. M. McGillivray), which was carried in onto MONDUKE (G. Watson) and had to be checked.

Race 6: SH Tait & Co Handicap - 1100 metres
1st - SCOT FREE 2nd - DODGE THE GREY 3rd - LEXCEN 4th – MIN MIN MAN

NEDIYM’S QUEST – Was fractious in the barriers, examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

Race 7: Ginger’s Cool Room Hire Class 1 Handicap – 1100 metres
1st - MAGIC DECISION 2nd - RIGHT OR ROME 3rd - ALPINE GOLD 4th – GEARSTICK

FIREFRONT – Stood flat-footed when the gates opened and missed the start (2 lengths).

ALL BAR THE JEWELS – Was fractious in the barriers and began awkwardly.

MONTANA HERO – Was slow to begin.
