RACE 1: Coalport Cash Store QTIS 2-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 1050 metres

ULTRA RED - Was momentarily held up for clear running in the early part of the straight.
REGAL ROTH - The rider reported that his mount was inclined to lay out throughout the event.
Stewards questioned Jockey M. Abe regarding his riding and the tactics adopted on CRAIGLEA DEKEN. He said that he was instructed to take up a forward position, even from his wide barrier draw, and after being slightly tardy to begin he rode his mount vigorously in the early stages in an attempt to comply with his instructions. Jockey Abe stated that after obtaining the lead his mount raced greenly and when placed under pressure in the home straight was inclined to lay out. Jockey Abe concurred with the stewards that he erred by not desisting from using his whip, and stopped riding and straightened, sooner than he had on this occasion
CRAIGLEA SWIFT - On returning to scale Jockey T. O'Hara said that her mount travelled comfortably throughout, however when placed under pressure failed to respond and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

OH YEAH - Raced greenly in the early stages.
Approaching the first turn, near the 850 metres, ROYAL WOLF (Jockey J. Lait) had to be checked when racing tight to the inside of JORDANS JET (Jockey W. D'Avila), which was carried in by MANDALONG PASS (App. K. Aho), which shifted in away from COSTA LITTLE (App. N. Vuille), when that horse shifted in when not quite clear. FAST ANNIE - Stewards permitted Jockey S. Wilson to replace Jockey P. Cullen, who was unable to make the weight. Jockey Cullen was reprimanded. In assessing penalty stewards took into account Jockey Cullen's exemplary record in regard to this matter. When questioned regarding the poor performance of the filly Jockey S. Wilson explained that the mare raced comfortably in the lead in the early and middle stages, however when asked for an effort prior to straightening for home failed to respond and weakened noticeably. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer G. Farrell was at a loss to explain the poor performance and undertook to advise stewards if anything was amiss with the filly in the days following the event.
AUTHENTIC SWING - Buffeted shortly after the start.
TESTATIME - Buffeted shortly after the start. Rounding the first turn, near the 850 metres, crowded for room and had to be steadied.
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow App. D. Evans, the rider of PASCALINO which finished 5th, to view the official video films to ascertain whether he had grounds for lodging an objection against the second placegetter, SHELLEY CHINA. Having done so App. Evans elected not to lodge a protest, and correct weight was declared. At a subsequent inquiry it was established that approaching the 100 metres SHELLEY CHINA shifted in marginally, resulting in PASCALINO making contact with the hindquarters of that runner and being turned inwards. PASCALINO then shifted in away from SHELLEY CHINA and made heavy contact with AUTHENTIC SWING. Over the final few strides PASCALINO again had to be steadied when crowded between runners.

On pulling up the saddle slipped to the nearside, ultimately resulting in App. Vuille being dislodged and suffering a harmless fall.
