Race 1: TOX FREE QTIS 2YO Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres
1st CATEGORY TWO 2nd STIRLING GIRL 3rd CRAIGLEA BLITZ 4th - AFRICAN BEATS

AFRICAN BEATS - When Jockey S. McGovern was late arriving on course, Jockey D. Evans was substituted as the rider of the gelding. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by Jockey Evans. Slow to begin.

CATEGORY TWO - Prior to the filly leaving the enclosure the near hind plate had to be replaced.

WHISKEY LAD - Was fractious in the barriers and when the start was effected was slow to begin. App. N. Vuille was reminded of her obligation regarding the use of the whip when her mount is out of contention.

CRAIGLEA BLITZ - Was slow into stride.

ROCKET LINER - Raced keenly in the middle stages.

CRAIGLEA THUNDER - Jockey reported that his mount felt awkward in its action throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had mild bruising to its nearside hip.

STIRLING GIRL- Raced wide throughout.

Race 2: M2E Services QTIS 2YO Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres
1st BAMBY 2nd HIDDEN THUNDER 3rd HAT CHECK GIRL 4th - KAIDA

KAIDA - Was fractious in the barriers, examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

CRAIGLEA WISE - After being placed in the barriers, reared and then attempted to get under the front barrier gate. The gelding was removed from the barriers and examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon, who reported that the gelding had sustained a laceration to its neck. Acting on her advice, stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 2.22 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on CRAIGLEA WISE be refunded in full and that the follow deductions apply:

19¢ in the dollar for the win, for the winner, BAMBY
14¢ in the dollar for the place, for the winner BAMBY
25¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, HIDDEN THUNDER

A warning will be placed on the gelding's barrier manners.

TICATIME - Was a little slow to begin.

COCO DRAGON - Raced greenly in the early stages and was awkwardly placed on heels of another runner near the 1000 metres, had to be steadied from heels leaving the 400 metres.

HAT CHECK GIRL - Leaving the 400 metres shifted out under pressure, resulting in COCO DRAGON having to be eased when tightened out onto TICATIME.

HIDDEN THUNDER - Approaching the 200 metres shifted out abruptly, which resulted in its rider becoming unbalanced. When questioned regarding his riding of the gelding over the concluding stages, Jockey J. P. Stanley stated that he placed the horse under pressure for some distance after its had shifted out, however HIDDEN THUNDER continued to race ungenerously and went to the line without being fully tested. Trainer C. Dore advised stewards that she would experiment with the addition of blinkers to the gelding's approved gear. Nevertheless, she was advised that the gelding must perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again.

Race 3: Pink Ribbon Charity Race Day April 19 Class 3 Plate - 1050 metres
1st – WINGED WARRIOR 2nd FROM THE DARKNESS 3rd BORN TO SURVIVE 4th - REAL FRENCH SAGA

There were no racing incidents.

Race 4: Carlton United Breweries Class 3 Plate - 1300 metres
1st MAGIC DECISION 2nd THEFORCEBEWITHYOU 3rd MISHANI TROY 4th – HIGH CHANCELLOR

HIGH CHANCELLOR - Lunged forward in the barriers prior to the start being effected and when the start was effected began awkwardly. Near the 1100 metres raced to the inside of another runner, which shifted in slightly, and had to be steadied. In the early part of the home straight laid in under pressure.

Race 5: Feed 2 Go Maiden Plate - 1300 metres
1st RAPID DRAGON 2nd VIRTUITY 3rd AZZURAYER 4th - FASTNET STORM

RAPID DRAGON - App. N. Vuille was fined $100 under A.R. 175(k) in that she weighed out without irons.

ESSO EYE - Proved difficult to load into the barriers.

CRITIC'S CORNER - Was a little slow to begin, then over-raced in the middle stages and near the 600 metres had to be checked and lost some ground.

YA RECKON and BROKEN ELEMENT - Raced wide throughout.

VIRTUITY - Trainer W. Kenning approached the stewards to express his concerns about Jockey S. Sheargold's riding of the mare. Mr Kenning explained that his instructions were not to lead, but in the circumstances he had to lead to hold the mare up due to its having a short sprint. Jockey Sheargold explained that the horse had raced keenly until near the 800 metres, and near the 600 metres he increased the tempo steadily to lead by approximately 4 lengths. Jockey Sheargold added that he had not intended to lead by such a margin and placed his mount under pressure from near the 400 metres. The explanations were noted.

Race 6: Blue River Ice Class 1 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st SOMEPLACE 2nd RACEY MACEY 3rd OUR MAGIC MADGE 4th - RED RYDER

BARON REES - Following this race stewards inquired into an incident observed by a member of the steward’s panel in the tie-up area, in which trainer L. Applewaite struck the gelding when it attempted to bite her. After taking evidence from the relevant parties and considering all the circumstances, stewards advised Ms Applewaite to be mindful of her conduct in this regard.

RED RYDER - Began awkwardly.

RACEY MACEY - Raced wide in the early stages and near the 800 metres was allowed to assume the lead.

ZAHA DREAM - Raced wide for the majority of the event.

CAMDEN QUEEN - Jockey C. McIver was reprimanded for using his whip on the mare which was out of contention and not responding.

Race 7: Become a 100 Club Member at the Mackay TC Open Handicap - 1200 metres
1st - MCCONACHY 2nd CASINO BENJO 3rd ADDICTION TO ROCK 4th - SCHOORWIN

CASINO BENJO - Raced wide throughout.

SCOT FREE - Hung out on the home turn and near the 200 metres Jockey D. Evans lost his inside rein and became unbalanced until he was able to recover it.
