RACE 1: Black Duck Kitchens QTIS 3YO Handicap - 1100 metres
1st - CHARCOAL MELODY 2nd - RED BOHEMIA 3rd - NEVETUS 4th - RIGHT OR ROME
MANDALONG PASS - When Jockey M. Abe was to be overweight, and no other suitable rider was available, stewards permitted Jockey Abe to ride the gelding ½ kg above his declared weight. Jockey Abe was fined $100 under A.R. 120(b). Raced wide throughout.
RED BOHEMIA - Was slow to begin.
RACE 2: Connole Carlisle Class 2 Handicap - 1560 metres
1st - SERENE PEARL 2nd - MISHANI PAGAN 3rd - SUPREME ROCKET 4th - PACEMAKER
PACEMAKER - Was slow to begin.
REAL DREAMS - and MISS SNIPSTER - Raced keenly in the middle stages.
RACE 3: Fergus Builders Handicap - 1560 metres
1st - DODGE THE GREY 2nd - NEVZLIN 3rd - FERMENT 4th - BLU AXIS
BLU AXIS - Fractious in the barriers, then began awkwardly. Lost its off hind plate in running.
BUCASIA BEACH - Passing the 200 metres had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of another runner.
RACE 4: Barcam Electrical Services Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres
1st - TAPPESTRY 2nd - ON THE BID 3rd - SAVAGE LAND 4th - GRAND HOTEL
ON THE BID - Prior to the race the mare, which was resuming from a lengthy spell, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.
IN RECOVERY - Began awkwardly.
RULISTIC - Was slow to begin and then raced wide throughout.
GRAND HOTEL - In the middle stages raced ungenerously.
LADY PEMBROKE - Raced keenly in the middle stages and on straightening for home had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of TAPPESTRY (J. P. Stanley), which shifted out.
TAPPESTRY - Shifted out on straightening for home, resulting in another runner having to be steadied. Jockey J. P. Stanley advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
ENCORONADA - Rider reported that his mount travelled comfortably in a prominent position, however weakened when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities.
RACE 5: Carlisle Motors QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres
1st - SHELLEY CHINA 2nd - WAR NOISE 3rd - MAROON BLUE 4th - ONEMORENOBLEDANCER
LISTEN TRIST - Raced wide throughout.
LUNAR LUCK - A post-race veterinary examination of the filly, which weakened over the concluding stages, did not revealy any abnormalites.
THE TEENY HASS - Raced keenly in the early stages.
JORDANS JET - Over the final 50 metres was awkwardly placed on heels and went to the line without being fully tested. On teturning to scale Jockey J. Felix reported that his mount hung out throughout the event.
RED HOT FLASH - Passing the 1000 metres raced keenly and had to be checked when racing tight to the inside of another runner.
RACE 6: News Xpress Mt Pleasant Class 2 Handicap - 1050 metres
1st - GREEDY 2nd - PASCALINO 3rd - LUCKY BOBBY 4th - RELEVANT GIRL
ODE TO ME - Blundered badly on jumping and lost ground.
RELEVANT GIRL - Began awkwardly. When the pace steadied in the middle stages had to be steadied away from the heels of runners in front.
COOL TRICK - When the pace steadied in the middle stages had to be steadied away from the heels of runners in front.
GEARSTICK - Throughout the event hung out and proved difficult to ride.
RACE 7: DGH Engineering Class 1 Handicap - 1300 metres
1st - LOCKIEBE 2nd - POUSSIN 3rd - AUTHENTIC SWING 4th - MONTANA HERO
After riding LOCKIEBE in this race, Jockey P. Cullen became indisposed and after being examined by the Ambulance officers was stood down from his further engagement.
FIREFRONT - Was slow to begin.
WONGARANDA - Raced keenly in the early stages.
AUTHENTIC SWING - Jockey D. Evans accidentally dropped his whip near the 100 metres.
When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on NINE TIMES, Jockey M. Abe stated that he had been instructed to take up a forward position, and after beginning awkwadly he rode his mount along to comply with the instructions, however was forced to race three wide and for that reason the mare was left without a finishing sprint.
RACE 8: Become a MTC Member Today BenchMark 70 Handicap - 1200 metres
1st - DESTRUCTION 2nd - CLEAVER 3rd - MIN MIN MAN 4th - BON TEMPS
MIN MIN MAN - Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer A. Cameron for the late declaration of Jockey A. Butler as the rider of the gelding.
DESTRUCTION - As Jockey J. P. Stanley was unable to fulfil his engagement for the gelding owing to travel commitments, stewards permitted Jockey G. Watson to be substituted.
FRAIDSO - After riding in Race 7, Jockey P. Cullen was stood down from his engagement, and Jockey S. Sheargold was substituted.
CLEAVER - Began awkwardly, then had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight and had to be shifted to the outside to improve.
DESTRUCTION - After being crossed near the 900 metres commenced to over-race.
KATHERINE GORGE - A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which weakened noticeably in the straight, revealed that the mare was acutely lame in the near foreleg. Trainer J. Manzelmann informed stewards that KATHERINE GORGE will now be retired. Acting on this assurance, stewards took no further action.
